Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

If he's $40 in the States that probably means they'll ask $55 here. Maybe $60 even. :( Which is pretty galling because I know I paid $20 for Scorponok in the 90s and 300% inflation over 25 years is a bit much, "vintage reissue" or not. But since I was seriously considering paying double o...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

The latest TF I got is SS86 Wreck-Gar. He's pretty neat, I haven't attempted to TF him yet (after having issues TFing Universe Wreck-Gar) mainly because I want him in bot mode for photocomics. Welcome! SS86 Wreck-Gar is a far simpler affair. He's still got a trick or two in him, but he's much more ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Have you had that happen? Not had any problems with just-boiled water on other figures, but not had much cause to do similar with TFs. It might be that I'm being cautious, but I do remember parts deforming after spending too long in an acetone-dilution to dye them and touching the bottom of the pot...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

If I can figure out a way to get the glued head pieces apart non-destructively (any ideas on that front, Clay?), I'll take it apart and fix it. The head actually pops off easily: https://imgur.com/ZTKRrdQ I'd start with an X-acto knife in the peg holes and start trying to gently pry it apart from t...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Putting aside the likelihood IDW and most of the concepts therein have been packed back into a box -- not unlike Mystery Incorporated giving way to other light entertainment variations on Scooby Doo, with occasional fan service like Curse of the 13th Ghost -- Roberts, Scott, etc are a fairly small ...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

Go for it. I think it's a fair point that the pandemic has given a late boost to lines like Transformers and MOTU, and some of those folks will stick around -- although I think some of it is visibility of new posters rather than necessarily huge numbers. For sure. Hopefully it's not for the purpose...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

there's a lot of newer collectors out there! I'm less convinced of this each year. Don't get me wrong, Mattel seems to be doing well selling to 40+ year olds with MOTU, but with TFs the film boost effect is essentially over and Hasbro went fairly all-in on 30th and 35th anniversary outings -- scoop...

It's a good thing Pumpkin comes with two sets of rings because those lights aren't coming off, lol.

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

In theory, we're the target audience. But we still have a sense of whether or not something is good/bad value. So how many of the things are actually selling? To make a rough and not-at-all grounded comparison, the Victory Saber crowdfunded set hit about 2.5x its needed backers, whereas the Star Wa...

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

I got a Studio Cell Pumpkin about a month or more ago (Unicron). I only just now put him into planet mode. Any reservations I may have had regarding the price (about $400 in the States, which is still only 2/3s the Hasbro Unicron's MSRP) have been quelled by experiencing the transformation. Honestly...

Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries Digital Jump Day Edition: As much as I love playing Mechwarrior, I don't know if I'm going to get used to the aiming system. I don't mind the up and down so much on the crosshairs, but having the left stick run the legs and the right run the direction you're looking in......

Well that's scary as ****.

Is the medication they gave him a one-and-done kinda thing, or is going to need a regimen for a while?

Re: Covid 19 / everybody PANDEMIC

I've been back in a college classroom since August (on the other side of the lectern now), and it's gone... not terribly? Masks are mandatory inside, and I'd guess that probably ~60% of the students actually wear them properly. Fittingly enough, that's apparently about what the vaccination rate curr...

Yeah, I found these over the weekend myself.

They've also reissued the original Cheetor in addition to the three you mentioned.

Want me to have a look? I can probably find them, but the last time I mailed something to the UK (for Matt, I think), the postage rates seemed to have jumped.

As of a couple of months ago, I'm a college professor. I'm teaching a full time load of freshman composition classes. It's... exhausting, but fun.

Re: POST YOUR NEWEST ACQUISITIONS!

This is my take on giving Siege Crosshairs bigger wheels. That's really cool and I like it. I know that when I started collecting, I was mostly on about scale models of real-world stuff like Alternators, but over the years I've come to love the generic sci-fi look of "SPACE-[noun]" of the...
