The G1 Ratchet/Ironhide mold. Even when I was a little kid I thought it was a dumb figure. It didn't help that they looked nothing like the cartoon counterparts.

Yeh, they should have been dull, featureless generic robots really, shouldn't they? **** a bit of variety, they have to look like what They Did On The Telly, just like every other character in the line. I've got no problem with anyone disliking the Onebox mould, but why exactly does everything think the Marvel sheets for those two were any good again?

The correct answer is Longtooth.

Longtooth inner robot actualy had a halfway decent alt mode for a pretender one of the better ones outside the classics

In that it wasn't a transformer doing Yoga

being a "futuristic" submarine, race car, space craft, mining vehicle
fill in blank

Although it is a little spoiled by the fact you need his acessory to transform him properly

Most of the ones which dont have 2 proper arms/hands

e.g Longrack , mudflap

Armada Thrust
Engine hands, lousy face sculpt with conehead hat, missles on his knees that can't stay on while in bot mode, looks like Maggie Simpson in her star snowsuit, and has a minicon who has to do a pushup in order to fire his weapon. Oh, and we can't forget his "super duper secret power" of having his wings spin around in front of him. They really should have added a "whizzzzzzzz" noise maker to make it ultimately complete.
It's sad because the alt mode had such potential.
(Everything above IMO, of course.)

Jazz: Aww man, even when Optimus regain leadership i STILL dont get a good part.dam scriptwriters.Luckily im on Dinobot Island with u guys.
Grimlock: Me Grimlock dont care about stupid scriptwriters.Me think Jazz smart to stay in paradise with Dinobots. Now we no need fight. *drinks energon from coconut husk*
Me Grimlock now sleep, grimlock want tanning to impress ladies.

For some reason I just didn’t like the Jumpstarters, topspin and twintwist…they just fold in half!! Not much ‘transforming’ needed there!!
If you can keep your head when all around are loosing theirs...you probably haven’t grasped the situation!!

Blame Sunbow for making leomade out of those two Diaclone lemons then.

For me it's X-Brawn and his stupid nuckle dragging right arm. When ever I see either the toy or Animation model all I can think is WTF was Takara thinking! :wall:

You know, I personally find something rather charming about the boxiness of the Ironhide/Ratchet molds - though, I must confess, it helps having an affinity towards a certain character :glance:. Ahem...Yeah, charming - sort of in a Staks charming sort of way; goofy but fun. They're old molds, and I will judge them according to the standards of toy manufacturing technology of that time - which, doesn't really hold much favor for them either...but I still like them for all their goofy, retro, charm!

Anyhoooo, returning to the original question - honestly, I am going to have to go with most of the Pretenders, as well. Initially, they were rather half-assed designs when the first wave of Pretenders was released, but they got progressively worse (and ugly) by 1989.

Wasn't really a fan of the Decepticon Triple changer Headmasters. Too many gimmicks made the figures look ugly.

Neat concept though.
