Fun enough knockabout, and I appreciate the fact that -- if there are going to be Spotlights -- they should read separately.
Don't think we need Spotlights with an author like Roberts on a main title, though. The Spotlight approach most "benefits" main titles (including RiD and the previous ongoing) where for no good reason the editors have embargoed interesting new concepts and feel the need to offer some in a separate book.

Agreed. I doubt any actual character could be as funny as the idea of a Decepticon with a wand and such a horrible name. A part of me hopes that random, wand-carrying characters start to show up in group shots, though, just to mess with people.Red Dave Prime wrote:Also - I hope they never show Killmaster or do a spotlight on him. That would kill the whole joke.
Spotlights in the style of what we've gotten in the past, I can agree with. I do think there's a fair bit of mileage to be gotten out of the general idea, though. Though I'm not a fan of AHM, I've always felt that the Spotlights released around the same time was the only run that actually got it right: they told interesting stories that added some depth to secondary characters without being a part of the ongoing narrative. I figure if the stories are going to tie into the main plot they should be part of the main plot, not isolated in a disingenuous alleged one-shot that some people will miss and others will be confused by since they haven't been following the main book. Most of the Spotlight issues in the Furman era were so closely tied into the main story that they might as well have just been normal issues, and coming on so close on the heels of Shadowplay this one has that same sort of feel.Denyer wrote:Don't think we need Spotlights with an author like Roberts on a main title, though. Killswitch will probably be behind Luna 1.
Conisdering that, whilst it's not prime (ho ho) Roberts it's still inoffensive enough, I'm surprised by how negative the general reaction elsewhere has been to this one.

[Timothy Spall] Well it's obvious aint it? Killswitch has a wand, you hold a wand in your hand, Mortilus is in the Guiding Hand so obviously Mortilus is the Wand! It's a blatant clue. [/Timothy Spall]Red Dave Prime wrote:Nah, that was Mortilus. Or was it??????!!!!!??????:eyebrow:
Actually, there have been a lot of hand references accross MTMTE...
