Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

The White House Chief of Staff said that, "We are not going to control the pandemic". That's been obvious for some time now. It's just odd for them to admit it a week before the election. Still, more then 40% of the country will vote for this. They've been pretending their lack of plan is actually a...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Siege Crosshairs and Sideswipe from Marshall's for $13 each. I'd seen reports that other discounters had them for $8 each. But, it's still a good deal, and I hadn't got any new TFs since Wildwheel in early August. I already have the first responder decos of these molds, so they won't be that new to...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

Thanks. I've generally had good luck with non-LEGO bricks. They aren't quite as comfortable to handle and work with as LEGOs, but stay together pretty well. Before I built the ridiculous head and added the grey bits to the torso and thighs, the Beast looked legitimately cool, not like a silly monstr...

Re: OFFICIAL TRANSFORMERS TOYS NEWS

One of the links has a pic of Hot Rod next to Blurr and Kup, looking about the same size. But, the other link says the Deluxes are 4.5 inches, and the Voyager 6.5 inches. I hope the 4.5 inch listing is the error, as that's way too small for a Deluxe. Even Siege Red Alert, who'd a head shorter than S...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

G2 Devastator When I was making Gladiator Voltron, I needed 6 light grey coupling plates, the 2x2 tiles with 5-mm holes attached, for the wrist deco. I found this website that lists which sets that part is found in. I recognized the Raid Zeppelin as one I own, hadn't taken apart, and knew where it ...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Good luck, Clogs. Sorry to hear about your (hopefully minor) illness. And the jerks taking their masks off. My plan of grocery shopping Friday to avoid crowds didn't work out so well last week. I went right after work, and it was quite crowded. There was a line for the ATMs, and an employee with his...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

We must keep our air con on and have our north-facing windows opened; this will apply, we’ve been told, all winter and it’s only autumn yet. What's the reason for this? I could see the fresh air helping reduce covid spread, but that wouldn't require the AC. Or is it for some other, non-covid reason...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Kit-Kats are my preferred chocolately treat. I have to give myself primary consideration as I rarely have trick-or-treaters and have to eat the candy all myself. I like Kit-Kats enough that I wouldn't mind eating the leftovers. It's hard to predict how many kids I get. Usually, the 5 bags of Tootsi...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I made Tarn. I did the half treads with a alternating 2x2 and 1x1 cylinders. I didn't have near enough, but I was able to do the outer half of one shoulder to know what it'll look like when done.

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

The bike shop just down the road from me closed last month. I lost one of the springs for my front axle quick release, so I had to go to another bike shop one town over. I'd been there once before, and they were wearing masks. Not this time. 3 employees, one with his mask pulled down around his neck...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

The combined Voltron is 15 inches tall, smaller than Trypticon, but big enough to give him a decent fight.

Each Gladiator is 10 inches tall, just a bit bigger than Cyberverse seismic Stomp Grimlock.

Bluestreak is 8.5 inches tall, so between Voyager and Leader sized.

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I used the smooth tiles from that Speed Stars set to finish my Gladiator Voltron. Back when Kre-O sets hit discounters, I doubled (or tripled) up on some so I could build the bot and vehicle modes at the same time. This meant the vehicles had some joint parts in them that I'd never use as joints aga...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

I find that I've lost almost all interest in the Legends line because of it (and because of Hasbro shuffling the most desirable costumes and variants into exclusive two- and three-packs bundled with figures no one wants). There's enough stuff out there to buy that I don't see the point in following...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

I saw a white Cybertron Vector Prime at a flea market yesterday. i didn't get it, but it did make me think of the gold repaint I bought at a yard sale many years ago, which had a misassembled right elbow. The elbow would bend backwards instead of forwards. I decided to try to fix it today. I got out...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

In my dreams, people (including myself) don't wear masks, but I'm vaguely aware that they/we should. Maybe if I keep this in mind as I go to sleep, I'll be able to use this to recognize that I'm dreaming. So much for that. I had a dream where no one was wearing masks a few days ago, and freaked out...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Thinking more on the CDC's advice not to confront mask-refusers: If you're in a place where the mask requirement isn't being enforced, take off your pants. For the UK readers, I originally meant the US version of pants, which you'd call trousers, but what the hell, go all out. The point is, if one d...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

At least 3 people have been reinfected with covid 19. That is, they had it, recovered, then caught it again. I'm not too worried about this, yet. Immunity after infection is never absolute. Even with chicken pox, usually a one-and-done illness, some people get it more than once. My childhood best fr...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Am I right in thinking that, as an island, England could have responded much more like NZ than they did? Even if England's response isn't objectively worse than the US's, it's more disappointing if they could've done much better than we could've. Three of the 4 states that banned Rhode Islanders hav...
