Unproduced Animanted Megatron Toy

Post by Clay »

Via TFW - pictures from a forthcoming book.

No big loss to me - the design is even lazier than the original Sixshot. "Flip out the sides and IT'S A JET! Fold them up AND IT'S A TANK! Stand it up AND IT'S A ROBOT!!!1"

The overall design dosn't look that bad to me, I don't like the chest guns or the head... looks like a demented retard in a football helmet.

I'm glad we got the one we did though.
All that was needed was a catalyst and the machines of war are set in motion.

I think it's a nice design overall- probably would have been good or a kid to play with. I like the robot mode well enough, the tank mode I'm not a big fan of but the jet mode is all right.

maybe that's why it didn't get released, they were afraid he'd get jumped by Ninja Turtles.

Yeah, maybe I'm reacting a bit to the hyperbole of praise in the TFW thread.

It's not the worst ever, but I don't see it as too big a deal that it got canceled. The helicopter toy is better than this one, to me.

Shame that this toy didn't get produced. I really like the design of the robot mode.

I don't mind, it has a bit of a Gundam-y feel to it, except for the Shredder face plate.

i might get stabed with a pencil for this, but I actually really like it, depsite the face and the overly simple transformation...

At least we know where megs 'baggy trousers' aka the lower legs come from...

As usual, i agree with Rattrap. Actually to me it's pretty sweet. I like it, barring the Shredder face (though i didn't really notice it till i read it).

And personally, it would make a damn cool Blitzwing with a head swap. And a triangular jet that finally doesn't really show much alt. mode kibble (unlike G1's tank cannon on the underside, and Animated's, uh, flying brick)!

I thought Marauder Megatron looked pretty cool. I like the face mask thing - a bit of a homage to BM Megs. Plus, he's a more successful triple changer than TFA Blitzwing. The Animated Hotshot prototype that's also shown in the Animated Almanac II looked like a good toy also. better than his Universe and Armada counterparts.

I honestly wouldn't mind having this figure. I'd use it as a Animated Galvatron/upgrade! Who knows maybe that's exactly what it was actually intended to be?
