Re: Can someone explain to me why so many people hate Michael Bay's Transformers movies?

I've liked them.

But their excess in the fiddly details, the aesthetic mentioned, kinda reminds me of the particular synth pop sound pioneered by Donna Summer in the mid-to-late 70s ... at first it's brilliant and then, later as it's been done to death, it just distracts.

...its also occurred to me that the most revitialising entries in the long life of Transformers have been the ones produced with minimal interference from Hasbro themselves. Which may explain why the slightly patchwork and contrived nature of Prime has yet to win me over. What would G1 have been wi...

opinions? Judging from my earlier posts in the thread I'm both a hopeless geek and occasional smartass? ;) ... But ... the idea that it was Unicron's ramping up Megatron's —everything— that led to some of his woes as well as a power boost might make good fodder for some fanfic. There is precedent i...

One thing about the Falklands that always gets me is that the Argentinians were apparently taken somewhat by surprise, or such was my perception at the time. I mean, there's the fleet setting sail and all that with the clear message: "We're coming!" and it's hardly a mystery at how long it...

Goin' South is a rather unusual western romance that I'd recommend. It stars Jack Nicholson and Mary Steenburgen as the "couple" and has no less than John Belushi in the cast. Christopher Lloyd too. And while is was never hard core —anything— the Apple Dumpling Gang has always been fun whe...

Not to even pretend I'm saying something you haven't known all your adult life: British resistance to the Eurozone has been well entrenched so long that it was the stuff of sympathetic jokes for 1970s sitcoms (Yes, Minister comes to mind). And I will honestly profess a long standing sympathy for it ...

I've been using it for a little over a month now, and it seems pretty good so far. Beats Vista and I'm not sure how much continued support XP will have. I've been pleased with Avast!
