And I bought the blu-ray first hand since it was also cheapSkyquake87 wrote:I bought the 15th anniversary release of Ghostbusters for cheapness second hand. Top film, that
Actually, I just bought it because I kept having this dream where I bought Ghostbusters toys on ebay for some reason which prompted me to buy them for real, so I started with the Trendmasters Ecto-1...

Jurassic Park trilogy on Blu Ray. The first one is so wonderfully 90's, in the first half an hour we get mentions of chaos theory, virtual reality (which as a special bonus has nothing to do with the film and doesn't make any sense in the context of getting DNA out of amber but does involve a shot of an extra in a silly helmet pretending he's on a Wii Fit) and then the film rounds off with lots of talk about the girl being a "Hacker" (the film seems to think "Hacking" and "Sitting at a computer and using the OS" are the same thing).
Still stands up very well though, a nice slow build up of tension and some great action scenes. The CGI dinosaurs have aged more than the anamatronic ones have, but they still have lots of personality. And there's something fantastically ballsy about doing the first dinosaur on screen in broad daylight even if it does mean it looks weaker than anything else in the film.

I bought X-Men First Class and The Hangover.
I'd seen the Hangover before, but not X-Men. It was good fun. I quite enjoyed the Bond villain style of the thing, mixed with superpowers. I'm not a huge comics fan - I know some of the stories in broad strokes, but not in detail. I didn't know Mystique's real name for instance. Sounds like someone from a bad Harry Potter fanfic
I did like the chemistry between the Professor and Magneto - it was well played out I thought. The rest of the mutants (X-Men) were less interesting, and in some ways quite annoying. Still, an enjoyable film. Not in the same league as the 'Avengers series' films though, I didn't think.

I found God. Then I lost him. He'll probably turn up down the back of the sofa someday.

The normal box, I wasn't going to pay more when only one and a half of the films are any good.

Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger both on "limited 3D edition" Blu-Ray. Thankfully they both have 2D blu-ray and DVD or otherwise I wouldn't have bought them.
Both were fun movies, I think Thor was slightly better in terms of character development, but Captian America: The First Avenger was better paced. Still both are very good movies. I'm not sure if they were worth $30 each though.

While I liked the movie, I didn't like it as much as some other DC animated movies out like Batman/Superman: Public Enemies or Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths. Also, I'm not sure I like the stereotyped voice of Manchester Black, although the voice actor is Robin Atkin Downes, who is from the UK, so maybe he used his own accent just a bit more thickly.Quote:

Ooh. Is superman Vs Elite Any good???
Not too keen on the artstyle but if the story is good, why not.
Also, I bought John Carter, both seasons of Archer, Naruto Shippuden collection 10 and Ip Man 1 and 2.
Destruction is my specialty

I kind of regret not getting two of the BTTF tin when it came out. Bought one when it came out and now I see people selling sealed copies of the tin on ebay for like four times the original MSRP.inflatable dalek wrote:The normal box, I wasn't going to pay more when only one and a half of the films are any good.
I was gonna do that with the Jurassic Park tin, but there's clearly not as much demand for it.
