I guess I'll respond too since I'm prolly the person who's been here the longest, albeit with a few absenses.

Cliffy-Can't remember, all I remember about his entrance was him defending being bisexual or being gay or something like that.

I agree with G91 (as usual) with Carly being memorable. The original Blitzwing and the current Blitzwing stuff was kinda interesting.

Clay's not a mod anymore cuz he's a dick, duh Image

I have no idea what my first post was about, but back in the pre-ubb days, it was most likely actually about transformers.

No comment on the Cyclonus, Rumble stuff

I remember back when we first started putting up sig pics, and everyone was getting Sky to do theirs. Man, thinking about this has gotten me all wierd and I can't remember too much about the olden days.

What "stuff" are you reffering to?

Anyway, my first post was pre-UBB in "The strongest gestalt" thread in which I declared Predaking to be the strongest and deadliest.

I remember when Claypool was a newbie. It was at a time when the admins were really strict about people having pics in their sigs that could only be a certain size and Claypool's was about 4x what was allowed and everyone got really PO'd at him for it. I remember talking to Skywarp on ICQ once when they were looking for a new Mod, and I recommended Claypool as a joke and he said he would step into on comming traffic before he named Claypool as a mod, but about 3 weeks later he did just that.

Never forget the days of TAB and TUG. That kind of battle is what legends are made of.

There were a lot of posters that came and went like Prowl, Inferno, Big T, Bluestreak, Tracks, IANT, Cool_MZ, Cloudburst, Ortizimus Prime, etc... I don't think many of them are around in the TF world anymore, accept maybe Prowl.

Ah... the good ole' days. They were great.

I don't know, wasn't there a Blitzwing before you who handed the name over to you?

Big T-Damn, forgot all about that kid, he was THE poster pre-UBB, I never really got to know him since I rarely posted, but he was a damn cool kid.

Quite a few of the older, crustier posters have been talking about how the board was so much better back in the day blah blah blah. Well, seeing as I wasn't fortunate enough to be around back then, there are certain things I want to know, like:

Did Cliffy do a 'Hi - I'm a newbie' type post?Nope I rememebr an arguement with graviton though Image

Have there been any really memorable posters that I missed being around? I was thinking how people who have only been here a month or 2 won't have had the Unicron G3 experience. Were there any other members like him? Well, not necessarily like Unicron G3, but just memorable in some way?

Well carley and their incarnations (Neomegatron, craleysghost?) were prehaps the most memorable-for the wrong reasons) I remember how he 'changed' Claypools sig to something porno-graphic.I can never look at Devestator in the same light ever again. Image
I rememebr the earlist post I saw on my first full day of being Jetfire was Claypools 'Why is evestator the s@it?'
It was followed every two weeks or so by basically the same topic from claypool.
My fav early topic was Galvatron91 recinartion from the game91 (lost his email or something) it was bloody funny.
Big t was a popular member at the time and Skywarps partner in crime at the mausloeum initally.I rember the confusion between Blitzwing and Blitzwing2 and prowl and prowl (somethign along those lines) except Prowl posted by far and away the most at that time.
Cor I even remember Skywarps firt offer to make everybody picture sigs. And believe me everybody wanted one Image

And I believe back then G1 was by far and away the most used forum.

What was it like when Claypool was a mod and why isn't he a mod anymore dammit?
Ironcally at first he was a good mod.kept all the rules etc bar a few swear words..Then he stopped for about 3 months hence why he was stopped.

Do you remember what your first post was about?

Were the original topics about who became Cyclonus, was Rumble the blue one or the red one, the Constructicons origin etc. actually interesting at the time?

Not really. At first they were just like any topic.THEN they were posted every week by someone and caused flames.

You know, just stuff like that. I want to know the best of the best and the worst of the worst.

I remember when I joined, a couple of weeks later Claypool was banned temporarily for Devastator-loving or something. He was warned not to post any more stuff about Devastator unless he had an interesting comment, and so he came up with a topic called something like 'So, why do you think the Constructicons were green?'. And then there was his party thread, and his hate list. I wish he still posted more. Anyway...

Claypool was allways a really fresh poster.Allways himself for better or worse.

Isn't it sunny how at some point we always like to look back and say that things were so much better in the "good old days"...everyone here is saying how much they miss Claypool - but don;t you guys ever remember the amount of arguements he caused and all that Devastator worship became tiresome...

I think it's very easy to look back with rose-tinted glasses and recall the good times...but if you spend your life looking backwards you'll walk into a wall!

To clarify a few things in relation to me:-

- My first post was either a question about which US G2 stories were reprinted for the UK book, or about some of the casualties listed in the Underbase Saga list at Rob Jung's site which weren't shown in the comic. Aside from Prowl, it would seem Mr. Jung just made them up. Ass. I'm fairly certain it was the latter, and Denyer was the first to reply Image

- I didn't actually post in GD until I was a Dinobot, as it took me alittle to get to 'know' people well enough to get the jokes etc. - Y'see, you don't actually need to hammer home that you're new at a board. If you just start posting interesting stuff, you don't bloody well need to.

- I think that wonderful flame-war with Cosmotron [which was actually terrific fun!] was when I'd been here a couple of months - I'd certainly been here long enough for people not to simply tell the newbie to shut the **** up. Graviton was a bit of a troll at the time who'd been bitching at Cosmo in some other topic and winding lots of people up, who kinda waded into the me/Cosmo thing and ended up getting toasted by the pair of us... Then RodimusPrime turned up and flame wars would never ever be fun again, as what seems like the whole board was infected by his obsession with the hierarchy of posters...

-I think the bisexuality thing came a bit later when Starscreamus "I am a tw@" Prime started throwing things like "gay" and "homo" round as an insult, and for obvious reasons I took flaming exception.

I'm 99% sure I never posted a topic about where people got their names from...

After reading this topic over, I just realized I honestly can't remember what my early days here were like.. or what was happening here at the time, which means that you could tell me anything and I'd probably believe it.

hehehe

My early days were terrible! My first topic was something in the line of 'Can anyone change my username so it has a capital?'?

In order to do so, a mod (I think it was Skywarp) deleted the account, so I could register with a capital S. But by the time I actually tried to register again, the username was taken by the guy you now all know as......

SHRAPNEL! I want that username! NOW!!!!

Edit:
A few facts:
-I did not understand a word of what Cosmotron was saying in the beginning.
-I did not visit often, because I was busy at TFeXtreme. Before I heard of the archive, I thought TFeXtreme was the only board on the internet about Transformers
-My brother had an account here once too, but he left.
-I actually thought some people were insane.

Well I look at it as this place is lucky to have newcomers.

It means that people are coming here and deciding to post for whatever reason, keeping this thing alive.

In a year from now, how many of you can say you will still be posting here.

If you can, you will no longer be a "newbie"
and the new people posting here will be asking us about the board etc.

I might be a newbie to this posting forum, but I am certainly not a newbie to the Transformers universe.

We all have the most important thing in common: We love these toys, and want to share that with other people just like us!

Thanks

hmm time to get the old brain working again, this could take a bit of effort

My first post was something about the guns at Autobot city and then I think I started a toic saying what was soundwaves alt mode on cybertron (it was decided he is a lampost)

I think I also got on skys nerves by posting a sig quetsion in g1 (I didn't go to general for about a week asI wanted to get to know the posters around). I also remember an amusing argument with Claypool about who was stronger devs or Computron Image Image

As for cliffy, well my first recolection with him was of an argument with cosmotron, then Gravitron came along and I remember him commenting on my weakest link sig (cause gravitron was a tw**) and then my next recolectionis of flameing between him and rodimusprime, then I think it was his arguments with blaster?? <--enter random numbers.

Claypool being a mod, what can I say. I only got to see the end bit but he seemed to do no work Image Image

I think that is about it, time to shut down me brain again

Did Cliffy do a 'Hi - I'm a newbie' type post?

He's dealt with that.

Have there been any really memorable posters that I missed being around? I was thinking how people who have only been here a month or 2 won't have had the Unicron G3 experience. Were there any other members like him? Well, not necessarily like Unicron G3, but just memorable in some way?

Carly, Earthen, MEGATRON, in fact anyone involved in TipsyAnteaterBot I remember well...why? 'Cause I put it together...

What was it like when Claypool was a mod and why isn't he a mod anymore dammit?

It was...indifferent. Clay didn't do a thing except scare off and abuse newbies...

Do you remember what your first post was about?

Yeah-it said 'Hi, I'm from Transfans'. Actually, I wanted to be called Kickback when I joied Transfans but someone took that. I then decided to call myself Shrapnel everywhere...

Were the original topics about who became Cyclonus, was Rumble the blue one or the red one, the Constructicons origin etc. actually interesting at the time?

Yeah, the first time round I didn't know all that stuff...

looking back now, those days were fun.
cliff, i just remember in one topic , u posting a reply about names of archive members.
and sghost made a reply of him using starscream's name in a unique way. then he said cosmotron uses rodimus prime a lot, even though its not his membere name, somethi g like that. maybe sghost can rem

anyways my first post was actually a flame war.
me and a bunch of transfans, flooded the board and caused a flame war Image heehehe
claypool was mod then.
course, then some of us apoligized cause things went out of hand.
and i decided to stay and became one of the first few guys to consistently post in both boards.
course my habit for causing contraversy or flame battles did not end. lets see starscreamsghost, cliffjumper, pun 3x . list goes on
funny thing is, me sghost, cliff had the worst flame wars.
now looking back at it, we all laugh, and i now respect those 2 the most on this board.

I never did a newbie thread, but my first topic was a question in toys asking how you can tell G! OP's accessories from G2 OP's, shortly followed by a trivia question.

I'm not one to say that the "good old days" are any better than these days, but I do miss duking it out with Cosmo and Cliffy back when I first arrived. I had only been around a month or two when Cliffy and Cosmo arrived and the three of us ventured into the greatest series of debates in the history of the board. Ultimately, as Cosmo said, we became friends, and the three of us have a great mutual respect. The fact that Hot Rodimus has graced my sig for the last month or so is a testament to that. And now that Cosmo got his own sig, I can actually take him seriously. Image

But let's not forget: These days are great. I know that when I get out into the real world, I won't be able to be around the Archive much, and I'll look back on EVERY ONE of these days as the good old days. So enjoy it while it lasts, even if it ain't perfect, because NOTHING's perfect, and nothing lasts forever.
