Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I'm pretty sure that Arcee is Core sized, so it'd be a bit smaller than the original Energon toy. It looks okay for what it is but I don't think I'd buy it in those colours. My brain has kind of conflated bits of Energon and Prime Arcee with ROTF Reverb as time has gone by but the two things this on...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

If they weren't trying to pass it off as Studio Series and more as an Energon basic, it'd help. If what you're after is a new spin on Energon Arcee, I think the ROTB version is even closer. https://i.imgur.com/obk8dIom.png And speaking of ROTB, I got Studio Series Cheetor yesterday. I'm not sure wh...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

LioConvoy looked down at the water beading on his chest plating, then looked back at Rattrap. "What do you expect me to do, hiss?" Net time, Rattrap should add a drop or two of vinegar to the spray bottle. That works for real cats, anyway. Not sure about Supreme Commanders. Or in this cas...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I always thought that Cyberverse Skullchruncher was just a simplified redo of the TR toy...I had no idea it was so hampered by gimmicks that it couldn't even open the beast mouth! Am I interpreting that pic right and the mouth actually hinges open at the nose ? Legacy Tarn is disappointing in some f...

Re: Remembering that our old toys actually exist!

"Remembering" in a somewhat more literal sense than usual this time...I lost this guy in a random junk drawer in the basement for ten years and found him while I was rooting around trying to find some old hard drives. https://i.imgur.com/YzHs3h0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TH4hSxt.jpg I'm not ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Bludgeon I remember really wanting one of these when it came out. I'm not sure if the Whirl put me off (it's a Blackout retool, right?) or if it was hard to find around here. Hadn't thought about it for years, until I saw this post. I'll have to check and see if he's as...

Fox Kids Transmetal Tarantulas This has been one of my collecting 'grails' for ages and I don't understand why it's so hard to find compared to the other Fox Kids decos. It's easier to find most of the Japanese releases than it is to track down this thing! And even some MOSC examples have chrome da...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Legacy Road Hauler's screaming face and claw hand are great for "interrogating" minicons . That claw is easily the best thing about the mold. It adds a ton of personality. I don't think I ever pose my Grapple without it. Is the Crasher wave finally starting to get saturated in the US, or ...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Legacy Crankcase does have flip-out shoulder cannons, though. That's kind of disingenuous, though. People aren't saying "I wish Crankcase had tiny blue nipples pinned to the inside of his windshield", they're saying they wanted the new toy to faithfully replicate the original's single mos...

A couple new things arrived in the mail today! Beast Machines Spy Streak 99% sure I've never seen this in person before. I've been looking for one for a while and this is the first time I've noticed one coming up for sale in Canada. I own all three decos in this mold now, so I guess I must be a fan!...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Legacy Inferno Rounding out the Season 1 Beast Wars cast is this cackling lunatic. I loved the original toy, but it's balljoint construction made it very loose and floppy very quickly, so this is a bit on a upgrade, although I miss the action feature. If I'm being picky, I don't like the insect lim...

Re: How are Fortress Maximus and Scorponok preferred: Ginats or just big robots?

The comics tend to prefer them smaller, which makes sense because the artists need to fit them on the page with regular-sized characters. It's hard to draw a dynamic panel of Fortress Maximus if all you can fit on the page is his shin while keeping the rest of the characters visible! It's a lot easi...

Re: Why was the Rodimus toy smaller that the Galvatron toy and have any of the future Rodimus figures have matched his s

One possibility is that Hasbro only wanted two toys in that big price point for the year. Since they already had the Ultra Magnus mold from the Diaclone days and wanted to reuse it, Rodimus had to be smaller. Another is that it's the result of Hasbro, Takara and the movie studio not talking to each ...

Re: Did Hasbro come up with the idea to kill Optimus Prime or did Ron Friedman give it to them without meaning to?

My recollection is that the production of the 80s Transformers movie was very intertwined with the production of the 80s G.I. Joe movie. If I'm remembering correctly, the Joe creative team came up with the idea of killing off Duke to make room for the new toys main characters. Hasbro really liked th...

Re: Shrapnel's two left hands.

I never noticed this before. It's hilarious! I 'd bet the artist sketched out the different body parts separately before doing the whole drawing, and originally meant for the gun to be in the left hand. But it wouldn't have fit on the box in that position, so they moved it to the right and forgot to...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

The TR Misfire, Twintwist, Windblade wave hardly showed up in the US. I think I saw (new) Misfire once in a comic shop back then. That was it until I saw (used) Windblade at a different comic shop earlier this year. Slugslinger was almost as bad. I saw one Walmart with maybe 16 of them once, but th...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Makes sense; has there been any intimation that Cosmos as a Bumblesaucer retool was the original plan? It seems easily doable with that mould as well. They actually released pics of the design sketches for the retool and even what looks like a partial prototype of the thing. I like it significantly...

You can tell how much I bothered to look at what was inside the pretender shells. Should still be possible to get them off, but recasting or 3D printing alternatives might be better in that case. I don't think I ever noticed myself, I just remembered hearing people gripe that it made customs harder...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I was happy with NN essentially being the original figure with joints. And that's what they're going for with this line, for the most part. It's successful within its scope. Not many of the Legacy toys I've seen are as close to being 1:1 updates as Needlenose here. Kickback is the only one I'd put ...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

I just checked my Overlord, and both Prime Masters slid out OK. Maybe ones with different shaped "faces" are more likely to get stuck. I cannot remember which ones I used, but the fit is tight enough that having slightly thicker paint, or being a fraction of a millimetre wider, is probabl...
