Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Now that you two mention it, I've seen the Avengers sets on random drop pallets in the middle of aisles at Walmart, but I don't think I've seen any in an actual toy department yet. Weird. More Star Wars stuff for me! 75203 Hoth Medical Chamber : Hideously overpriced, really, at $40 Canadian for 255 ...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Marvel Legends Forge showed up...late last week, I guess? I was going to take a pic or two before posting about him, but he's so disappointing that I haven't bothered. He's pretty much a straight repaint of that generic male body mold (if you're an ML collector you know precisely the one I mean...t...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Marvel Legends Gambit arrived today. http://i.imgur.com/PplWYTA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NvRFjQ8.jpg I have to say...when I rewatched the 90s show a couple years ago, I was kind of at a loss trying to figure out why Gambit was my second favourite member of the team as a kid (after Logan, of course) i...

Re: GOT anyone? [SPOILERS]

When the TV show came out I told myself "No, you should read the books first." Then I never read the books, and now the backlog of TV episodes seems insurmountable. :( I wish I'd just started with it in the first season because it sounds exactly like the sort of show I would have liked. I don't like...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

My wife's brother and his family gave me a Toys'R'Us gift card as a belated birthday gift. And the way this year has been, that can mean only one thing: more Star Wars Lego! 75228 Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters : Awwwwww! That dewback is the cutest thing I've ever built out of Lego. Totally ad...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Classics Grimlock - Opened, and missing his gun, but with his tail. Getting a new (to me) figure from 10ish years ago make the cost cutting of more recent figures stand out. The light piping works great, making me miss it in modern figures. The material feels more satisfying, too. I think there are...

It gets less adorable when you hear it at least five times a day, but I know I'll miss it when he outgrows it. :) And that is super adorable. :swirly: Ours is still the tallest in her class, and is graduating kinder in a few weeks. We got the grad photo proofs from the school yesterday. I knew they ...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Power Rangers Lightning Collection White Ranger I half-forgot that I'd preordered this until Amazon told me it was shipping. The early reviews were kinda meh, but I was really unimpressed with the one Bandai PR figure I got, so I was expecting the Hasbro ones to be at least an improvement. And I gu...

Re: Mobile games suggestions?

Our three year old has forbidden us from playing mobile games, apparently, so I couldn't help. My wife tried to play some Bejewelled knockoff on her phone a few months ago and he still scolds both of us for it every single day. "Daddy, no circles!" At which point I usually have to point out that my ...

More Star Wars Lego! 75172 Y-Wing Starfighter: This is technically a Rogue One set I guess, because it comes with a bunch of characters I don't know, including a Mon Calamari Admiral who they apparently invented because they were afraid to use Ackbar again after he cameoed in The Force Awakens, and ...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

I bought zero because I'd have to throw out my TV to have room for one. :(

(Or maybe not :( if the crotch was going to explode.)

I was thinking in Canadian dollars, though the exchange rate isn't quite that bad in real life. I think the local shops are asking $450 or $500 for one.

$600 well spent! :glance: Seriously though, has there been a huge-ticket MP that didn't have massive QC issues so far? Re: Book Me, Dano.

Probably the best way to go about it, given your review of the first one. Speaking of the first new Thrawn book, I liked it, cause Thrawn. But I can see how you'd have the opinion you do. It does suffer from 3 things: the time skips, the lack of any characters we really know from before, and giving...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

I'm only now noticing that you'd mentioned the set as well, a couple pages back. Yeah, it's really solid and dense, parts-wise. It's way more sturdy, and way heavier, than the older Star Wars kits I've got -- I picked a few up in 1999 and 2000 when they first started doing them, and maybe one every ...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Well, after about half a decade I've found myself buying Lego again. I blame Hasbro for not selling many Transformers I want to buy. And also my wife, because when I found out that she'd somehow NEVER BUILT WITH LEGO IN HER ENTIRE LIFE, I felt obliged to buy things to build with her! 76111 Batman: B...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

My wife and son got me Siege Lionizer as a birthday gift. He's pretty cool! Definitely more fun on his own than Firebolt or Blowpipe. He works as either a gun or a sword in weapon mode, depending on how you orient the handle. It's a bit tough for some other figures to hold him though, since the hand...

Re: Who's buying all these Funko Pops?

Anecdotally, I've heard that the margin on these is really good. And the small footprint must be really attractive to smaller boutique shops, vs. full-sized action figures. But even though they're being stocked basically everywhere around here, I don't think I've ever seen anyone browsing through th...
