Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

Yeah, that's common from what I read. Some people say you shouldn't leave the plastic in acetone for more than 30 seconds to a minute at a time, rinsing and cooling in between if you're going to do multiple sessions. And you need to be really careful with the heat. I've even seen some folks who skip...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

It turned out better than I had any right to expect! But this week I've been trying and failing to turn a spare RTS Tracks (Actually, I think I may have gotten it from you years ago? I have a whole bin of spare 2010-era toys to experiment with) black. The whole "dyeing" thing feels really hit or mis...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Everyone seems to talk about Cybertron as the best of the UT, but Energon has always been tops in my books. The line gets a bad rap because of how awful the Deluxe and Mega combining Autobots were, but there were a lot of great toys around them. I think my sister's kids have them now, but I remember...

Re: Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

I don't think so. I get where those customizers are coming from, but to me that alt-mode is pretty much unsalvageable. Or at the very least, it would take a lot more than wheels to fix it...I know there's some 3P kits out there for Ratchet and Ironhide that hide the feet and arms a lot better in tru...

Re: [The video game thread]

I think the thing I like most about the combat (and why I liken it to Arkham) is the way that, even though Spidey himself is crazy agile and light, the combat itself feels heavy and really connects. That's a really good way to describe it. I think the basic mechanics work better than Arkham's do, t...

Custom Siege Pinpointer (or: babby's first dye job)

I got Siege Firebolt as a stocking stuffer last Christmas, and IMO he's probably the nicest of the three (two and a half?) traditional Targetmaster molds that the line brought us. There was just one problem: I don't have a single decent modern Hot Rod to put him with! I had him on a shelf with TR Ho...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Siege Spin ister Toy of the year, eye-searing helicopter/10. But seriously though, even though I'm giddy just due to the mere existance of such an accurate neon terror of a figure, fanboyism aside I think he's still a great Transformer. My #1 beef with the Siege line (even before the price hike) ha...

Re: [The video game thread]

One of the best games I've played of this generation. Combat is very much in the vein of the Batman Arkham titles but faster paced. The story is good fun and really engaging and the trophies are not insanely unachievable. I enjoyed it so much I platinumed the game then bought all the dlc and 100% a...

Yet more listings... https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/01/04/new-transformers-deluxe-class-earhtrise-walmart-listings-airwave-alicon-arcee-and-smokescreen-403224 Airwave isn't at all surprising since we've already seen Ironworks. Arcee kinda is because she's almost always portrayed with a futuristic alt...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Is this it? It doesn't have the toy colors versions mixed in, but these are good fun. I don't know if I've seen that exact post before, but that's definitely the same idea. The ship that uses two of the lens bits as wings is probably my favourite of that bunch. :) I've also seen people use Reflecto...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Ideally I'd like Scorponok to be a big bruiser, but I certainly wouldn't say no to a figure that reminded me of the Marvel version of the character at any reasonably playable size class. My favourite thing about a Deluxe Scorponok or Black Zarak would be turning one into Action Master Elite Double P...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Mmm, whilst the pairs are nice, would rather have the rest of existing teams than keep hopping all over the place. And whilst the mould choices are what they are, not having, say, Fixit kinda sucks. But it's far more noticeable with the combiners. It's too bad really...there's so many Micromaster t...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I took my son to Toys'R'Us today to let him pick out something for himself during their post-Christmas clearance, and I found something for myself as well: the Siege Battle Squad . I had the originals as a kid and I've always loved the entire team's colour schemes, but Direct-Hit and Power Punch wer...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Probably pass. Would be more interested in a pre-Siege leader class one. Agreed. Even though he's one of my favourite Marvel characters, a Scorponok that can't fistfight Shockwave doesn't hold much appeal. I completely get why they want to make him a Titan, but a TR Leader with the helmet gimmick w...

Re: Official Transformers new/upcoming releases! Hasbro, TakaraTomy and more

Raiden sounds super cool, but I can't even imagine how big an MP combiner will be. Some new Earthrise listings popped up recently. No pictures as of yet. https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/12/28/new-transformers-earthrise-walmart-listings-doubledealer-snapdragon-quintesson-and-more-403042 Nothing super u...

Re: NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

The LL IDW shelf is one thing I haven't put back out since moving, funnily enough. Pretty much everything else is Marvel or toy inspired. IDW was... mostly fun, I guess? Added a lot to the mythos. But it doesn't have the connection of Earthforce with several years of lines muddled together, or thos...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

They're a bit late. You're supposed to do those before Christmas! :glance: Actually, my family all did Lego calendars so I just finished the last of the Star Wars builds a couple days ago. I wasn't sure what to expect, and the complexity of the little builds were all over the map. Some were just a m...

Re: [The video game thread]

To be honest, I enoyed (and still enjoy) the 360/PS3/Wii generation of consoles a whole heck of a lot more than anything the modern era has to offer. It just seems like there was so much more creativity in those days. The modern gaming industry feels too much like modern Hollywood -- it costs so muc...

Re: Happy Holidays fellow humans

Honestly I think our cats enjoyed the day as much as any of the people in the house. They had so many boxes and bags to hide in, and so much wrapping paper to claw up! Overall the holiday was good. Things were low-stress aside from an over-tired four year old at the end of the day. My mother-in-law ...
