Just a few thoughts on the Movie repaints
Anyone got an idea why Recon Barricade wasn't made a new character.
Surely it's fairly easy to think up a bio and name true theres all the legal bit about securing the name .
Presumambly that it's still a movie character will shift some units but then if i was a young child wouldn't I prefer a toy that looked like the movie version. So wouldn't a new character sell more than a recon version.
I just wondered what the reasoning was on one hand we've got
G2 where the different coloured versions were just the same character with a different coat of paint so with Recon Barricade we have the equivalent of G2 Sideswipe. Although obviously the gap between the 2 versions coming out would have simulated demand
Then we've got the Nissan mould where new coat of paint = new character although to be fair there were more than just a few paint changes.
More recently we've got real gear new paint job = new character.
Presumably Hasbro has some reason for the 2 different approaches I just wondered what it was
why does Real Gear repaint sell better as a new character
while Barricade gets repainted as himself with a new paintjob
the only thing I can think of is to do with face time in the movie.
