Anyone here into the tabeltop game? I have some annoying persistent questions to ask, so best not to reply if you don't want them! ;)

I used to play both variants (Fantasy and 40K) so I maybe able to help. Of course, I am not up to date on the present term lingo as I haven't touched the game in an year or so. They might have a new edition comming out.

They've just released 4th edition.

I used to play 2nd and 3rd ed. I don't any more as it's too expensive. I was going to get back into them just for painting and collecting - but I got into Battlefleet Gothic for the same reason instead.

4th? Man, 3rd was fun. I wonder what changed. I know they are/have released the 7th edition of Fantasy. Whether its good or not I don't know. How often are they releasing changes now? And have the price increased as well?

I think 4th was released in 2004 and 3rd was about 1998 or so, so it's not too bad. Prices are steadily rising too. That was why I stopped collecting, and why I've not got back into it. BFG is more reasonable (but probably still slightly on the pricy side).

From what I've heard, there's not that much difference between 3rd and 4th editions.

Played for a while with what I expect was the 3rd edition, but like Sixswitch said, it's really expensive, especially back when I was 15 and didn't have a job. As opposed to now when I'm 18 and...still don't have a job. Plus, I never could settle on one army; I just bought whatever models caught my eye, or looked like they could be used for an amusing conversion. To this day I'm oddly proud of my Space Marine Force Commander, with his robot arm (green stuff + prongs from a Tau scanner), custom sword (Azrael's one + two curved Dark Elf Assassin blades) and his Yankees baseball cap (green stuff + lots of effort through five rough drafts before the finished article).

I've just started.... sorta. I like painting/generally messing with the models and want to learn to play, but haven't gotten around to it yet. My b/f recently gave me a 'nids starter army to play with. I've started putting it together, it's fun.

It's definitely expensive, though... I'm glad I have the 'nids, they're pretty cool. Can't wait to get them finished. And I can apparently pretty much do whatever with my b/f's extra stuff if I want, so that's cool too.

[edit] I want a freakin' Carnifex! That thing is awesome.
This is my signature. My wasted space. My little corner. You can't have it. It's mine. I can write whatever I want. And I have!

Irritating me does not make me work harder.

And nor does it help me find my camera. Why did I have to go all dorky and get the 007 lighter-sized one, anyway?

I do not have my 40K army, as I sold it. Orks it was and I didn't take photo's. I had 3 Fantasy armies and I sold 2 of them. I only have my Lizardmen left as they remind me of dinosaurs.

Some photo's (I have more but they aren't uploaded it yet, I will do so tonight):

Here are some photo's of my Reaper Collection as well. I used to collect them as well in order to represent my family tree. I could still do it, but there is no motovation to do this stuff anymore.

Nice work there Cloud. Lizardmen always struck me as some of the toughest models to paint.

I am a full on Games Workshop whore. I have armies/forces for almost every game they've made since around '88 (the exceptions being Dark Future, Gorkamorka and Warmaster).

I've always preferred 40K to to WHFB, mainly because I'm much more into sci-fi than I am fantasy. I still have all of my books and boxed sets from every edition. As of now, I can field-

Around 3000 points of Blood Angel Space Marines (My first army, all of which are the old style miniatures)

Around 5000 points of Dark Angel Marines (Dark Angels are my favorite, I can't wait for the new Codex next month)

Around 1500 points of Witch Hunters ( I've been collecting them over the past year)

Around 1000 points of Chaos devoted to Slaanesh

When I finish my Witch Hunter force (I'll probably stop at around 2500 points worth) I'll probably start on a Necron army.

As much as I love 40K, in my opinion, the 2nd edition of the Epic system was the best tabletop game GW ever made. If I had my way, GW would scrap the current edition, make a couple of tweaks to the 2nd ed. and bring it back. Epic was too much fun and I really, really miss it.

Dark Angels? BOOOOOOOO!

Guess what my first army was? Clue's in the title...

Got an Eldar Army that isn't fully painted: no idea of what points value. Can tell you what I have in it, but that's about it...

Oh, and a couple of High Elves regiments/characters from standard Warhammer.

Lots of Codex books as well...
