Happy St. Patricks Day!

Post by Savannahtron »

Happy St. Patty's Day! Here in Savannah, GA we have a huge parade and celebration (2nd largest in the US, next to New York). While I'm not Irish, it is a lot of fun to watch the parade, in fact my children get the day off of school :)

Here's to all of my Irish friends! Cheers!

...Wearing my John Deere jacket and hoodie in celebration.........YaY!:swirly:

Today would have also been my grandmother's 109th birthday. It's a great day to remember her.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, indeed! About to go off to the bar for a couple, then to a party at my in-laws for a bit. Later on... I'll be back! (And working on the six-pack of Harp's I got at the store the other day...) Hahahaha!

(Should I post here or in Hound's "potent beer sbit" thread?)

Couple of important points.

1. Patrick is typically shortened to Paddy, not Patty.
2. That drunk by 10.20PM? Really?
3. As it happens I did go for a drink tonight. Did anyone ever have those cider flavoured ice lollies as a kid? Magners tastes a lot like them.

Well, I'm back. Had a kind of pause in the middle of things, and basically, am not silly/off my ass. But, had a good time early, and have ended up enjoying my night, too, really... so,

Happy St. Patricks Day.
Had fun watching tipsy people and such roaming the streets.
Lot more people dressed in green this year where I live. That's good.

Not down here, and there are a bunch of them in the area. I guess it is where you come from...

Really? I've never seen it shortened to "Paddy" before, always "Patty". Insert Americans can't spell anyway joke here, but we're better than Dalek. Sorry couldn't resist. ;)

I didn't do anything for St. Patrick's day except work and go to the gym. This holiday's never meant much to me.

Ugh... they should really put St. Patrick's day on a Friday or Saturday from now on. My hangover at work today was out of control. Next year I gotta drink more water in between my green beers.

Is that point 1, 2 or 3? ;)

Fair enough. I've never heard it shortened to Patty, so yep, I guess it varies by area. However I live closer to Ireland than you, so I'm declaring victory.

Just out of interest, are any of us folks who've celebrated St Patrick's actually Irish (even partially)? I'm not, but it's a decent excuse, aint it?

I've been to Ireland and could find the place on the map. I wish I could remember what issue of Hitman the picture I'm after was in...

I don't really celebrate the holiday, but it brings Savannah a lot of tourism money, so it is a big celebration through the city here.

Yeah, we do spell things differently here. We also use words in a different fashion for certain meanings as well. Hell, half of the folks I have seen posting can't spell at all :)

I guess that is why there is an American English dictionary instead of just a plain English one ;) for U.S. (us) that is anyway.
