I think my problem with Charles is that he seems to old to become king. Liz was a beautiful young princess who aged into dear old queenie. I can't imagine some old fart just plonking his arse down on the throne. It ought to skip Charles and go straight to William. It's not the X-Factor. We don't ge...

^^ Probably NSFW.

[EDIT] Sidebar: QI repeats on in the bg on Dave. Apparently the Catholic church classify beavers and capybara as fish. They're just on another ****ing planet.

It's not public money. It's their country, therefore it's their money. It's got his nan's face on it and everything - branded, like cattle.

I should clarify - it's not that I don't like superheroes in particular. I think I just find them daft and dull often. Give Nextwave a go. It doesn't take itself at all seriously. The closest it comes to an ongoing thematic is the joy of shit blowing up. There's even a plot. Of sorts. Ocean is sat ...

Oh, didn't mean it in a derogatory way at all. It's not a term I generally use... superhero stuff. Some of it's brilliant, some of it's awful, a lot of it's generic. But the ones I love are the ones that come along and just ignore the standard Stan Lee rulebook to create something genuinely inspired...

and it's pleasant to have something pleasant in the news for a change. We're likely going to have to endure approximately 6-9 months of blanket coverage. Saying it's pleasant to have something pleasant in the news is a bit like greeting winter in the Antarctic with "nice that the sun's gone do...

I opted against recommending Planetary until you've more of a grounding in general superhero comics. Though it's not essential, a big part of the joy is in what traditional series is being lampooned/reinvented/awesomified in each issue. Though a lot of them are obvious to anybody with just a passing...

Preacher
The Sandman
The Ultimates
The Authority
Nextwave
Y the Last Man
Scott Pilgrim

Not necessarily in that order, though.

I think the biggest irony is - if indeed it is true that the negative meaning in the UK is why the name Slag was ditched - that "slag" is actually most commonly used in a joking fashion here, much in the same way that "spaz" can be in the States.

[/public service announcement with guitars] From what I understand, the legislation used to prosecute the guy was a law originally brought in to prevent nuisance...
