Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

The bike shop just down the road from me closed last month. I lost one of the springs for my front axle quick release, so I had to go to another bike shop one town over. I'd been there once before, and they were wearing masks. Not this time. 3 employees, one with his mask pulled down around his neck...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

The combined Voltron is 15 inches tall, smaller than Trypticon, but big enough to give him a decent fight.

Each Gladiator is 10 inches tall, just a bit bigger than Cyberverse seismic Stomp Grimlock.

Bluestreak is 8.5 inches tall, so between Voyager and Leader sized.

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I used the smooth tiles from that Speed Stars set to finish my Gladiator Voltron. Back when Kre-O sets hit discounters, I doubled (or tripled) up on some so I could build the bot and vehicle modes at the same time. This meant the vehicles had some joint parts in them that I'd never use as joints aga...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

I find that I've lost almost all interest in the Legends line because of it (and because of Hasbro shuffling the most desirable costumes and variants into exclusive two- and three-packs bundled with figures no one wants). There's enough stuff out there to buy that I don't see the point in following...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

I saw a white Cybertron Vector Prime at a flea market yesterday. i didn't get it, but it did make me think of the gold repaint I bought at a yard sale many years ago, which had a misassembled right elbow. The elbow would bend backwards instead of forwards. I decided to try to fix it today. I got out...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

In my dreams, people (including myself) don't wear masks, but I'm vaguely aware that they/we should. Maybe if I keep this in mind as I go to sleep, I'll be able to use this to recognize that I'm dreaming. So much for that. I had a dream where no one was wearing masks a few days ago, and freaked out...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Thinking more on the CDC's advice not to confront mask-refusers: If you're in a place where the mask requirement isn't being enforced, take off your pants. For the UK readers, I originally meant the US version of pants, which you'd call trousers, but what the hell, go all out. The point is, if one d...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

At least 3 people have been reinfected with covid 19. That is, they had it, recovered, then caught it again. I'm not too worried about this, yet. Immunity after infection is never absolute. Even with chicken pox, usually a one-and-done illness, some people get it more than once. My childhood best fr...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Am I right in thinking that, as an island, England could have responded much more like NZ than they did? Even if England's response isn't objectively worse than the US's, it's more disappointing if they could've done much better than we could've. Three of the 4 states that banned Rhode Islanders hav...

That Sturgis motorcycle rally runs until Aug 16. The Laconia, NH bike week was supposed to be in June, but was postponed to Aug 22 due to covid. So, the bikers have 6 days to get from one superspreader event to another. Heart disease kills 650k Americans a year. Of those, 366k are coronary artery di...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

That school district that said they couldn't enforce mask rules can enforce social media rules, and suspended the girl who posted the pic online. They reversed the suspension after national outcry, though the girl would probably be better off staying at home away from the school, which reported 9 co...

Re: Anyone seen the Netflix show yet? (Minor spoilers)

After watching the clip Crystine linked to (thanks), Youtube showed me the the full (40 min) interview that clip is from. The whole thing's pretty interesting. Though, when Peter Cullen's talking about his imitator and says, "It's grand theft", I just thought: c'mon, man, grand theft Autobot is righ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Cyberverse Battle Call Trooper Wildwheel - Quite a nice figure. He seems skinnier than his toon model would suggest, but his toon model had a poncho, so who's to say for sure? The paint job is much better than on the Cyberverse Deluxes I've seen. Grimlock's got a flat gray, with unpainted shins. Wi...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey are requiring people coming from Rhode Island to quarantine for 14 days upon entry, due to our increasing covid numbers. Mass's restriction goes into effect tomorrow, so this afternoon, I took my last shopping trip into Mass for what may be a whil...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Alberta's plan on returning to school is laughable (No classroom size limits, no budget for PPE for teachers, they expect elementary school students to stay masked and stay 2m away from each other on a playground) and so I'll be homeschooling again next year (losing my job turned out to be a good t...

How often do you get a chance to see his collection? Look around to see what city formers he has, and make sure you're getting him a different one. They're almost toddler sized, so it's not like they'd be hard to spot. Just look for the biggest toys he has. Not knowing if he keeps them in city or ro...

Here's the tweet about Gohmert's underling finding about Gohmert's diagnosis via politico. When I first read your statement about Gohmert informing his office, I thought it was refuting what I'd seen. Then, I noticed the bit about informing them in person and realized that's even worse. The first ca...

Re: [The video game thread]

So, I decided to try my new SNES controller. My SNES won't start. I tried different games, different controllers. Nothing. I think the last time I played it was around Labor Day (early Sept) when I got a new TV and was making sure I had everything hooked up correctly. Donkey Kong Country had lost al...

Sorry to hear that, Clay. I'm pretty lucky here. Yesterday, at Walmart I think I only saw one guy with his mask on his chin, and at the grocery today, only 2. One person apologized when I called her out for not having her mask on, another snapped at me and told me to bother someone else. I'm too muc...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Found Earthrise Snapdraon at Walmart while picking up jelly; haven't opened him, yet. I was just at this Walmart Saturday killing time while my tire was being fixed, and the TF display was pretty different. Lots of SS Deluxes have moved, and more Netflix Deluxes have come in. Edit: I opened Snapdrag...
