How many did/do they make of each Transformer figure?

I'm curious. Does anyone know how many toys they make of each figure? Take 1984 G1 Optimus Prime for example... I'm curoius if anyone has the numbers on how many they made of him, or any figure. I never can find any info on this. Please help!

I like the basic graphics, but the boxes themselves reek of cheap American shit - plastic bubbles, thin card. Made to be thrown away. Give me Popy, Takatoku, Clover or Tomy any day. I mean, blister cards. Yuck. Boxes always look better in my opinion too. Anyway... here's my cheap American shit, lol...
