Movie Voyager Class Optimus Prime (in color!)

Post by zigzagger »

As always, siebertron comes through with more movie toy news! This time it's Voyager Optimus Prime. Remember the prototype we saw awhile back? Well, here it is in color!

Click me! Yes!

Hmm....I still like the mold. Slim, like the CG version, not as bulky as the Leader class version. Not so sure about the color arrangement, though.

that looks... Good.

Real good.

I haven't been paying any attention lately to all the CGI stuff, but that is, well, Prime.

People may say what they will about the designs of the robots, but... the vehicle modes of all the movie toys that have shown up so far are phenomenal. I may actually get the leader-class Prime just for the truck mode.

When we first saw the un-colored prototypes of Leader and Voyager class Optimus I thought the Voyager had a slight edge.

Now seeing the color Voyager I'm giving the gold to Leader class.

Only by a little, though. Leader class' robot mode is better, but I think Voyager class and Leader class' altmodes are equally impressive.

It's very cool that they transform differently, instead of Voyager being just a scaled down version of Leader class Prime.

Whoo Hoo, more money going to Hasbro this summer. It's a good thing I don't have kids to feed.

:)
Come on and wind me up.

Does he have a little removable driver guy? A couple of the pics clearly have a guy with a hat in the driver's seat, but the open door pic doesn't. Bernie Mac action figure included?

Bernie Mac action figure included?

I do hope so. Itsy bitsy cowboy fellow... But I do prefer the Leader Class. Still, both are excellent!

New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.

Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).

Check out my new sale thread now!

That is ever so nice in colour, and I like the robot mode even more now.

Where's that Lottery win when you need it?

Truck mode's not so bad, and I really don't like the robot design, but if they put a miniature Bernie Mac in there, I'd buy it!

Agreed. Voyager Prime looked better unpainted.

Leader or Voyager class? It may depend on money.

The cowboy hat could be a nod to Peter Cullen too.

Yeah, it's highly unlikely that it'd happen, but someone mentioned Bernie Mac, and that'd be the only draw for me to get that figure. :p

Still have no love for the robot mode (particularly the god-awful head), but it's a decently-sculpted vehicle mode. Interesting that Hasbro can pull this off, while the movie itself relies HEAVILY on 'morphing' pieces all over the place.

There is no morphing in the film designs.

I've seen the designs, I've seen them in action, and I've seen quite a bit of footage. There's a LOT of Morphing and 'cheats' going on, as well as 'batmobile armor' style of transformations going on.

I expected that to a point, to be honest, but I was surprised by just how much of it there really was. Prime's transformation, in particular, surprised me with how much of it was going on. (The helmet details ALL morph out of nowhere in two key shots).

Looks clean to me. I took a second look at the Voyager toy: he looks like he's gone hiking what with the truck on his back.
