Why Bash TF:TM ?

Post by Luda-Chris »

Why do so many people like to complain about the minor inconsistancies in the movie.
Dosent everyone remember how thrilled they were the first time they saw it. Its only cause weve all seen it a million times thatwe notice the stuff ups. TF:TM is a great movie for its more violent and mature than the average kids cartoon, yet not as perverted and violent as Anime(not that thats always bad)

I like the fact that you generalise all anime as 'bad' and 'perverted', well done on being so perceptive. Firstly Anime is not obsessed with sex, or violence, the western audience only sees a slice of Anime, and i presume you have seen only a small amount of anime due to your ignorance!!. sorry about that!, but for great Anime try Laputa, Neon Evangelion, Princess Mononoke

Lastly, I think TFTM hasn't been slated that bad, the fact we had to endure and wait so long, and then find out that the end product is well not up to scratch is understandable. Also the mistakes many people noticed are really for fun, I mean we not going to riot over them are we?, its a cartoon for gawd sake. Pointing out little inconcistences are fun, and I think many TF fans don't mind, well I'm guessing anyway Image

Again I'm sorry I gad to 'correct' you, but I won't apologise for my comments. I hope though you have a great time here though.

Why do people mock the Movie? Because they've seen it, perhaps?

Now don't get me wrong... I love this film. I love the animation (still darned good quality after 15 years), I love the cheesy 80s rock and synth soundtrack; I really like this film.

I know why most of the characters didn't appear in it (script written early season 2); I know the original script was, in many places, superior to what was produced. Nothing is every going to stop me appreciating this film, though, because of the memories it invokes. It has "Dare" in it, which is joint with "Run With Us" (theme to The Racoons) as "most inspiring song I heard in my first fifteen years"...

So, anyways, I'll pick it apart and re-evaluate bits as I care to... what's wrong with a bit of kinky sex, anyways? TF pornfic forever... *yawns*

Films don't change. We change, therefore our observation of films evolves.

I just hate the fact I had to come up with a theory to why Blaster suddenly disappears after the shuttle escape scene.

I thought it sucked. Unicron is just a giant plot device just tossed into the movie, and he can only be stopped by an even bigger plot device: the autobot matrix of leadership, which is just made up on the spot for the movie.

Add in lots of inconsistancies and tons of throwaway deaths, and you have a "feature length toy commercial", as Leonard Maltin said (and me agreeing with Leonard Maltin is a first.)

Not "made-up" exactly... more rewritten well enough that Mr Lucas couldn't make the charges stick...

Personally, I liked the throw-away deaths... remember: this is a show about a civil war. It was the rest of the series that sucked in that regard; about as realistic as mining plutonium with broccoli.

I really loved the movie, I would have even said it was my favorite movie of all time until I saw Lord of the Rings. I'll always consider the animation to be amazing because you'll never see G1 animation that good. Some of the script is very bad, but the actual transformers, their fights, and their personalities are what makes the movie special and that's what I like about it.

I agree with Denyer here.

Bad things happen in life. Things happen for no good reason.

Unicron's appearance showed how petty the Autobot and Decepticon war was. At the end of the day, the War amounted to jack squat.
Their bickering did absolutely nothing to aid against the menace Primacron's creation was.

I always viewed the end of the film as hollow because of it, since I always felt Rodimus could not declare the wars over simply because he hurled Galvatron into space, and because Shockwave appeared to be terminated. Wow. Big victory. I digress.

Of course, later the writers explained that Primacron built Unicron, but why is the idea that he suddenly showed up hard to comprehend? (Does it really matter WHY or HOW he appeared so important than "How do we stop this thing?") Gigantic asteroids that could potentialy end life as we know it on Earth if they every impacted exist. Tornadoes. Hurricanes. Earthquakes. Pestilence. Famine.

All the stuff I just listed are facts of life, and show that some of our day to day concerns don't amount to anything once they hit.

Sure, the war was what drove the show. But Friedman (for whatever reason) decided to say "There are some forces in existence that are much larger then what we are familiar with."

That's all I've got to say about that.

The Autobot Matrix of Leadership and the Creation Matrix are two different things. I'm talking about movie and cartoon continuity. It didn't exist in the first two seasons, and then the movie informs us that it is the Autobot's most important possession and it's constantly mentioned in the third season. That's dumb.

And I don't mind character deaths at all, but they were done so absurdly, and all to make room for new, uninteresting characters.

Why don't I like the Movie? There are so many reasons...

- On a basic level, the second half isn't very interesting. We're given a boring, predictable runaround with new "exciting" characters hurled at us every five minutes.

- The Crap Rock score.

- After 20 years of Autobots taking full-on blasts from Decepticons, they suddenly start dropping like flies.

- Wheelie, who on top of being annoying, is also totally pointless.

- Grimlock. He's a t**t.

- The character-rape of Ultra Magnus.

- Hot Rod. He's an stupid 80s brat.

- Too many new 'transformer' races. Between the Lithones, Sharkticons/Quintessons and the Junkions, we've got 3 races which take away from the uniqueness of the Transformers without actually adding anything.

- Megatron's Stupidest Plan Yet. "Hmm, the Autobots are orbiting Cybertron with moons full of Dinobots making death-weapons. i'll just take my entire force to another planet to knock over their relatively inoffensive sand-castle".

- Arcee. Stupidest idea ever, seeing as the idea was probably conceived before Elita-1 et al.

- New characters that were intorduced for very little reason. Blurr, Cyclonus, Scourge and the aforementioned Wheelie all had not an awful lot to do, and the likes of Magnus were effectively discarded...

- The very idea that a jackass like Megatron would actually be able to kill someone...

- The way Kup's character was actually ironhide's, with a new toy.

- The lack of explantion of where the hell Unicron came from. Then season 3 came along and deicded to make an arse of it anyway...

Well, Megatron only managed to kill anyone because Starscream was firing him. Sure, he probably reduced Ironhide's head to its' component atoms, but that's only because Starscream mowed him down to begin with.

Plus Unicron is stupid enough to swallow Galvatron whole while he's wearing the Matrix. I somehow doubt it's a good idea to swallow the one thing in the universe that can kill you. He should have wound-up and thrown the Matrix across the galaxy, or into a star, or something.

And don't forget that stupid dance on the planet of Junk.

Interesting feedback

Sorry about the generalization of Anime, but i do feel some GOOD movies have been put down a bit by being a bit perverted and being too violent such as Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North star and SA Cobra. Yeah its cool but sometimes its too much.

Also some of the new charecters in TF:TM were cool, Blurr and Hot Rod were cool cars and blurr wasnt that bad in season three,he talked,(im simple to amuse), but i disagree also that Scorge and Cyclonus sucked. They gave the Decepticons a bit of ranking, and Cyclonus gave the decpticons more crediblity in season 3 for the fact that altough he was evil, he still had d goos values (loyalty, admiration,Respect)and hence a Brain. He was a contrast too Starscream.

I think that TF:TM is best experienced when watched with a group of TF fans - because then you all sit around and shout at the screen. It's also a wonderful piece of fun to show to non-TF fans to convince them that TF is not just chilish nonsense...don't you think??

Personally, the only bit in the film that seems out of place is all the dancing caper on Junk - The Matrix has just been lost, along with all hope - and the TFs and Junkions can dance around to annoying Weird Al music and party???? I don't think so...

Aside from that - the film rocks. It stands as one of my favourite animated features (along with the Toy Story films and the Lion King) and it's one of those wonderful films that I'll never get bored watching....
