EDIT: And Machination Empire really doesn't gel with hardly anyone in AHM being aware of the evil terrorist controlled robots and mistaking them for film stars does it? Nnnnope. More and more I wonder why they decided to have AHM be in continuity with the -tions. Not only does it dampen the effecti...

I felt the statement justified because of the relative timidness of what is being discussed. The survival of awareness and self for a time after death (not even necessarily a long time - the longest NDEs I've heard of have been associated with clinical death of upwards of 4 or so hours) can be supp...

This is a strange side of the forums.

Rurudyne, I would really like to know how you came to this conclusion:
Anecdotal evidence may be weak but it is better than no evidence at all.
Just seeing it has put 10 years on my life.

I'm surprised at the somewhat lackluster reactions from a lot of people so far. I'm inclined to agree with Commander Shockwav that the issue's flaws are largely a result of the shortened arc, and it's worth looking past those in evaluating the story. It was a good read, with a fair share of memorabl...

Someone just called offering to install a security system in my house if I put one of their signs in their yard. They didn't say who they were. Does anyone know if or which candidate it was? And what's the catch? That sounds like a good way to burgle someone's home; maybe they weren't with a campai...

Actually, Rossum, it's been ACORN that's done this the most heavily in recent years, primarily to black and hispanic voters .... and they back Democrats. That said, it was also used in the primaries by one of the GOP contenders against another and it was really bad around here for some time. Of cou...

So how do you determine whether automated calls are actually from a given candidate and not the ****ers in opposition? Or does it tend to be a case of preferring to believe ill of one side? I'm still struggling to believe either faction gets away with this shit. Well, they don't so much anymore, lo...

It probably depends on where they live. For the presidential election, swing state voters are probably more likely to get that kind of spamming. I know I see very little in my area, aside from the occasional leaflet and postcard for city council members or state legislators.

Every time Sarah Palin says 'you betcha' or pronounces nuclear as "nuculer" or talks about being a maverick, I want to roam the streets and commit violent acts. Wasn't the VP debate wonderful? All the commentary afterward summed up to "Well, she didn't fail spectacularly so it's a su...

...and ANGST! Not the 'angst from war' stuff which, ya know, a lot of the audience these days might be able to relate to, but the Hollywood-style angst where people get moody when they don't get Starbucks in the morning. Aside from too much focus on Verity (which was dropped by the end of Infiltrat...

I has the impression watching the debate that McCain came off better overall than Obama did presentation-wise I'm not going to try to comment on what they said, since the FactCheck post above does a much better job; but McCain did a good job of playing up the "serious experienced old warrior&qu...

Any chance you know what kind of offshoot, or how the new word played off of 'beatnik' (using the beat or the nik)? I ended up spending about 45 minutes on Google last night trying to find it. I got nothing, though I learned a bit about the Beat movement.

And I'm firmly of the belief that compacting the Dead Furmanverse is the best thing that could have happened, and it's perhaps a shame some way wasn't found of putting pressure on Furman three years ago so we didn't have three six-part minis where basically nothing happens. I mean, Revelations and ...

I wonder if fans would be so inclined to judge AHM so harshly had Simon's stuff not been abbreviated? I mean, I read the series as a bit slow, yes, but not anywhere near as bad as some have said. My opinion of it is more in line with most U.S. based TF websites have felt vs. UK-based websites, that...

Second on Prestige, it's very strange and dramatic and completely absorbing. Breach is the only other one I've seen, and I highly recommend it. Very tightly-wound CIA story based on real-life events. It doesn't have a lot action scenes, but it never feels slow and keeps you tense despite knowing how...

She probably appeals to the more moderate Christians along with the zealous ones, since she comes across as very firm in her beliefs without being showy about it. My paranoid side is tempted to agree that some of the violent protesters may well have been plants to make the rest look bad. However, it's equally likely that U.S. left-wingers are just demonstrating their incredible ability to shoot themselves (or their cause) in the foot. Someone needs to sit a l...
