Finally decided to download the DLC for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 having hoped for a discount for but never getting one. Briefly tried it and the boss is really giving me a difficult time, he's very aggressive and he has a ton of health and I'm really out of practice.

Another another few shots at the DLC boss and with the right equipment, I found him more manageable.
Am now going to deal with battle mode stuff.

Also bought Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition on PS4.

I finished the DLC for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and I have started on Crysis 3, where I'm about halfway though the story mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Specialist Edition - I bought these doing EB Games Boxing Day sale.

Playing the hell out of Red Alert 3 Uprising. I bought the original game when it came out, but for some reason I hadn't bought the extension until yesterday. How did I miss that???

Well, I finally did it.

I now own a Nintendo Switch. I do have to admit, it’s kind of fun. I picked up Mega Man 11 for it and downloaded Senran Kagura Reflexions, And I’m enjoying both games.

What I’d like to know is if there’s a way to turn the WiFi connection off so I can extend the battery life. At least, I’m guessing that would work. Is does for the Vita and the 3DS.

EDIT: So after a week without plugging it in and sporadic play(which is what I do with the Vita as well. I need more free time), the battery is down to 32%. From all the battery life horror stories I heard, I figured it would have died by now. I'm impressed.

Finished a playthrough of Crysis 3, I'm now doing a bit of clean up of upgrades and what not before taking a shot at beating the game on the hardest difficulty.

Interesting finds over the past few weeks.

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition GameStop Preorder- well, that’s a mouthful. I recommend the Albert version of the Samurai Edge. It’s a lot better than Claire’s starting gun.

Okay, okay, that first one wasn’t all that interesting.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy for the Switch- haven’t tried it yet, but it looks like fun.

Hmmm.... unless you’re into fighting games, that might not be too interesting. For the Vita fans among us.... assuming there’s more than just me....

MLB15: The Show for the Vita. The most remarkable thing about it, really is where I found it. On sale at WalMart. I’m not sure if this particular WalMart just had a box of games stuffed back in a corner and dragged them out to sell for 3 bucks a pop, or if they got them by accident, but whatever their source, it looks like they were leftovers from somewhere, as their entire stock was 6 copies of MLB12, and 1 copy of MLB15. And as this is the only way I can watch my Phillies play, I’ll take it.

And for the real surprise find....

Transformers Beast Wars: Transmetals for the PS1- found this one at the local used game store. I missed my copy of this game. It was a lot of fun. It still is.

Before the turn of the year my order of Smash Bros Ultimate came in. Really good fun! Anything that was ever in Smash is in it, levels, characters, etc. Basically just chock full of stuff. Mostly the same game modes as before, but with a new 'World of Light' mode that plays a little RPG-ish. On that note, trophies have been (sadly, IMO) replaced with Spirits. The spirits grant you extra abilities and what-not, but I really miss the little trophy collection of 3D rendered characters and things from all over gaming. Overall very fun still, and excellent to pick up and play for a few minutes here and there.

I also dipped into Nintendo Switch Online, which is really cheap for a year's worth of membership, but doesn't offer too much. It did give me access to quite a few NES games to play, which is nice.

Otherwise I haven't had much time to game at all. I played the seasonal (January) Darkening of Tristram event on Diablo 3 Switch, and I still haven't finished Doom yet. I think I'm over half-way done, just felt like I needed a break from the adrenaline pumping run-and-gun. Additionally, I've been trying to update my NBA 2K18 roster (I'm too cheap to upgrade to '19 yet) to accommodate for the recent trade deadline.

Oh, and I guess I picked up Transformers: Cybertron Adventures for the Wii. This was something I used to own long ago, which irked me enough to buy a Xbox 360 to play the real Transformers games instead. I don't own any of those anymore, so I figured I would give the Wii one a second shot. It's fun, but nothing special. At least it was only $5.

I'm about four levels in to Dead Space 3 and it's taking me a little while to get used to the controls.

Handful of new things, thanks to sales, trade-ins, and whatnot...

2K had an eShop sale, and since I play my Switch the most of my systems I picked up both NBA 2K19 and NBA Playgrounds 2.

I have 2K18 already (also bought on a sale last year), but the NBA trade deadline makes it difficult to stay up to date with roster moves. As an added bonus, the 2K19 version seems a bit more smooth and the graphics are a touch polished up. Seems like a nice upgrade, if not totally worthwhile.

PG2 is a good update to the original, but there's still some frustrating things that linger. Microtransactions are everywhere, and the progression system to unlock new players essentially forces you to buy the $10 roster unlock. Could I have saved the money and unlocked them by playing? Sure. But I'm not grinding on an arcade style basketball game for 50-100 hours to do so. On top of that, the player unlock pack only unlocks the 'bronze' version of the players, so you still have to play with them to earn XP for EACH PLAYER to level them up to their true status. I suppose it's a good way to keep you playing, but seriously, I want to jump in with Michael Jordan at full strength. Ugh.

Also grabbed Sega Genesis Classics at a local game shop. 50 games for $30? (actually $1.25 after trades) Count me in! This thing is loaded with games I'm very fond of, and also a bunch I have not played before, so there's a chunk of nostalgia goodness as well as some fresh takes. Going to be very happy retro-ing it up for a bit. :D

Been playing Dawn of Man, which I bought on a whim because I enjoy city builders and I'd not played one that started in the stone age. It's quite good, though it feels a bit unfinished. There is no proper ending, once you reach the Iron Age you just sort of... run out of goals to chase. There's no terraforming tool and space needs to be budgeted accordingly, I found that it was fairly simple to get to the Iron Age with the space available with a bit of reorganisation. After the Iron Age there's no real reason to continue building, as that is the last age you advance in. There's also a mode that I haven't played much yet, it's a scenario where you have to guide a mammoth herd from point a to point b without anyone dying that looks interesting. Once I get tired of jigsawing my prehistoric cities onto the pre-alloted space available I guess I'll give that a proper try.

Anyway it's a young game, active devs that seem to want to continue adding improvements to it (so maybe at some point it will have terraforming/extend beyond the Iron Age!), and it's reasonably priced (currently $29 CAD on Steam).

Grabbed an Atari Flashback 9 on clearance. Found out it also has an SD port, so I updated the firmware and dumped about 60 more games on it that we had when I was a kid (select games, I didn't dump the 500-1000 games available for the 2600 on it). In total there's probably ~170 games on my machine now. It's really good nostalgia for people who had an Atari 2600, but there's really nothing there to keep your interest for long if you never owned or maybe even played a 2600. Sadly, the unit only comes with joystick controllers and original paddle controllers aren't compatible with it. AtGames hasn't released Flashback 9 compatible paddles yet either. Awesome games like Kaboom!, Super Breakout and Warlords are pretty clunky to play without paddles. Crossing my fingers that they'll release some soon. Additionally, I got my kids into playing some games on it, and they were enjoying the likes of Dodge 'Em, Maze Craze, and Hangman. It's pretty amazing to watch them having a blast with 40 year old technology that I played up at our cabin when I was their age!!!

 Ours is playing Let's Go, Pikachu! with Hound quite a bit, on his days off and sometimes after school, the story for which is basically an updated Red/Blue. It's a bit trippy to watch her enjoying something I did when I was younger (not exactly her age, you know, but still. Younger. :p ).

She's better at Minecraft than me, too. She's allowed to watch Youtube in the evenings (under supervision ofc) and most of what she watches is Let's Plays of Minecraft. She made an obby (obstacle course) and a dropper (type of Minecraft obstacle, I guess, that you fall into, object is to reach the bottom without dying by hitting something on the way down) and made me run them. She spawned chickens and sheep at me the entire way, trying to make me fall or die, the little jerk. Then she chased me around and tried to kill me, because I couldn't get into creative mode on her map.

Pokemon never hit me when it was out, but I was sort of done with video games when I was in late high school grades, right when Pokemon came out. I think at the time I was playing some NBA games instead. At any rate, it's awesome she's into it - hits you right in the nostalgia bones!

She's pretty advanced for Minecraft at her age! My kids can't even figure it out and get around at all without a lot of help (we don't own it, mind you, but we play at a friend's house occasionally).

I also looked up a few more Atari 2600 games I never owned, from 'Best of' lists around the internet. So I added them to my FB9. I think there's around 200 total on there now!
