[PAPERFORMER] The Big Paperformer Thread

Post by Jaynz »

Since there's been a lot of requests, I decided to dig through my files and see what remains in the ashes of the Paperformers...

Well, the good news is that I've salvaged them from the now defunct Cosmic Rust site. The bad news is that everything's still a mess. I'll get things cleared out and cleaned up in the next few days.

Right now, the 'temp' site is at http://www.pixelsagas.com/paperformers/ . It IS a mess, though everything should be there.

Please bear with as I get things going again. I'll post updates here and on pixel sagas in the mean time.

As a part of my recent addiction to Papercraft, I decided to try Buzzsaw out. Great construction Vanguard, but I hope you eventually decide to reskin these as they look very pixelized.

God I love Papercraft. I also recommend the Porygon Papercraft that's floating around.

EDIT: Also, a reminder to you guys. Please use card stock when making these.

The wheels are one of the most difficult parts of the figures, unfortunately. If you're having problems, simply don't try to make them into 3D wheels. Just glue the backs and fronts together and mesh 'em up that way. Makes the whole figure a lot easier to assemble.

I'm going to be revisiting the Paperformers soon and making them in scale with 25mm RPG figures. I'll welcome any suggestions on who to start with. (Though I'm only checking in here weekly now. :S )

I think our Creative section (click 'Fandom' on the top row of the page) has a section on Paperformers. :)

I try! :) But I'm also a bit swamped, and Paperformers are way way down on the priority list, unfortunately. Despite that, I did take the day to make some improvements to the 'Sideswipe' model which sorely needed to be done. This includes a new 'wheel' assembly, corrected doors, and a redone 'lower leg' section to use fewer pieces.

These are great but most of the models like those need new lower legs like the ones on these models but the problem is easily fixed by cutting off the extras on the leg brace.
But these are easier to use

I do have two questions though,
1. Why did the paperformers go down the drain?,
2. Are they supposed to be made with cardstock or plain paper?

Also ,I would be happy to help rebuild the paperformers collection!!:D

I've made G2 Megatron and did a version of Optimus, but neither I'm really happy with. I know, I know, I really should get Optimus done and out, since he's the guy EVERYONE requests for some odd reason. :)

At any rate... Prowl revised.

I never released the Metroplex set, since I was really unhappy with it, and it was more 'old style' so it looks very blurred and pixelated. I may do an attempt to salvage it in the near future (along with quite a few others) as I get more done and out of the way.

Unfortunately I don't have a complete list anymore. A lot of them were lost a couple of times when Cosmic Rust had its reset and then its collapse. Right now I'm working more to recompile whatever I still have, and salvage from the released files that I've found on the internet. It's getting there, but you'll need to be patient. There are a lot of these guys...

nav wrote:1. Why did the paperformers go down the drain?,
Didn't really. I had them hosted on my site, and when I moved that site went idle and the domain was sold from under me (several years ago now). The surviving models went to Cosmic Rust where they remained with occaisional updates until Cosmic Rust just died. What's been recovered is either here now, in this thread, or waiting to be updated.
2. Are they supposed to be made with cardstock or plain paper?
Heavy paper is probably best, but anything where the glue won't partially dissolve the paper will work. Good paper-stock is a must, particularly with the smaller part.
Also ,I would be happy to help rebuild the paperformers collection!!:D
Already working on that! But if you can put up a list of what you have that isn't on tfarchive.com already, that'll help.

Note: Fearswoop replaces the original Paperformer design.
