Since they've moved the articles in the previous links (that, or I'm too stupid to find them...):

Can you blame them...
This has to be the worst season of this series. Angel a puppet (badly written episode.), an episode based around Harmony. Even Spike can't save this season from being ****. I'd rather see this show leave than have it get any worse.

wow......aren't we a negative nancy?
What's been wrong with this season thus far? the harmony ep was a pisser, 5x12 (the cordy one) was another fantastic ep... in fact - the majority of them have been really, really good... Spike fits into things well enough & it's good seeing angel have someone to keep him a bit off-balance...

I've really liked the change of pace this season, and thought the "Smile Time" puppet episode was absolutely hilarious. Even though I enjoy a long story arc as much as the next guy, I like the fact that they've had a lot of standalone episodes this season. It makes it a lot easier to watch, knowing you don't have to remember what's happened in the past 7 or 8 eps (see: Seasons 3 & 4). Hell, Gunn is actually useful this season!
My only problem with Spike is that the writers are too much in love with him. He gets all the best lines, all the best scenes, all the best everything. For a while there it felt like they were shifting all the focus to him, and away from Angel and the gang (gee, sound familiar, Buffy fans?) I like Spike, but don't neglect everyone else because of him...

I've got no real problem with the notion of the series ending... everything has to stop eventually, and I'd rather a program go out in its prime than to rumble on indefinitely long after it lost its steam (Only Fools & Horses, Red Dwarf...)
My main gripe comes with my little belief that the writers should be aware it's the last season when they start writing it. I know Joss and David intended to finish the series with a definitive (yet still open) ending in case it didn't get renewed, but there's a difference to "let's end it in X way because there's a chance we won't be back" and "we won't be back."
The announcement coming this late in the season doesn't fill me with confidence for a great ending. I loved season 7 of Buffy, aside from the last few eps, which felt rushed beyond belief... something made galling by the fact that they knew it was the final series when they started it. The last thing I want is for Angel to go out in the same "ack! let's throw in as many underdeveloped plot ideas as possible" way.
