Re:
I shall be back in due course... I wasn't back in really any course. I tend to agree with just about everyone. Whilst it was far from a defining moment in cinema history, I think it was the best TF movie so far. It being a reboot of the 2007 film wasn't so bad for me as I felt it was more enjoyable...

I've only just caught up on this. Have to agree that Issue 24's matrix opening scene was a fantastic (and tear jerking) moment. I'm really sad to see LL go really. Barber's Optimus Prime series less so. I feel like the Lost Light saga combined is right up there with my favourite TF comic runs of all...

Interesting. To me it feels like they’re aimed directly at us (which I know is nuts, as you point out we’re not the target market if they want to make money. But it still feels like (and I’m pointing directly at MTMTE/Lost Light) that its for us the fans that have been following Transformers since ...

I felt like RID was always building up to some big insurrection of Starscream and part of me is glad that what I expected to happen didn't (though at this stage I am only up to TAAO #8, OP #6 and LL #1).... Maybe I should actually finish catching up before saying this stuff.... I find my relationshi...

I skipped all the Revolutionary’s issues except for MTMTE Revolutions. In that one the author felt the same as you and used it as a pisstake of everything that silly about desperate crossovers. I liked it a lot. :) Thanks, I've picked up that one issue of it, and made a start on the Optimus Prime s...

Catching up on IDW
Hi All, I got years behind on the IDW runs (last was MTMTE/RID #28) and have been bringing myself up to scratch by following this reading list: http://www.howtolovecomics.com/2016/10/17/idws-transformers-reading-order/ I've just finished "Til All Are One" #8 and have purchased the TPBs of "Optimus P...

On a semi-related bit of whorish self-promotion, I've just guested on a podcast talking about that casual fan/"real" fan tension, in which the Bay films do come up: https://civildpodcast.com/2017/07/02/civil-discourse-1-casuals-gatekeeping-and-full-frontal-discourse/ Thanks, enjoyed that pod. I went in with low expectations, and they still disappointed me. Yup. I was sat there wondering how the entire US navy makes its way to the UK in just one afternoon, and how Anthony Hopkins goes from London to Oxford to Dover and back to London again all via Bank junction and in the space of about ...

Kinda hope at some point starscream puts prime on trial. Well, on this front, my main question mark in the "show" of Megatron's trial is as to whether his senior command would also come under scrutiny. And whether the likes of Soundwave and, yea, Starscream should stand trial also, it's not like St...

--We've never had a line from Nominus yet, right? Not that I am aware. And this, of course, gives the writers more freedom to make up the odd Prime here and there to fit in with whatever historical context is being flashbacked (flashbackised? Flashbuck?) at the time. "Hmm, we need a fascist dictato...

So the Primalists believe in the word of Primus, or something? And has there been any explanation on how Primus felt about functionism? Or does that remain vague? The relationship between religion and state confuses me, it doesn't really seem that religion has much sway at all. Then again, it probab...

IDW continuum and -isms
Hi, I was re-reading the "Shadowplay" double header from MTMTE (And rather good it was) the other day and had a few questions concerning the depiction of political strife on pre-war Cybertron. So, we have "Functionists" - Am I right in thinking these are people that believe in, essentially, a caste ...

...this is a style of writing I've never encountered in a TF comic before. The more I read and re-read issues in this series the more I am convinced that this is some of the best TF fiction I've read in the 28 years since I started reading TF comics. So yea, grand stuff, long may it continue (And w...

But it builds and it builds till we get the Prime/Hot Rod/Megatron scene. Which quotes the film more faithfully than IDW's own adaptation does. Exactly! And oddly enough, I don't really think I should know what words are going to feature in the next speech bubble when reading a comic book for the f...

Oh me too, but it needs a bit of care which I think is overall beyond IDW. Take for example the Blur Spotlight. That was set back in the past but Autocracy pretty much rules it out because there of how Orion Pax is potrayed and Optimus Prime is created. It wouldnt hurt if IDW tried to insert new ch...

Personally I think there's a pretty clear escalation across the three films - he's relatively mellow in the first one (surely no-one has any sort of moral problem with him killing Bonecrusher?). Bonecrusher's demise was in the heat of battle, these things happen. As was Megatron's a bit. Sentinel P...

Seemed pretty pissed to me - Demolishor had just rampaged through Shanghai, killing several NEST troops and probably a few civilians as well, ignored at least one order to surrender and shown no remorse whatsoever for his actions. Yea, alright, maybe he was a bit wound up then. Showing Magneto merc...
