Re: So I'm pretty much out of the fandom at this point

...I was looking at that Windblade kit again. I'm probably a bad person for saying this, but I quite like it (I think it's cute) and - if it's not been ruined by the internet pile on- would like to pick one of those up. Good to hear from you Ryan! I read your book! It's great :) Aww, shucks! Seriou...

Re: So I'm pretty much out of the fandom at this point

Just found this thread (which shows I don’t visit often)! I think for me these days, Transformers fandom is more about the people than the actual product. Meet-ups, conventions, chatting rubbish on Twitter etc... that’s the thing that keeps me going in this fandom, really. There are a lot of bad egg...

Re: Kissing In Transformers

I loved it when that Junkion kissed Grimlock in the 86 movie. And when Astoria kissed Powerglide in the episode “The Girl Who Kicked Ass And Her Sidekick Powerglide”.

Guess I’m just a hopeless romantic.

Re: Transformers (2019-?) #1 [SPOILERS]

Onto issue #2... The cover promises us that this is a ‘bold new era’. But it isn’t, not yet, anyway. Rather than being the refreshing new take that the cover promises, this is as (little-‘c’) conservative as Transformers fiction gets. Issue 1 ended with a murder, in a world where murders simply do n...

Transformers (2019-?) #1 [SPOILERS]

Okay, here we go...! First off, I think it's a pretty good idea to use Rubble as the audience identification character. He almost reminds me of a Doctor Who assistant - someone to ask questions the audience would ask, someone who's enthusiastic and excited (rather than jaded), someone for whom - lik...

Episode 2: I thought it was okay. It certainly looked really nice (TARDIS interior notwithstanding), and the locations were great. I’m not sure I quite bought into the concept, though - neither of the two racers seemed particularly competent or eager to reach the finish line (lots of naps and quiet ...

Yeah, that was okay. A solid 3/5 for me. Gripes out of the way first: didn’t really like Bradley Walsh, though hopefully he’ll improve (or I’ll mellow towards him) as the series goes on. Really disappointed in the lack of an opening title sequence - we better get one next week, as the new theme arra...

I don’t really want to get into a debate about the relative merits of Kill the Moon, as it’s beside the point (I’m not a fan of it myself). I was merely attempting to illustrate that your own disillusionment with modern-day Who and its politics is no indicator of a actual, objective, measurable slum...

Some people really loved Kill the Moon (see here: http://www.eruditorumpress.com/blog/kil ... on-review/ ). Just because you personally hated it, it doesn’t follow that it’s objectively a bad piece of television.

Hmm. Considering that only 57% of Moffat’s episodes pass the Bechdel Test (compared to 89% under RTD), cracking a joke about men is probably the least he could do. Hopefully series 11 redresses the balance somewhat!

So I just imagined it when Miss Winters (Robot), Maaga (Galaxy 4) and Ruth Ingram (The Time Monster) made disparaging comments about men in the classic era? And it’s interesting that, in 55 years of the show, you’ve chosen to focus on a single anti-men line, rather than the dozens of examples of sex...

Big difference is in the presentation. Back then they knew how to do it with nuance and subtlety, through parody and/or satire. I still have no idea what the hell Happiness Patrol has to do with Thatcher, but I guess that one's politics are kind of dated now - as opposed to Vengeance on Varos, whic...

Ohhhhhh look at you with your proper publisher and famous artist cover. But who is the bestb writer of unofficial Transformers books? It is you. You do yourself a massive disservice, I think! Your Transformation books really are fantastic! Forget the cover and the publisher, it’s the content that r...

Dunno, hopefully!!! Copy editing is done, and the manuscript has been sent back to me for a final once-over, which I should be finished with this week. Apparently cover art is in hand, so... who knows!! It says 2018 on the copyright stuff on the inside-front page, so... 50/50 chance, maybe?

Yeah, I’m using an intermediary. Luckily I have some old friends who moved to the US some years ago, and they were willing to help out!

Sorry to hear people had issues booking their tickets! I must have lucked out big time because it seemed quite a smooth process to me, got my tickets and room no problem.

And a Stan Bush ticket, of course, because that man is an absolute legend!
