Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Work's starting local distribution tomorrow (Fri). I don't know if this means I'll be able to get me 2nd dose here, or if I'll have to go to Groton again. I checked the website for local distribution, and there's no days in my 2nd dose window. Ivanka Trump got vaccinated today. The news was mainly a...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

I don't think it makes much difference. Pfizer have fiddled the testing slightly in terms of reporting figures that cast the best light (most effective age group etc) the same as others. Roughly speaking, for the two dose ones the first dose is about equivalent to having been infected (but without ...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

My parents' 2nd shots went OK, so they'll be fully vaccinated sometime next week. Given the CDC guidelines that it's OK for vaccinated people to visit one unvaccinated household at a time, I've invited them down next weekend. This'll be the first time I've seen them since June. I get my first shot o...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

My parents got their 2nd shots of Pfiezer yesterday. My mom e-mailed me at 9pm to say no side effects yet, and that they hoped to feel OK the next day (today). There's no follow up e-mail, so either there were no side effects worth mentioning, or they're too incapacitated to type. At work, I saw the...

Re: Which of Your Transformers can pull off the best "Naruto Run"?

I use a dedicated camera. My parents gave me a couple of their old track phones. I don't think there's any minutes left on them to use as phones, but they can use my wifi. I just hate using them. I don't like touchscreens in general, and these are awkwardly tiny. I could take pictures with them, but...

Re: Which of Your Transformers can pull off the best "Naruto Run"?

Botbots are so cute. Why did I not get any? You at least need the pacifier bot . I tried to take a complete photo recently, with SS holding his Legends counterpart in one hand. However, that made him too forward-heavy, and he started falling over. I caught him, but in doing so, dropped and broke my...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

My work started mandating stricter mask requirements last week. Now, you have to wear one unless you're in your private office, alone, with the door shut. You can have it off briefly for eating and drinking, so long as the 6 foot requirement is met. Previously, the 7 foot tall divider between me and...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

It's also important to remember that Lovecraft's stories are more about creating a mood or atmosphere than they are about being tightly plotted or character driven. His typical narrative device is the narrator, of varying degrees of reliability, recounting strange events to lead up to some kind of ...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

I mostly read Lovecraft and Stephen King, but I don't have enough for more than 2 books a month. I tried reading Lovecraft a few years ago, but couldn't get into it. I heard there was a "mythos", and found a complete works collection at a reasonable price. So, I bought that, figuring I'd read all t...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Another thought Clay: Take advantage of your lack of taste by eating healthy foods that taste terrible. Rhode Island finally published an estimated timeline for vaccinating everyone. As a 40-something with no underlying health issues, my group starts mid/late-May. That's a little over 3 months from ...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Clay - Any update on your sense of taste? Some health officials are recommending double masks , wearing a cloth mask over a disposable one. I've been giving that a shot this week, and actually find it more comfortable than either mask alone. The disposable mask has a bit more structural integrity, w...

Re: [The video game thread]

I love the atmosphere of Twilight Princess, but I think I'd have a hard time convincing myself to play it again any time soon because there's just no challenge there. I know Zelda isn't supposed to be Dark Souls, but I should at least have to worry about whether I've got enough fairies and potions ...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

Thanks, Warcry. I got a Barnes & Noble gift card for my birthday last month, since it's one of the only stores I'll still go to. I wanted to get out of the house, so last night I took a walk there just before they closed, and scored a couple LEGO sets. LEGO Creator 31112 Wild Lion - I've only built ...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Other soundbites include: coverage of the inauguration is an infomercial, ceasing construction on the border wall is dumb because it keeps pandemics out, Big Tech is gonna getcha!, and establishment republicans are all corrupt and worthless because they didn't support Trump. I wonder how long right...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Well, Trump's finally gone from office after 400,000+ dead. So now the US can maybe kind of, sort of start to deal with this? Starting tomorrow, Fox News and their ilk will realize that 3,000 dead Americans every day is a big deal, and demand Joe Biden be impeached for not doing anything about it. ...

Re: [The video game thread]

I finished the dungeon with the Sols. It turns out part of my issue was the enemy approaching music for that dungeon gets on my nerves. I think they were going for disorienting, but ended up with annoying. Anyway, I turned the volume way down on my stereo, and had a much easier time of it. I started...

Re: [The video game thread]

I'm almost done replaying Twilight Princess . I'm at the beginning of the Palace of Twilight, where you have to steal the Sols from the Wallmasters/Zant's Hands. It's the only non-optional thing in the game I truly hate. I even keep a save file from just after placing the second Sol so I can skip it...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Problem we've got in this country is that trust in politicians is at an all-time low. That and our governments continued insistence of running everything centrally in London (and, for the last 30 years or more, placing more emphasis on the well being of everyone inside the M25), instead of allowing...

Re: Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays (delete as applicable)

Merry, if boring, Christmas. Usually, I spend a week or two in New Hampshire visiting family. Instead, I got a call from my parents on Christmas. Then, I opened my presents while listening to Jonee Earthquake's* Christmas CD. It's got 16 songs proper, then a bunch of alternate takes and remixes. So,...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Thanks for the links and pics, Clay. After my last post, I folded Scab's red bracket thingies down to press against the rear wheel combo. This solves the shoulder wobble problem, which also puts the left shoulder in a position to support the two Deluxes well enough. Between that, and curing the fing...
