Transformers: Generations Checklist

The spiritual successor to the previous Classics and Universe lines, Generations focused on updating older G1 characters as modern toys, as well as tie-in toys to the War for Cybertron game. Generations was first released concurrently alongside the 2010 Transformers line, and some toys made in the Generations aesthetic (such as Special Ops Jazz, Turbo Tracks and Wreck-Gar) were released in the Transformers line. In 2010 Generations is a deluxe class exclusive toyline.

Generations’ first phase ended with the advent of the Dark of the Moon toyline, but two years later was revived in 2012, focusing on tie-in toys with Fall of Cybertron toys. Each cassette is roughly the size of an older Legends class toy. Generations reintroduced the Legends class assortment as a two-pack of cassettes designed to interact with the larger Voyager class Soundwave/Blaster toy. Some Asian markets released exclusive Generations toys of older toys repainted to homage G1 characters, known as ‘GDO’ among retailers and fans.

In 2013 Generations spread out to include updated older characters once more/ The 2013 line was branded ‘Thrilling 30’ and was a general celebration of the Transformers brand’s 30th anniversary. The Legends Class, while remaining the same price, is revamped to contain a larger toy (roughly the size of older Commander/Scout/Basic class toy and a smaller Minicon partner that transforms into a gun). With Thrilling 30, the deluxe class toy included pack-in comics from IDW. Thrilling 30 also introduced the then-largest Transformer toy, a new Metroplex toy, and centered their marketing around him. In late 2014, Generations introduced the first of leader class toys for the Classics/Universe/Generations line, Jetfire.

In 2015, Generations had the subline ‘Combiner Wars’, and focused on bringing modern combiners. The Legends Class toy dropped the smaller partners altogether. All the voyager class Combiner Wars moulds are compatible with any deluxe class combiner figure, and each deluxe class limb can form either an arm or a leg.

This list will be broken up by the different phases of Generations, though from 2012 onwards the line is continuous. For the Japanese counterparts, scroll down.
