Re: Revisitation: The IDW Original Continuity Retrospective.
The main issue I have with Stormbringer is that it's too soon and serves mainly to announce a total lack of faith in the Earth book and undermine the ramping up of conflict there. There's no real baseline for comparison in the IDW universe as it existed then that suggests it's a big deal, and we don...

Re: Hound's backlog
I've generally come to the conclusion that reading comics on a large monitor is a better experience, and if someone had bothered to scan eg the UK Essential X-Men reprints I'd get shot of them in a heartbeat (as it is, the idea of having the first however many years of them since 1995 (I think V1 an...

I've tended to use 40K ones on things, like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Warhammer-40k-Adeptus-Mechanicus-Vinyl-Graphics-sticker-From-75mm-to-125mm/323320700831 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warhammer-40K-Game-vinyl-sticker-decal-gamers-iron-eagle-imperium-laptop-window/401001437196 And there's one of...

Re: Which of Your Transformers can pull off the best "Naruto Run"?
Do you still use a dedicated camera, or do you have a smart phone? Smart phone hardware, anyway (no SIMs / no SIM hardware). Got a tripod and some older digital cameras I keep meaning to look at tethered options for and I suppose I've got space to set up a light box now. But it's difficult to be ar...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Sure, every so often a plucky underdog belonging to multi-billion dollar corporations that buy copyright law makes it through. Disney's better at this sort of thing than Marvel and is relatively recently started with their IP. Cap might have the branding advantage that other characters lack, and the...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Don't think MCU has the brand recognition of Transformers or Bats and Supes or Barbie, actually. It's having a good run and certain characters like Spidey are possibly up there but long-running doesn't equate to product on the shelves consistently for decades and household name status for that long....

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
There's such a glut of cartoons and attached toylines now with there being several channels dedicated to cartoon content not to mention Youtube and other streaming providers that kids don't get as attached to one above all the others so much. Not to say that no one will ever get attached to toys an...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Ah, I see we're giving the retro approach to discussion another spin. If my interaction with younger generations is any indication the mindset of "I'm older and have disposable income and will indulge in childhood loves" isn't nearly as much a thing as it was for us. Give them another ten years. Als...

I think the difference is that Elvis is likely to retain substantial cultural cachet into the next century, it's just that the bubble's burst on mass-produced stuff connected to him.
There are still new generations getting into Nirvana.

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Love the outdoor pics with BW figures. And I remember Cryotek getting a lot of love way back when, but haven't seen one in years and looking at it now it's easy to see why it's always been such a favourite for people. Primal Prime is one I do kind of regret moving on and would pick up a modern redec...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!
Alright, after giving some thought as to what I consider "top ten of the decade" and then subsequently procrastinating on taking actual pictures, I've decided to skip photography and just use links. Looking around the room, I realise most of my picks come down to "looks cool", "strong nostalgic con...

Re: Book Me, Dano.
Target adaptations? Some of them add a fair bit of depth (which is partly why people kept a higher opinion of the old series, as they were remembering from the books rather than TV that hadn't been shown in years). It'll probably make you notice more how padded the episodes are.

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!
About a week or so ago I found SS86 Jazz at Walmart. Passed on Kup and Blurr, since I don't have any interest in those two. But Jazz is pretty great. Very clean aesthetic (as it should be for the cartoon) but I think it has enough panel detail to work in a Classics collection. Even though I have th...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC
Bloody ridiculous. Something health services here are doing routinely AFAIK. It's looking more and more that antibodies don't necessarily form detectably without a strong reaction (and the only way to guarantee that safely isn't catching it in the wild) so wouldn't be surprised if that comes back cl...

Never realised it was science fiction / future set, or that it was written that far back (having said that Dragonlance is almost as ancient now). Have snagged a paperback. If you read magical school genre, Kim Newman's alright at it; https://www.goodreads.com/series/230213-drearcliff-grange It ...

Yep. They're here -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lBVVAo8Y38&list=PLZsrxxME7K30aQywpsS0rdSORFDn4qmYm It's not a TPK type of campaign (as of the end of chapter four, anyway) and the DM drops a lot of background information in so it should make sense to anyone who isn't familiar with Ravenloft. Was it tracksuits or shellsuits? Sort of remember that, was there a huge public scandal? lately I keep heavily hinting that I want this , because I love the youtube series but Hound is absolutely fricking terrible with hints, even when the hint is "Hey, you can buy me this as a gift". If his...
