WTF????

Okay, so's I stroll in to work this morning fifteen minutes early, logged on to the computer system, took my jacket off and put my bag in the desk drawer as usual, then I get a light tap on my sholder, 'would you mind coming with me?', I was like, 'uh, sure' and headed off to my floor managers desk, a few brief minutes later and I get told I have been put back downstairs!!! I got demoted, I still don't get it???? I was the best in the group!! My stats were double than the nearest of my colleagues!!!!!

Completely stunned I logged out of the system and made my weary way to the first floor to log on again.

Facts:

Was off sick for 3 days with sick note and phoned everyday and floor manager said 'fine, no problem'

Missed 3 holiday days because they said the days I wanted were taken so when I was away on my actual holiday they sent an email to everyone detailing the hoiday slots available and when i got back i looked and saw all the dates i orginally wanted were still available!!! but, i couldn't have them as they had now gone and i have missed 3 days holiday!!!!

My performance stats have been double the nearest person in my group every day since starting!!! - even guys that have been there for years!!

I feel completely ripped off!!

I am so miffed with my employers I'm speechless!!! I was so surprised I haven't even had the realisation to ask why yet!!!!! And tomorrow is my day off according to the new rota system for us lackies!!! and now I work every other weeknd!!! I never worked any before!!! Argh!!!!!!!

Sorry, I just had to rant!

What's wrong with working downstairs? Are you doing the same kind of work? You have a bad rep or something? I'm quite surprised you didn't ask why you were getting moved downstairs. That'd be the first word out of my mouth.

downstairs is more hours, less pay, more stress and more targets to reach!

The fact that it means he's been demoted?

Sorry to hear it, Mirage. Sure you'll be back on top in no time. :)

They figure they can get more work out of you for less pay, and you won't be showing up a boss's favourite in the process.

Denyers probably got it down, they probably see that you are the hardest working in your section, and so decide it will be best to put you downstairs, where they might think your productivity will still be high despite less pay... theyre making a monkey out of you, i'd ask them for a reason, and if its not good enough surely you can investigate it...

Contact the nearest lawyer specialising in employment disputes and arbitration. Take them to court if they've breached your employment rights or contract.

Ok let me try to help out here. Doing stuff in management I hope I can help.

As someone said you might want to chat to a lawyer first. But I would say do you have a HR director that you can speak to before going that extreme first.

ALso, there are lots of annoying factors to why you could have been demoted.

If you are not protected by the FMLA *Family or Federal Medical Leave Act right now the first word is escaping me sorry*then in theory they can do whatever they want. Of course though being sick for only 3 days sounds a bit retarded. *Oh the act generally states if you are employed for more than a certain number of hours per week, which in VT is 27 hours. Then you are protected if you have to leave your job for an extended period of time due to medical reason.*.

Anyway, make sure to cover your tail and make sure they didn't write you up over anything.

Otherwise good luck. Like I said I would see if your company has a HR director you can talk to first and go from there.

Hope this helps at all.

Well, if it's any consolation, I've been demoted three times in three years. Mainly because they keep geting rid of the job I do...
