A mistake from a critical/collector point of view as it raised expectations but if they'd led with Sideswipe would we have got that far? IIRC licences were drummed up a couple at a time as results came in and gradually got easier with the success of the first few so the Subaru might have been one of...

Eh, I'd deny it even that. Basing them largely on mid-market contemporary cars made for a pretty boring line-up even with the high level of detail; only the Jeep, Mustang and GT40 really stood out as particularly nice-looking cars. In the real world an S2000 or an RX-7 is a nice flash car; in a fant...

Yeah, the shrinking is what finally broke it off to me. DOTM was right on the cusp for me with the Deluxe cars like the Wreckers who lost an inch or two to make room for those silly spring weapons but Drift and Crosshairs were just too much of a level-breaker for a shelf line-up compared to ROTF Sid...

I think Hasbro are actually doing what they can for the line in a harsh economy that's probably only going to get tougher; action figures are a dying thing sadly as costs just keep rising and they get trapped in that cycle; Transformers are a luxury for a lot of fans, let alone kids with so many oth...

I'd be surprised if there's actually a huge amount of product TBH after two lines that outright flopped; the most sensible thing would be to feed a mix of new moulds and repaints into Generations - similar to the Japanese AoE line. Hasbro are probably making more at the box office than they are from...

Longer thoughts after reading: - Didn't mind Kylo Ren as much as many do; he's clearly a decoy or pawn villain similar to Darth Maul rather than the bad guy; felt they did a good job of showing him as a Vader fanboy with a lot to learn. The impression I got was that the First Order had been enjoying...

I'm just directing slurs at comics I've yet to read; was vaguely aware that she had been recalled to the spotlight. I thought she got eighties'd up at one point? Or was that a different one who was in West Coast Avengers? TBH my Marvel knowledge is getting distinctly spotty. The figs are pretty cool...

[L-R] The Beast! In full Jim Lee/underwhelming cartoon glory, with a mug of tea. A bit like Colossus it's a shame he doesn't have a slightly more benign face but he's still super. Wolverine: don't seem to do the yellow/blue classic costume so the yellow/brown did compared to the plethora of film-ins...

So I'm addicted to off-brand Lego minifig KOs

So you might have seen these popping up on ebay and/or my facebook feeds; basically a lot of Chinese factory workers have realised the money in copying licenced Lego minifigs and the result is that you can get them for about £1.50 shipped from China, with some people even selling them over here and ...

I think the problem with the TNG films is as said they're the Picard and Data show but there's also the seeming obligation to give the rest something to do; whereas the TOS ones and the TF films for two examples are the Kirk/Spock/maybe a bit McCoy but it kinda varies show/the Optimus and Bumblebee ...

Patrick Stewart is great and everything you say about him is true, but none of that happens if Captain Picard didn't make him a household name first. Without TNG he wouldn't have been anything more than a mildly successful, prematurely bald theatre actor. Undoubtedly; he'd never have got Xavier wit...

I'd seriously argue with Picard making much impact; Patrick Stewart, with his decade as Professor X, his nice-blokishness, his showreel Extras scenes and his social media bromance with Ian McKellen had made a lot of impact but I'm not sure how much that transfers back onto the show or character anym...

On the other hand, you should see the Paw Patrol display at my local Toys R Us. Hot damn. Soooooo many puppies. We've been lowered to buying Apollo the Superdog. Personally I don't think the TNG crew work for films at all. I like First Contact but that's because it junks the format and it's basically a space actioner focused largely on Picard and Data. The rest... we've seen enough of them, basically. We've had seven years of, say, Troi or Crusher or Worf no...

Yep, all four new leads were pretty good; Poe got a little squeezed but will probably come into his own a bit more with Han out of the way, Rey's just fantastic without being a shouty Whedon-style new femme cliche and Finn's a great anchor. Kylo Ren came off nicely as well,a new Vader without being ...

The consistent box office really is amazing; you'd think it'd have dropped off by now even with how barren big budget films are. But I think it's just as simple as people quite like a film about giant shapeshifting robots every couple of years and Transformers has that one sewn up - the same way Pir...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films#Highest-grossing_films Wiki-wandering and remembered this; yes, inflation and all of that but am I the only one who finds that utterly utterly mental? Saw it. Loved it. The new characters were fantastic, there was adventure, movement, nostalgia, a preposterously old Harrison Ford, an organic set-up for fun continuing adventures, effects that didn't look like effects, consistent haircuts... Rogue One is probably going to be ****ing dreadful and if ...
