Springer

How often did the guy use his car mode? Ive only seen it twice. In the movie while on the planet of junk, and in "Only Human".

I mean he's supposed to be a triple changer, but we really only ever see his robot and helicopter modes.

We also briefly see it in FFoD part 1.

Speaking of Springer, where did he run off to during TRoOp and Rebirth?

If I'm not completetly mistaken, I do remember seeing the car mode at least in FFoD p1 and Nightmare Planet. So, it definetly wasn't shown very often.
I think they knew that the helicopter mode and the car mode looked so much alike it would be better to use only one of them. So it wouldn't look that crappy.

And as for the TRoOp and Rebirth issues, that's one lousy thing. Altough Rebirth focused so much on the new characters that all we would've seen of Springer is him being shot down on Cybertron. But even that would've been something.
It seems that the writers just forgot him.

He mostly used his robot mode, the other 2 weren't that used.

Well, duh. Just about every transformer mainly used his robot mode. I'm talking about his alternate modes. In the times we see him, we mainly see him transformed as a helicopter

Think about it.
If you could transform into either a helicopter or a car, what would you choose?

He was known for being a helicopter. If they'd have used his car mode more often, they might have confused kids; the other triple changers had names that suited their forms, by and large. He did not.

I'd do a good mix of both, and use whichever was best for certain situations

Yes, but it's a valid point to note that post-Movie characters seemed to transform less than season 1 & 2 counterparts... perhaps it was part of the change of orientation to include fantastical elements such as "Madman's Paradise"...

Note too that in "Chaos" and other episodes, much is made of the ability of combiner teams to merge, and we see more of the "animal alt-mode" TFs in eps such as "Call Of The Primitives"...

The alt-modes of vehicle TFs didn't seem to see as much use; if used at all, they were usually incidental to what passed for a plot, compared to earlier episodes in which the Constructicons infiltrated human territories; there was a big shift towards futuristic craft and off-Earth action.

Good, I'm not the only one to notice that "transforming" seemed to be less and less important in Season 3.

But neither is transforming into a vehicle that relies on air to give lift to it...
