The 'Megatron uses Hot Rod as a shield' is also omitted from the (horrible) comic adaptation.

I kinda hope they'll make the same change to the upcoming IDW version.

No. But since Universe line doesn't formally exist in the Europe, where else could they have come from?

Well as far as it goes for me, I'd be happy if they released even some of the earlier Armada toys. Maybe a remolded Prime who can shoot all the way up in supermode?

Hasbro would have a good thing going if they started releasing some of the rarer and sought-after Japan-exclusives under the Universe label. Hell, maybe even Robot Masters.

Of course, I can see those stupid American toy safety laws rearing their ugly heads again...

Well that's what you get for making store exclusives. It's no use complaining when they don't sell if you limit them to only one chain.

And yes, I do believe Aerialbots have been released in US.
