Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

I also owned G1 Reflector, and was looking forward to the toy-based deco. I like the looks of the individual bots, and even find the spaceships OK. But the camera mode is awful, especially the asymmetrical color scheme. The original toy was 3 distinct looking robots coming together to form a cohesiv...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

In order of excitement: Apeface looks great, especially the expression/smile in gorilla mode. It looks like Titanmaster legs on the top of the gorilla head, too. The jet is even blockier than most TFs, but I guess in this case it's G1 accurate. I like Spinister's color scheme. It looks like he has a...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

CHUG Powerglide - from a comic shop. He's got his gun, but is missing the missle and instructions. He wasn't too hard to figure out, though I didn't think to extend the legs until I looked him up on tfwiki. This is the grey Ultra sized figure, with Ultra apparently meaning Leader sized head and upp...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I just (mostly) transformed MP-05 Megs for the first time. The only things that gave me real trouble was the left shoulder panel, which kept popping off. I put it aside until I transformed the rest of him, then popped it back on. It didn't quite line up, so I'm using the safety lever to disguise the...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Cyberverse Warrior Optimus Prime w/Trailer - Some Walmarts have clearanced these down to $5, which was low enough to get me to bite. I'm pleasantly surprised. It's probably not worth full price, but I'm definitely happy with it. Optimus is OK. I definitely own worse, like the CHUG Deluxe. Due to hi...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

SS #20 - gold VW Bumblebee & (not gold) cassettes - Gamestop marked this down to $50, which is far closer to normal store-exclusive-price-gouging than the $70 they originally asked. I guess they're making room for Ectotron.

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

SS Dropkick is going to be (heavily) retooled into SS 45 helicopter Drift. I wonder if Drift'll be bigger. SS is supposedly aiming for consistent robot mode scale, which would make SS 45 Drift the same height as SS 36 Mercedes Drift, who is TLK Drift with a new head. That's about the size of SS Stin...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Siege Laserbeak & Ravage - Laserbeak's bird mode is great. But, it doesn't actually transform into a cassette. From the front, he's a flat rectangle, which look good. In the back, there's several gaps. Ravage has a better cassette mode, but a weak animal mode. His forelegs' upper arms are poofy, li...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

I'm currently reading two books. The LEGO Book (New Edition) - A photo history of the LEGO company. There's text, too, but largely captions or descriptions of the accompanying photos. The first few dozen pages are about the pre-brick days, when the company focused on wooden toys, like those ducks wi...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

My wife's brother and his family gave me a Toys'R'Us gift card as a belated birthday gift. When I first read this, I thought your brother-in-law was being a horrible a-hole. Then, your location field reminded me you're in Canada. I got Gwenpool on clearance at Walgreen's. I know nothing about the c...

Re: GOT anyone? [SPOILERS]

Nope! I am one of the seven people in the world who doesn't watch this show. I'm another. I tried watching the pilot a few years ago when HBO had a free trial weekend. It went exposition, exposition, exposition, Dinklage under a pile of hookers. I couldn't even tell the guys doing the exposition ap...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I opened SS 34 Megatron . He's OK. I feel like I should be more impressed with him, as I can't find any particular faults. But, I just find him OK. Like the SS Voyager, the bot torso is hollow. The cloak covers it up well, though. The chain mesh only seems to fit one way. One leg of the mesh has two...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I opened a couple and bought 1 more. Cyberverse Prowl - About what I expected, which is good. Ball jointed shoulders and hips, swivel head, and hinged elbows and knees (kinda). The knees are hinged for transformation, and lock into place when straight. If you try to bend them just a few degrees, the...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Another exciting addition to the catalog are the first screen-accurate Transformers from the original Generation One cartoons—because they don't transform.
Transformers often transform on screen. If the toys don't transform, that's not screen-accurate.

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I opened SS WWII Bumblebee . As exepcted, he's a total shellformer. I've seen pics of a TLK Voyager Optimus that someone had partially disassembled in order to make the bot and truck modes simultaneously. You could probably do the same with this guy. The only issue is you'd have some gaps in the shi...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I guess he wasn't that easy to figure out. I'd realized the thumb claws don't fold in, though I did try that on my first attempt. I just had the passenger compartment resting on the connected thumbs. I was talking about the finger claws that end up on the inside of the treads. There was just enough ...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Rampage is out now: I saw him (well, six of him) in the store yesterday along with the G1-ish Prime from Bumblebee. Judging from the size of DoomPogo, Devastator will be... rather large. Not as tall as any of the stand-alone Titans, I don't think, but probably heavier. I saw him, too. speaking of w...

Re: [The video game thread]

A few years ago, I took a crate, small TV, and Atari 2600 and made one of those tables with a video game built in, like you'd see at pizza parlors in the '80s. Unfortunately, I didn't secure the joystick well, and it fell off when I moved the table to redo my floor. I could reattach it, but I doubt ...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

SS Scrapmetal - I'd be satisfied with this guy even if he didn't turn into part of Devastator. He's the largest SS deluxe I've seen so far, a hair taler than Ratchet or Lockdown, and quite a bit bulkier. He's more of an update to G1 Scavenger than SS Scavenger will be, with the treads forming the l...

Re: Who's buying all these Funko Pops?

I've never paid attention to RRP, either, since I dislike them, and was just guessing. I checked Amazon, and they seem to retail for US$11 normally, with special editions going for more. So, probably more comparable to TF Legends than Deluxes. Still, I'd say that Legends TF has got to cost more to p...
