TF Guilty Pleasures
What TF toys do you like even though you know their not really any good? For me it has to be: - Overide - I love him despite his lack of feet and legs, and his hollow arms. I really enjoy the Triggerbot gimmick, but all of the other ones are too awful, and I can put up with Overide's failings becaus...

That was definitely a big part of the plan, but it was also a big part of the reasoning behind the Blitz, the Allied firebombing of Dresden and the nukes used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The history books are filled with hundreds of examples of civilians being killed en masse to further military obj...

I don't know. While the Pentagon and White House would qualify as military targets, with the WTC it seemed to be as much about symbolic value as anything else - they can't really have been stupid enough to expect America's economy to fall apart completely as a result of hitting the towers. From a ta...

I'm told there's a legal definition out there to do with declarations of war, recognised states and the like (e.g. Basque seperatists don't represent a recognised nation, and therefore cannot legally declare war on, say, the rest of Spain, therefore - politics aside - are defined as terrorists), but...

...and of course G1 accessories can be expensive. I do think Hasbro have got a bit carried away with the idea of weapons which can be stored in vehicle modes in some recent lines. When it works it can be absolutely brilliant (a lot of the Movie figures seem to get this right, maybe because of the wo...

Not Shockwave? IMO that's the best one! I enjoyed it on first reading, don't get me wrong, but I was more frustrated when the Dinobots and Shockwave were used very poorly later on - it's a prelude to a great story we never got (as is Nightbeat, which also read very well at the time). Whereas Blaste...

At what point is a subject not serious enough to be OK to joke about then? I assume that my as repeating of the Osama in a robot suit silliness in the last post passed without comment it's at least OK to be throwaway about the main subject of this thread, but not the IRA? Because I'd have thought w...

Yes, the main reason I didn't recommend the others is that they're ultimately a dead end, and somewhat frustrating regardless of their quality. Escalation was at the time the best TF comic I've read since the good old days, but it's just a middle bit of a bigger story which was never properly finish...

Well yes, that was me being flippant rather than completely accurate. Do you really think that this is a subject that deserves flippancy? Or do you need flippancy along the lines of saying a group on a terrorist mission are 'holidaying' to get things across? Or did you have your facts wrong and are...

There's a big difference between what happened with Bin Ladden (shot as a result of a massive fire fight between two heavily armed groups), and Gibraltar (three unarmed people are shot whilst on holiday when they could just as easily been arrested considering it's British territory. Them being bast...

There's some appeal to that, but that makes us no better than the evil that we're trying to fight. Guerrilla warfare and terrorism is so insidious because it tends to spiral out of control. It's hard to rise above it, and some would say there's no point in standing against it, but if we really want...
