decpticon jets

Post by Cyclonus »

Have you noticed that just about all the Decepticon jets are all the same and I mean exactly the same, even their voices are the same. The only thing is their color.

Well, not really. A few of the generic Seekers in More Than Meets The Eye and The Ultimate Doom are somewhat like Thundercracker (the "I'll saddle ya back!" guy comes to mind), but that's all I can think of. Each of the named jets seems quite unique from the rest to me, voices included. The actors are different guys...

I've noticed differences.

Frank Welker, John Stephenson, Chris Latta, Bud Davis, Jack Angel and Ed Gilbert don't sound that much alike.

Maybe it's just me.

I've gotta concur with my lanky colleague, all 6 jets really seem to be unique from one another. You can make an argument that the coneheads are somewhat similar and dim-witted, but even they have their unique quirks, more in the cartoon than in the comic...

Why did their heads have to be cone shaped?

Thrust was my particular favourite of the second generation jets, and on their toy boxes, none of them had that cone shape, they were all like Starscream, 'Warp and Cracker.

Who'se idea was it to do this? and is he still sane?

With my Ramjet I just popped the head up into the Conhead position...And I have often wondered why the Conehead toys weren't meant to be Coneheads...

To me the coneheadedness made them look like GO-BOTS *shudder*.

Maybe it was a way to further distinguish them in a more obvious way.

That was pretty much it, distinguishment.

Which is funny considering the first year jets WERE all alike in design except color scheme, and the second year jets had all different parts for their main body construct.

Yeah,

To be fair the 1st generation of seekers should have been coneheads, as they were the same apart from colour. Well, none of them should have been coneheads in the first place.

I think the only real possible cause of confusion would have been between Starscream and Ramjet, just because their bodies where white, but that's as hard as it got, right?
