Huh. Between those, the reissues, and the new Legends size figures, that's a lot of insecticons for one year. Personally I just want Hasbro to follow through and deliver a Kickback. I like the simplicity of the two out so far.

Legends Shrapnel was a bit disappointing but was very impressed with the finish on the Bombshell. Dropping those Micromaster partners seems to have been a good move.

That, and unless they were intending on remaking the entire Micromaster era as targetmasters, they were going to run out of things to do with them very quickly (and looking at Tailgate's claw thing, maybe they already did).

I do like the cute little Reflector, though.

Vague silhouettes from MakeToys...

Depending on scale, possibly interested in Inferno. Only really interested in Hound if it's the psycho G2 version.

Depending on the size and price, almost sold on Chromedome. I believe he's a bit too large, but until we see him next to already released figures, I am withholding judgement.

Fingers crossed he's slightly smaller than the PE Fort Max.

Has this ToyWorld Astrotrain homage been mentioned (one of two different companies that are doing something, I believe...) ?

Very nice -- and definite improvement with paint apps -- but don't really care enough about Astrotrain (although it's this deco I'd go for) to add a random 'Con at that price.

edit: Getting confused with the DX9 / UniqueToys one, which is more expensive;

Not too crazy on either of them...basically I've reached the spot where the "essential" Decepticons on my end are nearly done.

Astrotrain and Blitzwing are far from essential in my book, especially at these prices

Liking the execution though, they both look neat enough.

Like the Classics Blitzwing... and where 'Cons are concerned, I skew towards randomers rather than characters such as Starscream. Astrotrain's more of a contender.

But I'm mostly waiting for pre-orders to come in now and that'll be me done for a while until FP dust off their Headmasters and do Skullcruncher.

How out of place would a repaint of Wardog as Guzzle be, do you reckon?

Maketoys Hound and MP Chromedome revealed [gray test shots].

Chromedome is Headmasters sized [ie 23 CM tall, almost as tall as MP Hot Rod]. Looks retro enough, will probably go for it unless there's something else terribly exciting coming out the same month.

Hound is a bit tame looking for my taste, and there's a very good chance for an MP version down the road, so no placeholders for me.

I like the Throttlebot combiner, and the look of the group as an ensemble. I wonder if Toyworld will re-release the earlier figures or just leave it as a scavenger hunt for people that want to start putting the group together now.

Huh. I always figured that the only distinguishing feature of the Throttlebots was the fact that they're a bunch of dumpy little guys who all transform the same. Making five of them over with new transformations and robot modes does seem to be missing the point a little.

It's a shame because Rollbar -- the only one who actually looks like he's supposed to -- is absolutely gorgeous. Searchlight comes fairly close too, but none of the others even look like Throttlebots.

Bad luck for them, starting with Bombshell at the same time as Hasbro puts out one that's getting a ton of praise. Bet they'd do Kickback first, for the added buzz, if they could do it over again.

That Hound is pretty spot-on. I like it! Got to say, though, Hound looks weird with cartoon-accurate small feet. I hope Takara split the difference between the toy and cartoon when they make theirs.

I'm having a hard time thinking of many Transformers with a more boring design than Chromedome, though. He doesn't have a single distinguishing feature. I'd forgotten how bland the original was, I guess, after the serious revamp he got in MTMTE.

Test shot review for the bigger Astrotrain

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88iCkCQaqAc

Not really a subjective reviewer as he absolutely loves and drools over ANYTHING he gets, but the review is very clear and neat.

Doesn't look half bad, though it appears a tad too fiddly.

Here's an unusual thing I got an email from BBTS about: a third party replacement for Combiner Wars Motormaster.
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail

While it appears to be a prototype/test shot in the pics, it doesn't look awful. Much more G1 in design than the actual one. Think I'd like to see more pics, especially with color

Looks almost like a Klingon version of MM... improves the combined mode a lot.

Maz got his hands on that DX9 version of Astrotrain too... not a fan of either the design or that colour scheme, personally.
