Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Buzzworthy Dead Ironhide and Prowl I just bought this set a month ago at full price. Now, it's clearanced to US$17. So, I bought another. I know from Buzzworthy Bluestreak that blast effects can remove paint if you leave them on too long. So, now I have one set to display with blast effects, and an...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Core Energon Megs looks good. I have the big Energon Galvatron from when I was first starting to get back into TFs. Core animal guy looks nice. I was looking forward to Windblade, since none of the ones I have are great. But, this one is worse. The wings in bot mode look bad, and are the most promin...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Could you use Micromaster Bomshock in lieu of the turret as a transforming representation of the inner robot? I've opened Strongarm, and only have 1 real complaint. I knew about several issues, like the feet being visible in alt mode, the backpack, and the awkwardly placed door wings. None of these ...

Re: Your Latest Non-TF Toy Acquisitions

Lots of LEGO and bootlego this weekend. LEGO 11033 Creative Fantasy Universe - I already own this, but US$50 for 1800 pieces is too good a deal to pass up. I realize that by this logic, I should've bought out the entire stock, but I lack follow through. LEGO 31144 Exotic Pink Parrot - I'd thought ab...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Legacy Dead End Bought this on Tantrum's recommendation, and I'm pretty happy with it. It pairs nicely with Drag Strip, who I've had for a while. Both modes look slick, the robot mode is fun to mess around with, and the transformation is neat. The dual-wielded, scoped pistols are a very dangerous l...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

Megatronia, Monstructor, and Slipstream . I posted Monstructor awhile ago, but recently got more gold pieces and redid the chest. I also found some clear purple pieces for Tarn's abs, along with some light grey Technics to replace some of the dark grey used to hold the treads together. It's not eno...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Bought this weekend: Leader Toxitron - I opened the box to be sure he hasn't been swapped, but haven't taken him out, yet. Buzzworthy Dead Ironhide and Prowl - I bought this set, got it home, and realized both faces had sloppy paint apps. Ironhide had a bit too much grey, which smeared on his red he...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Are the other two Deluxe molds as much fun as Drag Strip? They were snapped up pretty much instantly in Canada by people who wanted to complete the team, so I never saw any for sale and didn't pay much attention to them. But I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing a couple G2 decos if they're up to the s...

... As well as leaving the feet just hanging off the back of every bloody vehicular Transformer which at first I thought was fair enough, given how hyper articulated everyone needs things to be for standing on a shelf with a billion other figures, but now is just starting to irritate me. Why can't ...

Re: Original G1 designs plus articulation?

I would absolutely be interested in an Optimus, if it was priced like a regular Generations toy and not a "high end collectible". I'm not sure if the idea has much mileage beyond that, though. Soundwave would work, maybe the Dinobots...Megatron would be illegal in most places, Seekers wou...

Re: Anyone else thoroughly enjoying the Twitter dumpster fire?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66284304 Destroying years of branding and the fact that 'tweet' and 'retweet' have become dictionary and household words. Apparently, though unsurprisingly, all of the SEO experts on staff were amongst those who left. So, Musk paid above market rate to buy twitte...

Sparkless Seeker used but (I think) complete in box, with both null rays, both Targetmasters, and 3 blast effects. I haven't tried transforming him yet, but he seems to be in good shape. I already own this mold 4 times with the Rainmakers and Hotlink. But, he was only $12 and I like the idea of a z...

Re: [The video game thread]

I found Breath of the Wild incredibly disappointing. The game presented an amazingly beautiful vision of a hugely scaled-up Hyrule, and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing interesting with it. The world is huge but it feels empty, because there are so few things to do in it. There are shrines a...

Re: Grumpy old men: armchair brand management

Reusing Inferno's head is a perfectly fine choice! Geoff Senior drew her that way in some of the BotCon comics, and it really is the coolest thing about the toy. But the character has never been drawn consistently and she's got four alternate head designs of her own, ranging from the original toy.....

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

I'm not sure what it is with the DJD, they have about as much characterisation and individuality as lots of other Decepticons but felt a bit too villain-of-the-week even with longer exposure. Re: other thread, If you're after a cheap decent camera I highly recommend old phones and demo units. The L...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I found Legacy Pointblank and Peacemaker for US$17 today. I'm fairly certain Pointblank is the big one. They're OK. The big guy is a bit awkwardly proportioned. It's like his head and legs are for a bigger robot than his torso and arms. The shoulder kibble looks good, and I don't mind that his shoul...

Re: General LEGO discussion (inc. collectible minifigs)

The Tux and Crasher really get the feel and silhouettes of the originals. :) Not that familiar with the Go-Bot combiners, but Puzzler does seem like a fun project for a hacksaw and some discount store model cars. There weren't many Go-Bot combiners. I think there was just Puzzler and one made of 6 ...
