Ahhhh, so much to listen to here...

I just found this and it's a-m-a-zing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT7C4ax0xGg - The Animal In Me, "Black Widow" (Iggy Azalea Cover)

Enjoying their original stuff, too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy8NgJnlhKI - Like Vultures, "Thrift Shop" (Macklemore cover)

(sorry, this is less a "favourites" post and more a LOOKWHATIFOUND post...)

Okay, yeah. I think you can pretty much add someone screaming to anything and I'll probably listen to it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JiMO1-W1CM - Crown The Empire, "Payphone" (Maroon 5 cover). The orig has been done to death at work and I was quite pleased with this version.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItosTQ4PVlI - Kawehi, "Closer" (NIN cover). I'd like to say that I think this is an awesome cover, buuuuut it's pretty standard and I think I just really like the way she says "f**k".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPFwZ7q_5tE - The Circus, "We're In This Together Now" (NIN cover). Love it. Yeah, now I'm just looking for NIN covers...

Aaaaand here is what I would consider a bad cover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6pJMOPJlMI - Maroon 5's version of "Closer". Nopls.

Well, I know what I'm playing around the house for the holidays this year...

I see that my favorite band has been covered above (ha! a pun!), but let's cover them some more!

Also, pretty much anything Post Modern Jukebox does is wonderful, but this is a favorite:

And the Whits (starts at about 1:30):

And Boyce Avenue:

And if you've never heard floppy drive music, it's creepy as hell:

If it's the same band but a different line-up, does it still count?

Nope.

Hooray!)
I dunno, I still have a lot of time for Thank You, because - Perfect Day aside - they've actually come at every song on the thing from a totally different angle. It's hard to dislike White Lines when Flash 'n' Mel actually sang on the thing (plus some of the guitar overlays are brutal, some of my fave Duran guitar lines come from Cuccurilo rather than Andy "Mullet and licks" Taylor), Public Enemy as an acoustic-tinged hoedown, lift music Costello... Thank You's only real problem is that a collection of outtakes and B-sides were tacked together and pushed as a bonafide album by a greedy studio.

Bored diner waitress replaced by shouting punk brats - tidy.

Like Live Lounge, but good.

Low on ironic desperate twat factor I'll grant you.

Kelly-approved space disco lunacy.

Yes it is. So's The Tide is High. And One Step Beyond.

Just beats out Glass Candy's Computer Love for best Johnny Jewel cover.

Insert your own "Now that's ironic!" joke.

That version of Tainted Love is one of my favourite songs of all time and will always bring me out on the dance floor when it comes on. Not to dance, to singalong loudly and badly whilst waving my arms about.

In that case:

Original by Ultravox.

Original by Perry Como.

I've honestly no idea what the popular opinion on something like Eurodance is today, but back in the 90's, I listened to that sort of music all the time and I had no idea then that these were even covers.

Perry Como is now forever tainted name for me anyway, thanks to Animaniacs.

Let's go ahead and slow things down a little bit.
And add more vowels.
And a lot more bulk

I watched the video for Alanis's version of My Humps and had flashbacks of creepers on the dancefloor in '05-ish. Never again.

I don't have a cover, I just came here to say that those are the best shiny jumpsuits ever and Clay has found some of the weirdest shit I've ever seen/heard. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though the jury's still out on that sad clown...

Notabot, apparently you made whoever owned that video shut down their Youtube account.

I'm returning to my shouty covers now, goodbye.

Edit: Here's one. Work's ruined this one for Hound but I can still take it. And this has the shouty I'm looking for tonight.

Edit2: Yes. YES.

The guy at 3 mins in the vid for "Toxic"? THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS DOING. (not the accordion)

The studio version is on their greatest hits album, Sades. Worth a purchase.

You don't tell me what to do. :p

What is this, country? AH GAWD, IT'S SO PRETTY.

QOTD ST was originally edited in here, but decided to move to the Youtube thread as only a few songs were covers (and admittedly shitty, too).

Clay, I think that sad clown's version of Royals is growing on me. Dammit. :p

This thread is exactly what I need right now. And Clay, this video is your fault. :p

I don't even know this damn song. Somebody make this clown stop playing with his big, fuzzy buttons.

I'm buying this man's t-shirt. I think it's something I need in my life.

edit: Did the Youtube vids get bigger?

Yeah, and since Youtube decides what it serves in the iframes (generally their HTML5 player) it should be fairly tablet friendly.

The best part of the Sad Clown videos has to be the mini-blinds in the background. It convinces you that all these people live together in a very stark white apartment, and this is just a glimpse into their everyday life.

One of my all-time favorite covers from another album full of good covers. From the same album, KMFDM's Mysterious Ways is beautiful despite the fact that they didn't even change it up that much.

Well, that's certainly against type. The organ gets it most of the way to a dirge, but the vocals carry it over to a full-on depression-fest.

Now, Bluegrass Zeppelin! If there's ever a movie of my life, this'll play in the closing credits.

[Radioactive/Poker Face covers]

 That Poker Face cover is awesome.

I'll probably be back with a cover to edit in here at some point.

Ah hah! More Pentatonix! My daughter loves this one.
