Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

1,200 bricks for $50 and a brief existential crisis is a pretty good deal. Do you use https://www.bricklink.com/ ? Now officially owned by LEGO. You can upload part lists (and those can be exported from LDD etc or some third-party instructions come with them) and it'll help break them down into ord...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I had no idea Trypticon was so much shorter than Metroplex. I assume the tail gives them similar mass. I went through the rest of the Worlds Collide set. I like Nemesis Primal more than I thought I would. I was never big on a humanoid turning into an ape, since the modes don't seem inherently differ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I started making my way through the Worlds Collide set. First up, Fangry . I accidentally snipped a bit of one of the tabs that hold his bot legs together in beast mode. Fortunately, it's only visible from the back. It's not the stupidest way I've damaged a figure while removing it from the packagin...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

76199 Carnage - I bought the Maximum Carnage video game back in the 90s because Green jello did the soundtrack. I don't actually have much for Carnage comics. $60 for 546 pieces is a bit more than average. I didn't like the look that much until I put the stickers on. When applying stickers to the e...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I opened SS #72 Starscream today, the Tetrajet from Bumblebee . I can't decide if the altmode is so bad it's good, or just bad. The legs tab into the backs of the shoulder pilons, but not where you'd expect them to. The legs have a bit of a bulge at the ankles for a hinge. You might think the angles...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

Leaving Afghanistan was going to be a shitshow no matter what. If someone wants to argue that Biden's decisions made the difference between shit with little bits of undigested corn in it versus shit without, maybe they have a point. But, it's still better than another 20 years of constipation. We sp...

Re: Human being roll call

Part of the issue for me is that TFs just aren't as much of a factor if my life as they used to be, so I have less to talk about here. Don't get me wrong, I still like the little buggers, and have not outgrown them at all. But, with the pandemic still going, I'm not going on toy runs as much as I us...

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

The link I posted Jun 27 said 57.4% of RIers were fully vaccinated. This says today, 62.3% are fully vaccinated. That's 4.9% in a month and a half, or around 3.3% per month. At this rate, it'll take a coule months to reach 70%, and 5 or 6 months to reach 80%. I'm not sure when herd immunity kicks in...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Hit a semi-local comic shop for the first time in a year Saturday, and got: Power Core Combiners Double Clutch w/Rally bot drones - I already have a few PCC torso bots, but this is my first set of limbs. It doesn't appear that I've missed much. The orange arm drone looks bad, and the red leg drone d...

Re: Anyone watch Masters of the Universe Revelation? [spoilers]

I watched the first 5 eps. 1 through 4 didn't do much for me, but ep 5 was pretty good. The plot picked up a bit, and it looked great. I especially liked the shadow effects when they were in the forest, and how the forge sparks in one scene dissolved into the fireflies in the next. My nostalgia for ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I got a couple Deluxes at Walgreen's Saturday. Kingdom Huffer - Like Bee and Cliffjumper, he's a minibot sold at the Deluxe pricepoint. Unlike them, he's big enough to justify the price. He drawfs PotP Outback. He's a bit shorter than Blackarachnia, but much bulkier, so it feels right to pay the sam...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

If this happens to me again, I'll probably try removing the screw connecting the lower leg to the black peg, slide the black peg into the light blue upper leg, then reattach the lower leg via the screw. So, it did happen to me again. On both legs. And it turns out there are 3 screws on each leg tha...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

My Doubledealer's knee detached because I was mistransforming him. It's not a permanent problem, just a peg sliding out of a joint. But, the sculpt of the leg make it a pain to slide back on. What does yours look like? As far as I can tell the mushroom peg (which does slide slightly) would take for...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Folded and got the spy patrol cassette re-colours pack to go with Doubledealer. If he'd come with Knok and Skar I think he'd have justified the original RRP, it's nice being able to switch between them for different modes and weirdly it's an encouragement to actually transform the thing. Haven't ha...

Re: OFFICIAL TRANSFORMERS TOYS NEWS

I don't own Grotusque, Kingdom Primal, or that Bee mold, and the Blackarachnia is different enough from the one I own that I could be tempted to double dip. But, I'd need to see the set in person to be sure. Which means I'd have to drag myself to a Target 30 min away and hope there's one on the shel...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I finally opened Earthrise Doubledealer. His bot and vehicle modes are legitimately good. His vulture mode is so bad it's good. It's just a bit annoying getting the legs to tab into place when going from one to another. I picked up Furai model kit Autobot Megatron and Shattered Glass Optimus . I'd'v...

Although, reading about the transmissibility of the Delta variant, I wonder if things are on the mend or if this is just the eye of the storm until a vaccine-resistant strain emerges. <sigh> https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/who-urges-fully-vaccinated-people-to-continue-to-wear-masks-as-delt...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

The two Battlemasters are fine, and it's nice to have them again included with a larger figure - as they should be. The toothpaste colour they've chosen for the wee robots is definitely a choice and they only have an eye colour to tell them apart. Couple of blast effects for those easily impressed ...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

LEGO Classic 11016 Creative Building Bricks - As with the previous Classic set I bought, the parts for the builds on the box are in numbered bags, separate from the rest of the bricks. There's only 7 builds, and they're pretty simple, even by Classic box standards. And as with the previous Classic ...

CDC: "Wear your mask whenever you leave your house. We can't be too careful." The Public: "What if we're outside and not near anyone? Or just passing people on the street? Do we really need masks then?" CDC: "OK, here's a list of circumstances where you do and don't need a mask." The Public: "This ...
