It's a bot, or a manual spam by some ****ers at cashette.com -- though it is a mildly interesting question, so I'll leave the thread and nix the links...

Does anyone not use Google? How about specific search engines for particular subjects or types of data?

I find older people more likely to use Yahoo, due to it being a structured links listing...

Personally I changed keyword.URL in Firefox's about:config preferences listing to a straightforward Google search rather than an I Feel Lucky one, and I've got keyword search set up for wikipedia, eBay and Amazon.

If anyone hasn't found this functionality yet:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox ... words.html

Try it, it's really handy...

Let this be thy final lesson monster, no man is e'er defeated till his last breath is drawn! And e'en THEN, 'tis most unwise for the victor to assume the battle is ended, for with god and man, a war is ne'er over till the ultimate wrong is set aright and the final villain is DONE!

Strike one more for Google, though I sometimes use Altavista for image searches - seems to mix things up a bit, though you do tend to get every single picture from a site that matches the description in one block, as opposed to Google's "More from this site" bit.

Google, I'm afraid MSN just doesn't do it for me. Their image search doesn't get great results...

Personally I'm using Adblock Plus, All-In-One Sidebar, DownThemAll, HTML Validator, Launchy, Leak Monitor, Magpie, Nightly Tester Tools, Nuke Anything Enhanced, Tab Mix Plus, User Agent Switcher and Web Developer. Although some are installed but disabled until I want to use them.

I'd suggest everyone try AIO Sidebar and Tab Mix Plus. Firefox is a little more memory-hungry than Opera but massively more extendable.

I have a whole load of extensions including some of the ones Denyer's got but my favourite is a little one called Target Alert which puts an icon next to links which open in a new window, link within the same page, or aren't webpages. Not sure just why it's my favourite, but it is.
