Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

On a happier note, my family's gotten into the Lego advent calendars this year -- Star Wars for me, Harry Potter for my wife and City for my son (who really likes his Lego even though he's only 4). It's fun for each of us to have a little thing to build every day, and the minifigures in the licensed...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I figured the nylon was for the sake of durability...a lot of those parts take a lot of stress when you transform him. I don't think it's the first time I've seen plastic like this used in a Transformer but I can't think of where else I encountered it. After playing with the figure for a few days I ...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

That's probably not going to end well for the site's users. :(

In retrospect, though, it seems like a natural move for Lego and I wonder how long they've been trying to pull it off. Cornering the second-hand market seems to be a really popular strategy for giant corporations these days.

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I'd say that the new Micromasters are generally pretty good, and mostly do a good job of updating the gimmick. But at the same time, they're so tiny that it's hard for them to do much more than the originals did. They're nice but not essential. Siege Apeface: Very much a throwback to Titans Return-s...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

The only problem I have with the book is Rebels and the Sequel Trilogy. Thanks to the show writing Thrawn out of things and Thrawn not having reappeared in the movies, I doubt we're going to get satisfactory follow-ups (if any at all) to the Chiss and Grysk. I know there's the time gap between ROTJ...

Re: YouTube and the FTC COPPA Act

As a parent this is kinda disappointing. Youtube was a pretty good resource for finding for the cartoons my kid wants to watch all in one place. And while there's certainly a ton of advertising, Youtube's algorithm-targeted stuff actually seems to be less effective than the blind-targeted adds on re...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

I hadn't actually finished Control when I shat on it. Now that I have, I think it might actually be the most offensively bad Trek fiction I've ever read. And I mean, I've read a lot of Trek books. I probably checked out 2/3s of the numbered novels from my school library when I was a kid, and some of...

Re: Book Me, Dano.

On a whim and against my better judgment, I grabbed some recent-ish Star Trek books. Section 31: Disavowed : Bashir is my favourite Trek character by far, and I enjoyed his jousts with Sloane on the TV show, so you'd think I would enjoy this...but it's actually a sequel to the same author's Mirror U...

Re: Dalek and Warcry's Endless Star Trek Thread

Don't really keep up with any TV or films whilst they're "hot" for the most part. DVD or downloads long after the fact -- not much justifies buying on physical media or re-watching. Apart from forum and social media mentions, wouldn't know most of it exists. I guess I'm the same way, really...the o...

Re: Dalek and Warcry's Endless Star Trek Thread

Anyone else find that the sequestering of Discovery and Picard onto obscure subscription services has really killed your interest in it? If it was available on Netflix in Canada (as I understand it is in most of the rest of the non-US world?) I'd probably have watched all of Discovery and be very ex...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Classics Ramjet is definitely my favourite figure using the Classics Seeker body, as well, and I agree that the wings being on the legs are what does it. But still, the body shows its age nowadays. It's pretty disappointing that 13 years on this is still the best representation that most of the Seek...

Re: Custom Paintjobs

Honestly, I'd be surprised if you'd find too many people willing to spend money on customized Beast Wars stuff. It's possible, but in general the customs that tend to sell in this fandom mostly seem to be G1 nostalgia pandering stuff. And honestly even that seems to have declined a fair bit, now tha...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

How's the head sculpt on Impactor in person? I've heard a lot of grousing. Also, I'd forgotten how good Ultra Dreadwing looks. Siege Brunt My local stores have gotten a ton of new Transformers stock in for the first time since the New Year! Still kinda spotty on what and where, but the wave three De...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

I know it was inevitable, and I'd long since come to terms with it, but boo to Titan Scorponok all the same. It's just so ill-fitting when he's a regular-sized leader in every single one of his relevant appearances in Western media, and his original toy was half Fort Max's size. Yes it's a thing tha...

More pics. https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/10/03/new-york-comic-con-2019-coverage-hasbro-transformers-new-toys-display-siege-earthrise-cyberverse-397565 Hoist is nice. Shame about the black head. Cliffjumper is alright. The Military Patrol is Bombshock and Growl, I think? Wheeljack does nothing for me.

F-15 Starscream!

I quite like the looks of this one. Like a Classics Starscream that's maybe decently poseable.

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Sweet. Oh, and Prime and Grapple, plus the Micros aren't finished even if nowhere seems to bloody stock them. On the other hand, the Micromasters are the only thing that seems to get regularly stocked around these parts. Hoping for some more good ones in the new line, though seeing Big Daddy and Tr...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I'd really wanted Siege Sixgun , but because my local stores are just flat out not bothering to stock most Generations price points again, I figured I'd missed out on him. But I guess he's getting shipped again in wave four, because I found one (and no other Deluxes if memory serves) at a store wher...

I hope that answers your question.
I think it does, thanks! I'll see if I can track down a game from '16 or '17 for less than what the new one's going for before I put any cash down.

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Product leaks have been pretty accurate lately, for sure. I haven't bought the tetrajet either, but I've heard mixed reviews at best. Apparently it's quite poseable, but it's a kibble-monster with lazy engineering. Even from the stock photos you can tell that the arms and legs just hang under the fu...
