Creating Interesting Topics that Lead to Discussion 101
You know, I've been beating my brain in for awhile now to think of a new and interesting topic without a whole lot of luck. Believe me, I've put about five holes in my wall from banging my head into it while trying to do so. For me, it's really difficult to think of an original idea that people would like to talk about. So, I've done the idea of "well I can't think of anything good to talk about, so let's talk about this problem."
We have a good number of posters who seem to be able to come up with rather interesting topics that people tend to enjoy. Some of these posters are Cliffjumper, Denyer, Sir Auros, Brave Maximus, and Galvatron91. So the question is pretty simple -- how do you guys (and/or girls since we're not sure of Brave ) do it?

Thanks, Zeeks! Great job!
Personally, I tend to nick 'em from interesting sources... it's still pretty rare that I start threads, though...

I don't start threads cause I know what I find interesting usually isn't (or if it is, someone has usually already beaten me to the punch.) Just another public service I offer.

I don't start threads because I can't be arsed to. If I find something interesting, I post it.

I personally don't give a **** about what I write being interesting to anyone other than me when I start a thread, to be honest.
Definitely. I'm not here to impress anyone. If I want to discuss something that I care about, why should I pay attention to someone bitching about how unintersting it is? EDIT: The way I see it, people like that merely serve to bump the thread, allowing for maximum exposure . . .

Exactly. You can't get away with just posting something like "I like sporks. Discuss."
However, if you were to explain that you liked them because they were an ingenious amalgamation of forks and spoons, and then go on to explain how you found it very usefull for lunch at school because you only had to carry a single utensil, you'll have a better chance of people replying to the topic, as well as the chance of other people offering their insight into similarly simple engineering marvels. Afterall, there are so many little inventions that just make perfect sense, and no one ever thought of until the inventor of the device came along.
Now, that's a topic for discussion! I'll have to come up with a small list of things like that, and make a thread (of course, if someone else can think of some things off the top of their head right now, be my guest to run with it, as I probably wouldn't get around to posting it for a few weeks, as is customary when I say I'll get back to something . . . ). Who knows, someone might know of some little invention I've never heard of that would make my life all the more easier).
