TFA RPG Chat

Post by Brave Maximus »

Alright, so I mentioned this in the Chat itself, but I figured, since there's about 4 regulars in there, all of whom post a single "Bah Weep Grah Nah Weep Ninny Bog" and then bugger off - I thought that this would be the best place to say something.

What I am proposing are schedualed times to come to the TFA RPG Chat room and talk about the RPG. I've found in recent history, that live chat can bring about some good ideas (and cause many problems, but we won't get into that ;) ) - and sometimes it can just help players out.

What I proposed is 3 10PM chat times. This would cover the majority of our players and that no group feels left out. Times would be:

10PM EST (for our Canadian, American and anyone else.....)
10PM GMT (For our Brittish and Euro friends)
10PM EDT (For our Asian and Australian compatriots.)

You have to understand, I'm from Toronto, and my knowledge of Time Zones is actually pretty lacking (as I've never been off the continent - though to every time zone we have including Newfoundland time......) - so if one of these is off or another is a better time, suggest it :D

The only "Problem" I can see is that all four of the Mods\Admins are in North Am (IIRC) with 2 on the East Coast of the US, one in Winterpeg and one in the same time zone as him. So that means "unsupervised" chat with the Euros and the Aussies - which can always be dangerous ;) But, as I don't sleep - I'll cause problems where I can :D

Don't worry, the pole doesn't mean anything - it's just been a long time since I made a pole ;)

Sounds good to me . The chat room is an underexploited resource and it would be good to get us all together to thrash out ideas etc at a speed faster than PM.

I agree. It is a tool that is definitely not living up to it's potential. As I've said before, 10:00 Eastern works best for for me.

Sounds like a good plan to me. The problem is that we've tried scheduling chats several times before. No one bothered to show up, IIRC. :eyebrow:

Well, I figured we can give it a shot for a little while and see what happens.

Perhaps a "Starting date" of This coming Friday the 19th? (19\08\2005) - just as a suggestion....

does that sound about right?
I don't fancy trying to organise that chat!

Well, the times aren't too unreasonable for 2 out of each of the groups at any time (As I know a lot of people on the Archive are up at 3am ;) )

But what I had originally ment was that at (around) 10PM your local time, you could come on the Archive and chat about the RPG - be able to read what the people who were on earlier etc.

Once a day would be a little insane to try - but I think something like "Sunday night Chats" may be of benifit.

Again - it's just a suggestion - and if there's a better way - I'm more than open to it. As long as people don't expect me to be up any earlier than noon :nonono:

You mean other than me?

What the heck is BST? (*Goes and looks it up on the net* OOOOh British Summer Time....)

The thing is - I'm on EST. And the Aussies are.... well, the Aussies. I figured 10PM for the majority of peoples Local Times - make it easy for everyone.....

Unless you were joking, then I'll feel like an idiot....

I just voted for the second option. Not because it's a bad idea but just based on the principal that Brave Max is indeed on crack.

Doesn't make any odds wether you use BST or GMT as most time zones shift the same way within a couple weeks of each other anyways

I voted for the fourth option... But why are the fourth and second options mutually exclusive? (or indeed the first and third... Or the second and third? Oh... My head hurts).

-Ss

My voting in this poll does not constitute my opinion on the matter of the chat. I just think Brave Max should know his place. And shut his roll. Or something like that. ;)

How many Aussies from the WA are in the RPG? Theirs a two hour difference between us and the East Coast, were alot of the Aussies players are situated. From my understanding we go by AEST which is GMT + 10, all I have to do is wake up 2 hours earily and were set.

Well as I have yet to see any great objections from anyone (other than my use of Aussie time zones - but then, only one of them has said anything):

How does 10 PM EST, GMT and EDT (respectivly) on August 19th sound?

So I guess the Aussies would go first at 10PM EDT, then the Brits\Euros at 10PM GMT, and finally North Am at 10PM EST

(That actually works out, as all the mods are in or near EST, so they can see what was said :D)

I'll be around on the 19th, to get things started for the GMT and EST guys - again, if no one has any objections?

See, I had altered what I was originally going to say - because I knew that joke was coming.

But, there's one smart-@$$ in every crowd....
