Re: Expectations on new Transformers comic.

From an outside perspective, it's as likely to be what a creator has been told or inferred as it is hard evidence of anything. IDW haven't been without problems or covered themselves in glory in recent years. https://bleedingcool.com/comics/report-claims-idw-has-fired-new-publisher-jud-meyers/ https...

Re: How did the fandom respond to Galvatron after the movie and later in season 3?

Don't recall it being in the actual episode (but it's been a while). Though there may be something in the script/storyboards if that's one of the ones that has surfaced in recent years. Bringing back OP was a rebalancing of the factions and resetting Galvatron to a more Megatron-like state would've ...

Re: Devastator Help

Wouldn't be uncommon, and people don't necessarily have the history of things. Or have forgotten they customised/improvised things themselves in one or two cases with people I've dealt with. IIRC there are late legitimate Asia releases of some early figures, but not sure if Devvy was included. Folks...

Re: Devastator Help

Does the packaging have the wear and discoloration you'd expect even a well kept original to have?

Would suggest posting pics over at https://m.facebook.com/groups/5583202101696788/ where there are people with a lot of experience of sifting out repro packaging and parts.

Re: Expectations on new Transformers comic.

Nope, IDW first did BW stuff in 2006-2008. It was fairly unremarkable but there was goodwill sloshing around about giving page space to secondary and tertiary characters. With the disintegration of the direct market hastened by global pandemic there's not much hard data on recent comic sales. But th...

Re: Expectations on new Transformers comic.

The original BW: The Gathering sold in a similar ballpark to IDW's main "G1" title in 2006 (maybe 75% as well, I haven't done the exact maths and that ignores the cheap #0 issue). Sales across all books tailed off from there -- halving for The Ascending in 2008 and half that again for the ...

Re: Was the reason Transformers season 4 only had three episodes because of the characters were killed in the movie?

As stated, they had a production company (DiC) who offered to do it cheaply. If DiC had bid for TFs it's pretty likely they'd have got that too.

Re: Was the reason Transformers season 4 only had three episodes because of the characters were killed in the movie?

You mean the DIC continuation? Because it was cheap. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Joe:_A_Real_American_Hero_(1989_TV_series) In order to cut production costs for the original animated series, Hasbro dropped Sunbow and contracted DiC to continue the series. Story editor Buzz Dixon explained in ...

Assuming they're like the Siege Soundwave, which the remould seems to be from photos, the head's glued but on a ball joint and will pop off quite easily. Just take the shoulder cannon off so it's not in the way, get a good grip and pull up. Generally speaking if there isn't one or more screws pinnin...

I'd totally go for a 3P Iron Factory "Lord Scorpion" blown up to TR Powermaster Prime scale -- https://tformers.com/iron-factory-if-ex-18-lord-scorpion-new-color-product-photos-of-small-scale-unofficial-scorponok/30219/news.html And that one and the Zeta Fort Max work well at Worlds Smalle...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Despite misgivings about giving WotC/Hasbro money on D&D stuff after the shit they tried to pull with OGL the dicelings red dragon is admittedly pretty cool (the D20 came with the other D&D figure I got some time back, Diana because being in a barbarian costume she fits quite well with MOTU ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Legacy Hauler mostly to give the black head to Grapple, but I do like a generic background bot so Hauler got the Orion Pax head from TR PM Op carved out a bit and stuck to the back of a superfluous FoC Grimlock head. Less than half price in the Kapow sale, which would've been great apart from the o...

Re: What if instead of killing Optimus Prime they only had him step down as leader?

That's the default character arc for a reluctant leader. Rodimus doesn't want the mantle. And in the cartoons he hasn't really been leader for that long so going back to being Hot Rod is arguably a relief and he hasn't been too scarred by it yet.

Re: Who is G1 Galvatron arch foe and why?

Generally speaking there's more emphasis across the original cartoon on doing feature episodes on characters with less expensive toys, showing less violence and including some pithy moral kernels. You don't get the "war" themes that showed up in some of the comics, or at least not as often.

Re: Why was it decided to make Galvatron insane and who came up with it?

Which writer? As with most films it's a collaborative process and there are several distinct drafts/stages of development known. Even in the movie Galvatron's wilder than Megs, and powered up (although in control) -- if they were talking about the film it might have been a reference to Unicron's men...

Re: Did Hasbro come up with the idea to kill Optimus Prime or did Ron Friedman give it to them without meaning to?

Don't particularly recall from creator interviews, but if you look at the publishing timeline of eg Ladybird books the assumption was that Prime/Megatron were gone and Magnus/Galvatron were the new leaders (without clues to the fate of the previous ones) so it's a safe bet they wouldn't have appeare...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Question to throw in -- why does "small" or "combiner part" have to equal shit design? Are kids interested in Legacy Core Dinobots or is it just another strange self-harm thing on Hasbro's part? https://twitter.com/Daim_Choc/status/1620494004004737024 Crankcase -- a redeco so hal...
