Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

It is nice that I can hook a Raspberry Pi (a small computer that runs Linux) up to it and watch Youtube videos in my living room. With a fan? How's the heat and does it play 1080p content reliably? Contemplating similar if I ever buy a TV, as the fanless Shuttle XS35GT I've got still lying around i...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Well, all the money I've been saving means I've upgraded to a 4K TV and blu ray player at last. I tell you what my fine friends, Moonraker looks amazing on a 4K TV. Roger Moore's face, less so. I was using an old tube TV until last September, when my parents gave me their 42 inch 720p plasma after ...

Re: What TV shows are you watching thread.

There's been a few times when Lego Masters explained some things, like SNOT = Studs Not On Top. Explaining more advanced stuff would probably go over the heads of people watching who aren't already super into Legos. They're hoping the show gets more people to buy bricks, so they don't want to intimi...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

That's the golden rule, isn't it? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Or is there a fancier name for it in philosophy proper? The general principle was a bit broader, about equality. An action could only be considered ethical if it would be OK for everyone to perform the same action....

Re: What TV shows are you watching thread.

I've also been watching Lego Masters . The first episode, where all the builds were pushed together, made it hard to see where one ended and another began during the judging, so I was unsure how I'd like the rest of the series. But, I've liked the rest, especially the bridge challenge where they ran...

"Is this entertainment?" It is now. Late night talk shows, SNL, movie stars singing Imagine. It's all just people chatting on webcams. At least the three of you have figured out not to have the camera 4 feet from a wall, with yourself crammed in between, which is better than Conan's done. If I got t...

Have you looked at the Studio Series redeco of this figure? It's got clear headlights and a lot less red. It comes with baby Dinobots, so it retailed for a bit more than the normal figure. I don't know what it goes for now. I like that the otaku Autobot transforms into a Bugatti or a Mercedes, never...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

I know my mask protects other people more than me. But, I can't expect other people to wear masks to protect me if I'm not willing to do the same for them. I forget the name for this principle, but it's one of two things I remember from half a dozen philosophy courses in college. The other is when w...

Does WWII Hot Rod's fake kibble in bot mode match his actually vehicle parts? On WWII Bee, they don't. for example, the vehicle mode lacks the side mirrors seen on Bee's chest. The number 10 on his leg doesn't appear in vehicle mode, either. Which I guess helps with the whole "Robots in Disguise" an...

In other puzzling retail excursions, B&M are open as they carry food and household essentials. Oddly, aisles with non-essentials - gardening, DIY, toys - were all fenced off. Yet Supermarkets who have a mix of essentials and non-essentials are okay to sell non-essentials..? Here, stores like Wal-ma...

This Saturday, for the first time in 3 weeks, I left the single square mile containing my home, work, and grocery store, and made a three mile trek to pick up a pizza. Either the pizza was bad, or I ate too much, as I had a stomach ache Sunday night into Monday morning, and didn't even leave the hou...

There should be a word between "would" and "weird" in Transformation Design. Other than that, great review. I especially like comparing the vehicle mode to a train. It never would've occurred to me, but I get it. I have a more favorable view of this alt mode now that you've got me looking at it in a...

The Lt Governor of Texas said old people like him would be willing to risk their lives for the economy. Some other Texas Republicans back him . Putting aside how morally abhorrent this is, it wouldn't even work. How good is the economy going to be with millions sick and dying, and everyone else afra...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Manitoba has about the same population, but only 100 cases. But I'm pretty sure those numbers are artificially surpressed because they still won't test anyone unless they've travelled, contacted a confirmed case or are seriously ill. Our real numbers are probably right where yours are. Manitoba onl...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

My state had 55 new cases Sunday morning, and another 114 new cases this (Monday) morning, bringing our total to just over 400. This afternoon, our Governor announced another 80-something cases, bringing the total to around 490. It's evening as I write this, so there's probably a few more. Given our...

Re: Cyberverse actually has some neat new characters and designs, doesn't it? (Hammerbyte)

I've been finding Cyberverse Warriors, like Hammerbyte at Walmart for US$12. Target has them for $15. Both have the Deluxes, like Thunderhowl, for $20. Some of the earlier Warriors, like Windblade and Megatron, have made it to discounters for US$5. I just opened my Hammerbyte, and Denyer's right abo...

My job is...just grab a cage and work it. So, you're a go-go dancer? The state I live and work in (Rhode Island) is very small. A lot of my coworkers commute daily from a neighboring state (Massachusetts), So, those people have to be concerned with the policies of both states. If Mass goes on lockd...

The U. S. Navy facility I work at is a Working Capital Fund. This means we are not funded by the budgets and continuing resolutions that Congress and the President pass. Instead, agencies that are funded by those budgets and CRs give us money to do projects. The good part of this is that we don't ha...
