Prowl's Office, Autobase

"Do you believe you require supervision, Springer?" Prowl slightly raised his brow. "No, that would undermine your credibility, and I would prefer Gigatron not suspect something is amiss. You will travel unaccompanied as any experienced envoy under my command would."

Prowl looked the triplechanger up and down, curling his upper lip at the scuffs and scrapes Springer had sustained during his brief visit to Debris.

"Hm, yes...when we are done here, have yourself mended and polished," he glanced down at Springer bare chest armour. "And auto-branded. If you are to represent me...ahem, represent Autobase, you must look the part."

"Not sure how talkative he'll be. Might still be in stasis lock," the ISS officer explained as he led Deftwing down the corridor of cells. "We got him that way. But, I'm sure you read through his dossier..."

They soon arrived in front of a small single-cell where Slingshot was being held. To the officer's surprise, he was back online and sitting up on the freestanding bunk.

"Prisoner C-0053, you have a visitor," he called out.

"I've been a benefactor of your little organization for awhile now*," Magnificus told Firecracker. "Of course I'm serious."

(OCC: * At least that's what I thought :|)

".....But anyway, I think introductions are in order, don't you?"

"Sure, why not," he shrugged. "Just hold on a klik and I'll have him drop on by..."

Magnifucs tapped his left audio receptor and open a com-channel.

Little Sheol, Border Regions

Blades was making his usual rounds along the Little Sheol strip, having just started his shift.

Aside from driving away the occasional reprobate that happened to stagger through the more "upper-scaled" establishments along the avenue, the evening was far from eventful. Considering that only a few days ago he was off on some misadventure with Doubledealer, Blades found the sudden change of pace somewhat jarring.

Fortunately for him, trouble always had an interesting knack of finding the wayward Protectobot. Today it arrived in the form of an incoming call.

"Yeah?" he dryly answered.

"Ah, I see that you're back in town. That's good," Magnificus said on the other line. "Haven't heard from you since you left. You'll have to tell how your vacation went."

"Heh, yeah, sorry about that," Blades sheepishly answered. "So, umm, what's up?"

"I have company over right now, so I'll keep it short. I have someone here I would like you to meet," Magnificus told him. "And a possible job opportunity. If you are interested, of course."

The Mezzanine, Border Regions

"Damned if I know what set him off," Sideswipe shrugged as he pondered Drift's question. "And I don't want to know. But it wouldn't be the first time he'd done something like that. The whole reason he was on the run in the first place was because he killed a couple of rednecks who were trying to carjack him."

He took another sip on his drink.

"I dunno, Drift. I hope that one day he'll figure out what a monster he's becoming and try to straighten himself out. It's never too late and anyone can change, but they need to want to change first. And Sunny? He doesn't."

"I'm sure he's had a chance to wake up by now," Deftwing assured the officer.

Sure enough, when the officer prompted him Slingshot pushed himself up from the floor and spat oil at their feet.

"See?" Deftwing said calmly, ignoring the insult. "Awake and aware. I can take it from here, if you don't mind."

Prowl's Office, Autobase

"No, I suppose I don't need an escort," Springer replied to Prowl. "I'll get myself patched up and Autobranded then."

Springer stood up. "So let me see if I got all this: I got to Crystal City on a ship that has a preplotted course. I deliver the message about Megatron's new WMD, hand him over the datacard with the proof and deliver the additional message that you want to extend our cease fire with Gigatron. Was that all?"

Skies, Iacon

"Soon," Wing Saber answered non-commitally to Jazz. He could have come up with an exact time if he'd chosen to, but he was still weary from all of the previous incidents, and he felt it a better use of his energy to insure he didn't fall behind or out of the sky entirely. "There does not appear to be any hostiles following us, we should be in the clear."

Iacon, back streets slum area

"Lie still... lie still..." Glit murmured.

The unit he addressed lay thrashing weakly in a slowly widening pool of fluid, optics flashing erratically, fingers clawing at the road surface.

Glit quickly scanned for likely injuries and was relieved to find none; the unit, a battered truck-changer by the look of him, had not been assaulted. No: there seemed to be internal problems.

"Ferricaceous oxydosis," Glit decided aloud. The truck-changer was, quite simply, suffering multiple system failures due to rust setting in. It was an illness of poverty and neglect, not transmissible, but it was incurable once it reached this stage. No hope, then. All a medic could do was make the patient comfortable.

"Please... don't take me to the Temple! Let me die here. Let me die cleanly."

"I will not," Glit assured and, despite his self-control, he felt his hackles rise. They were yet in shadow of the Basilica.

"My name... is Carrier," the dying unit grated. "Remember me."

Red optics flashed with sorrow. "I shall remember you, Carrier."

Then, there was nothing to do but wait and offer what comfort he could.

The Mezzanine, Border Regions

Drift shook his head. "Yeah. Nobody is beyond redemption, not even Sunstreaker. Or me. It's just whether he wants to change... so sad to know that he doesn't. It's a pity..."

Drift sipped his drink again.

"What else do you think they hide in this bar, you reckon?"

Iacon, Slums

Sunstorm walked quickly down the dark back roads of the city. Tonight's search had been a bust. The ex-Seeker clenched a fist, excess energy crackled off into the night air. He was so close to being finished, but that only meant that the rarest parts yet remained. As he rounded a corner he passed two figures huddled in the dark. One obviously was obviously quite ill. Sunstorm strode past, eager to get back home. Besides, the mech had someone there with him. What more could he do? ... ....But the mech needed help, and as Representative of Primus (a being he'd come to know far more about recently.) Sunstorm had a duty to provide aid to such as this.

Sunstorm turned around and crouched near the two.

"Is there anything I can do to help? I have a shelter nearby, and if you need it, it doesn't lack for lab equipment."

He laid a hand on the injured bots shoulder and looked him in the eye; "It's going to be alright, friend."

Iacon, slums

Glit observed Sunstorm's arrival, expecting the golden jet to merely pass on by, and so was quite startled when he back-tracked to offer help. Before he could stammer out a reply, Sunstorm had dropped down beside Carrier to place a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Carrier 'blinked', brought his optics into what focus he could. "So... bright," he murmured. "The Light. The Light beyond the Darkness."

Glit caught his pseudo-breath, knowing what Carrier was referring to - from personal experience.

Skies, aboard Wing Saber

"No problem, little guy," Jazz said in response to Searchlight. "What's gotten into you anyway? Got bit by a Kremzeek?"

"Iron Fist," Jazz said as he looked his way," contact Autobase (ooc: or wherever we're going) and tell 'em we're on our way back and that we're bringing in mechs in need of medical attention."

Aboard Wing Saber

Searchlight shrugged with difficulty

"Almost got killed , got brought back from the dead by a crazy autobot wracked with grief in the body of a convicted criminal. Same head different bodywork. Seems there are compatability issues."

Operating Room, IMR

"How is Hot Rod's condition, First Aid?" Arcee asked the ex-Protectobot, a bit disturbed by the silence that had apparently descended over the room.

Sunstorm tilted his head at the injured mech. Light beyond the darkness? What the devil does that mean? He turned to Glit.

"To the shelter then?"

Iacon, slums

"Yes." Glit made the decision firmly.

He did not want to think about anything but the possibility of helping the dying mech, whether that meant finding some way of repairing him or easing his passing.

Carrier stared at Sunstorm raptly.

Sunstorm cradled the injured robot in his arms and lifted him. As they began their way to the service hatch, Sunstorm aimed another question back at Glit

"So, what's wrong with him? What happened?"

Holding Cells, Iacon Security Service HQ

"Sure thing. I'm sure you understand visitation procedures, so I won't bother going over them with you. You know, guidelines, authorized items, contact, yadda, yadda, you know the drill," the officer told Deftwing. "We'll be monitoring the conversation in case you need anything."

The officer then politely nodded to Deftwing, turned away and made his way back down the corridor.

"Yes, that is all," Prowl answered Springer. "For the moment, at any rate," he sharply added, tossing a quick glance to Smokescreen. "I will transmit you additional instructions when I have decided what should be done with the criminal Repugnus. For now, focus on your primary objective."

"Don't you worry," First Aid assured Arcee. "Hot Rod will make a full recovery. We still need to run a CT scan and get a psychological assessment. I want to make certain his earlier episode wasn't a result of some neurological damage. The specialist should be on their way."

Arcee nodded silently at First Aid's comment. Psychological damage... "Is the psychiatrist someone I know?"

She turned to Road Rage and Hardhead(?) outside the room, "Guys, do you think Hot Rod is still in danger of a follow-up assassination attempt?"

"Affirmative." Ironfist replied to Jazz, getting up and walking towards the cabin of Wing Saber. "Wing Saber, open a channel once we're in range. Make sure they know of our arrival. Ask for medics. If the power drain is too much, get Highbrow to boost it for you."

Iacon, slums

"It's rust-rot," Glit explained, hurrying to keep up with Sunstorm. "He's old and worn, probably could not afford parts or..." He sniffed, cat-sneezed. "A regular oil-bath.

"I found him collapsed and managed to stop him leaking out, but there is nothing more I can do for him. Is your lab nearby?"

Iacon Medical and Research Institute, waiting room

"My Lady - please!"

Strike wanted to stop Misericorde's pacing. It was a visible sign of her inner torment and most unseemly; and it was actually beginning to annoy him.

The brilliantly-coloured fem spun on her heel, paced viciously past the massive white mech. "I... cannot... get... at... him!" she snarled, spitting each word sharply.

"I believe that it is wrong of them to prevent you administering to him," Strike agreed.

Misericorde stopped in her tracks an instant, looking at the other. Is he a complete idiot? she wondered. Or was that a subtle way of telling me that he knows what I am here to do? She began to pace again, shaking her head.

"There has been no news," Strike murmured apologetically. "He might already be non-functional."

"Probably a whole mess of illegalness," Sideswipe guessed, glad that Drift had changed the subject. "You figure you want to do something about it?"

Deftwing arched his eyebrow at the officer's obviously-illegal implication that they listened to the conversations between suspects and their lawyers, but didn't say anything. Truth be told, it would be a good thing that there would be witnesses to this conversation.

"You know who I am, boy?" he asked Slingshot.

"Don't know and don't care," Slingshot told him without even bothering to meet his gaze.

"I'm Air Commodore Deftwing," the lawyer said, "Autobot Judge Advocate General."

"Isn't that special?"

"If I were you I'd can the attitude, boy," Deftwing told him, "because you're in a whole mess of trouble."

Smokescreen smiled blandly at Springer and added, "Thank you for your cooperation."

He didn't meet Prowl's gaze, but thought bluntly, You'll make decisions about my agents over my dead body. Or yours, if you interfere in SIS business.

Prowl's Office

"Alright then," Springer replied to Prowl as he stood up. "I'll get myself patched up and after that, Crystal City."

As he walked out the room, he gave Smokescreen only a nod. He figured it was enough of a response to him.
