There, I've fixed your error and even showed some administrative restraint by not fixing all the punctuation and capitalization.

Considering people put it in coke (which is a foul soft drink), go for it.

You probably won't want to add much sugar to taste.

D'you mean Coke is a foul drink, or that soft-drinks are foul?

I can't get started unless I have a rum and coke.*

*coke referring to any sort of cola.

I can eat pure sugar and glucose without it being overpowering, but still find Coke more cloyingly sweet. I think it's the addition of citrus and acid.

Coke tar!

Doesn't seem odd - well, to me anyways. Some of the bars where I live serve various types of Irish Coffee cocktails. Warm or iced. I don't normally drink them though.

I don't really think much of coffee so I'd never dilute J.D. with he substance.

the only thing that JD should EVER be associated with is hangovers and puking.

No mixers, take it like a MAN!

I say go for it. Coffee with whiskey is pretty good. Though, I'm more likely to use the cheap stuff for mixing, like Thompson's. You can get a larger bottle of Thompson's for about half the price, so it's better for mixing. I usually just take Jack straight from the bottle.

I wouldn't put Jack Daniels in anything. Its a sub-quality bourbon. Even if I drank bourbon, which I don't (single-malt scotch man), it would never be Jack.

Maybe its the acidic bite that coke has that you don't like.

Stuff like Irn Bru has sugar/fizz/fruity flavours. Coke and Pepsi seem formulated to taste as retchingly sweet as possible.

Could be the vanilla/vanillin.

flat coke is the best thing for the flu though, along with chicken soup.
Shock horror, from wikipedia
Originally intended as a patent medicine when it was invented in the late 19th century [...] claimed Coca-Cola cured a myriad of diseases, including morphine addiction, dyspepsia, neurasthenia, headache, and impotence.
not that i'd need the stuff myself.

I'd like to try the original. Patent medicines and generally poor diet could probably account for some strange things in recorded history.

yea, me too.
from the same article
Coca-Cola did once contain an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass but after 1903 Coca-Cola started using, instead of fresh leaves, "spent" leaves - the leftovers of the cocaine-extraction process with cocaine trace levels left over at a molecular level
I have done a few tests, and it would seem that cold coffee is a good mixer for JD, I assume this avoids wasteful evaporation of alcohol. I'm still not set on wether you can really taste the difference with a cheap brand in...

*gulp*

*shiver*

... in coffee, so I'm drinking it neat as well.

JD is not bourbon

Post by shawnkielty » Sun Oct 23, 2016 12:18 pm

If you listen to the folks at Jack Daniels ... you'll note that JD is Tennessee whiskey. Although it has basically the same formula as bourbon ... 80% corn or whatever ... It is made in Tennessee, and it is charcoal filtered.
