Hiding in plain sight (Transformer toy sightings)

Post by Rack 'n Ruin »

I thought a thread of Transformer sightings might be good as a sort of sister to the Newest Acquisitions thread. I somethimes see TFs on the shelf that are either new out, are hard to find or are a little bit weird (recycled toy waves from years ago, for example). I usually don't buy much, but I thought a thread where we can post these sightings will help us all know what is out there and where.

To kick us off...

Toys R Us, Ipswich, UK has:
Human Alliance Shadow Blade Sideswipe @ £29.99
Human Alliance Jazz @ £29.99
(never seen these at UK retail before)
HFTD Deluxe Battles Blades 'Bee & his wave mates @ £9.99
(MechTech free! Woohoo!)
HFTD Voyager The Fallen (the purple one)
HFTD Voyager Highbrow (the rubbish one)
HFTD Voyager Battle Blades Optimus Prime
RTS Voyager Lugnut
RTS Voyager Grapple
RTS Voyager Strafe

Today TRU in Ipswich had the Kre-on sets in (I think all except the large Optimus Prime). Better looking than BTR, but still all too "meh".

Oh, and the one MP Roddy they had has now gone.

My local Wilkinson's has:

- DOTM Laserbeak
- DOTM Thundercracker
- DOTM Nitro Bumblebee

These may be dead common for all I know, but I've not seen anything beyond Wave 1 in my local stores, before they were all replaced by the various pants DOTM US Store Exclusives.

How much is RTS Lugnut going for at your TRU Rack 'n Ruin?

New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.

Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).

I certainly haven't seen those DOTM figures before. I've seen up to wave 2 (I think) plus the exclusives.

Lugnut was £20.99 I think. Can't be sure as it was a few weeks ago I last looked at him. I'm not 100% sure they had any left when I was last in. I def saw Grapple & Strafe though.

Oh, and someone might be interested to hear that the two HA figues I saw in TRU (Jazz & Shadow Blade S/Swipe) are now reduced to £19.99. At £9.99 I might bite. That black and purple Sideswipe is making me think of a Kickback custom...

RTS Lugnut, Strafe and Grapple are both retailing for £12.99 at budget shop 'Home Bargains' in the North West. If I wasn't moving tpo another country in a week I may have been tempted by Lugnut, but they all look a bit cheap in that size, Strafe especially.

Home Bargains has thrown up some interesting stuff over the last few months:

HFTD Deluxe (various figures, mostly Hailstorm & Elita 1) @ £5.99
ROTF Bumblebee Deluxe / Canon Bumblebee @ £5.99
ROTF Legends Devastator £5.99
HFTD Voyagers as mentioned (quick review: Grapple - blocky old school fun, Lugnut - awesome robot mode, questionable alt mode and a weird hybrid of Classics/ Animated/ Movie stylings, Strafe - pisspoor recolour of ROTF Mindwipe that looks like a walking cheesecake)
PCC 2 packs £1.99 (Heavytread, Skyhammer, Icepick and ,uh, some others)
PCC 5 packs Grimstone & Steamhammer 5 packs £6.99 each
RPMs - £1.29 each

Skyquake and Wildrider - if it wasn't too much bother, I'd really like to get hold of a RTS Voyager Lugnut (especially at the reduced price plus P&P). If it's a possibility, PM me! If not, don't worry about it.

:)

(I missed out when I bought the only one in my local Sainsbury's to send on to someone else, foolishly thinking they'd get more in... They didn't and I've not seen him since...)

Three Lugnuts and one Grapple remain! I'll pick up a Lugnut tomorrow, even if you don't fancy one Numbat I don't have a problem keeping him at that price, looks like a nice companion for my beloved Cybertron Jetfire. :)

I'll certainly take a Lugnut from one of you!

Skyquake, if you could let me know if you have success today, that would be great.

If Skyquake doesn't find one, I'll try and get back to Wildrider this evening if I know!

Not used to so much potential help! Thanks guys!

Not sure if this is new to anyone or not, but I have spotted some DOTM LDR Ironhides in my not-so-local Tesco (UK). Makes a change to see a new leader figure in the DOTM line, and he looks more imposing and detailed than I thought.

Necro post a-go-go!

This seemed like the best thread for the news that B&M (a UK discount retailer) have voyager stock from the last year or so randomly scattered around the country. Sightings noted on TFW so far are Springer, Roadbuster, Whirl, Blaster, Rhinox, Sky-Byte, Blitzwing and Sandstorm. All at £12.99. My local one (East Ipswich) has 2x Whirl and 2x Rhinox. It looks like a batch of "grey" imports, as these figures have never been seen at non-specialist UK retail before. Happy hunting!

If somebody chances across a Roadbuster at that price, keep me in mind. I'll request him shipped loose.

Cheers!

I've found some clearance TFs at Five Below, a U.S. chain. Most recently, they've had Construct-Bots and AoE Power Battlers for $5 each, and Legends Terrorcons for $3 each. Unfortunately, they only have the 3 Terrorcons from the later waves, no two-headed dragons, so you can't get a dirt cheap Abominus.
