Shuttle

Detour blinked once when Rampage began to curl up and mewl around. Blackjack watched, optics wide and mouth agape slightly in disbelief at what just happened. The Micromaster leader realized what Detour had just did, nodded approvingly and turned to see Razorclaw optic-to-optic, and shrugged innocently.

Detour walked towards Rampage and whispered in his ears in a low tone. "When you wake up, you will forget this ever happened. You will respect Micromasters as equals, and will avoid Detour whenever possible. Now... wake up."

The Micromaster did not know whether that trick would work, but after he said those words he walked back towards Blackjack and Ramjet, a smug expression on his face.

Shuttle

Rampage returned to his previous postition before his trance wore off. Looking around him, he couldn't see Detour anywhere anymore. "Heh. Little guy must've ran off. Didn't mean to scare him that much." Rampage then got up and sat down in a seat.

Razorclaw listened and watched. Detour was right infront of Rampage but still he couldn't see him. There used to be a Decepticon that played tricks with the brain module like that. Mindwipe. Could it be that Rampage was under a hypnotic spell? Whatever it was, Rampage left the Micro alone and that suited Razorclaw just fine.

Headstrong however didn't understand a thing that was going on. *Snort* "Rampage. Detour is right there," he said, pointing at him.

Rampage looked, but didn't see anything and slapped Headstrong over the hand with his hand. "You've been drinking too much energon again, haven't you? You must be seeing things."

Headstrong scratched his head. He didn't know for certain if he did when he ran through those Overbite units, but he could clearly see Detour standing there with a smug expression on his face. "Maybe I am *snort* I'm confused."

"Like that never happened," Rampage scoffed.

Razorclaw looked at Detour. He appreciated it that the Micro didn't make too much a fool of his Predacon soldier. He nodded in approval as a sign of having gained a bit of his respect.

Shuttle

"Don't give me that garbage, puddy cat," Ramjet told Razorclaw. "I ain't the admiral's bodyguard fer nothin'. You try to push me or any of my buddies around again and the only 'consequences' yer gunna see is me knockin' dents in your skidplate while the Micros watch and laugh. You don't want me threatenin' your lackeys, you keep them leashed to the porch where they won't make any trouble."

He chuckled as Detour did something hilarious and humiliating to Rampage. Ramjet didn't understand what was going on but he didn't need to, to know just how much Skywarp was going to laugh his head off about it when he told him, and that's what was important.

"Now, I really don't wanna get into it with you, Razorclaw. Your boys are behavin' now. Keep 'em that way and I got no quarrel with 'em, or you. We done here?"

He cocked his head to one side, genuinely curious whether the Predacon leader would let things lie or whether he would try to force the issue. Part of him hoped that they were done...but another part of him hoped that Razorclaw would take a swing at him, just so he would have an excuse to put the Predacon in his place for the way he'd manhandled Tinker. With Megatron lurking around Ramjet wasn't going to throw the first punch...but if punches were thrown, he'd make sure he got the last one.

Shuttle

The other Predacons looked at Razorclaw, waiting to see how he would respond to Ramjet's threat and hoping that he would set them loose on the Seeker.

Razorclaw's optic band narrowed. "A bodyguard you say? At least that's a step up from being used as a paperweight," he said. Ramjet didn't know how to treat him with the proper respect either. It seemed to be a trait among Seekers to not know their place. He could easily pull rank here and report him, but with Astrotrain high up the chain of command and with Ramjet being his friend it would not matter.

"And do not presume that you can order me how to keep my Predacons in line," he said with a cold tone to his voice. "Our dispute is settled," he said in response to the question if they were done. - For now at least.., - he thought.

Razorclaw gave each of his Predacons a look as they all looked back at him. They all knew what it meant when Razorclaw looked at them that way. It meant that the hunt was on and that Ramjet was now a target.

Rampage chuckled and pulled his blade from subspace. He started humming an Earthern song he once heard as he started sharpening his claws with his sword. - It's all about the game, and how you play it. All about control, and if you can take it. All about your debt, and if you can pay it. It's all about the pain ...... and we're gonna make it.-

Shuttle

Detour watched in rapt awe and satisfaction at Rampage as he made a fool out of himself. He couldn't believe Headstrong's stupidity as well... at least that particular Predacon wouldn't contribute much to the Predacons' infamous reputation, surely? After all, he's a frikkin' rhinoceros!

Detour caught Razorclaw's glance and nodded, giving the Predacon leader a thumbs-up, hoping that this would end all hostilities between them and him. But when Ramjet, who had defended him earlier, began to trade insults with Razorclaw, Detour shrugged and stood beside the Seeker's left boot, to show which side he picked. Turning up to Ramjet, Detour said, "Thanks for the help, big guy."

Blackjack shook his head at Detour's handling of Rampage. -Kid's grown up...- the Micromaster thought, smiling approvingly. He remained silent as Ramjet and Razorclaw traded words (after all, if a fight broke out the best odds was to remain neutral and attack the weaker enemy at the climax of the battle. Harsh, but true), and there was no missing the threat in the Predacon leader's words. With the faction like this, small wonder that the Civil War hadn't splintered them into more factions already.

"Good, everything is settled, then." Blackjack quipped dryly, although the tone of his voice was more sarcastic than glad. He flicked his hands and the razor card launchers slid back noiselessly back into his wrists. "Don't kill each other. Save it for the Autobots. And Gigatron loyalists."

Looking up to Ramjet, Blackjack said in a low tone, "You know they ain't gonna give this up so easily, right? You got to watch your back." He wasn't quite sure why he warned the Conehead, but he supposed he had grown to like him somewhat after hearing him defend Detour.

Tinker frowned as he closed a panel on Acid Storm's side. Most of the internal injuries have been repaired to the best of what a field medic could do, back in the hospital and now here in the shuttle. He inserted an energon infusion from the ship's reserves, and gently tapped the other Seeker's head. "Wakey-wakey, lieutenant."

Shuttle

Ramjet gave Razorclaw one last scornful look before returning to his seat. "Any time," he told Detour, not quite sure if he meant it or not.

When Blackjack told him that the Predacons would be watching him, he laughed. "Bah! They're welcome ta try! I ain't afraid of the Preds."

Acid Storm's optics slowly lit up and he looked around.

"Uh...wha..."

When his field of vision focused on Tinker, he managed to spit out, "Where am I and who are you?"

Shuttle

Detour shrugged, hopping up to the seat beside Ramjet's, and sat down, wearing a smug expression on his face. The smile grew wider when he saw Acid Storm getting reactivated. He liked the Rainmaker after that little friendship forged in battle.

Blackjack gave Ramjet a grin and shrugged as he followed Detour up the seat. "They're a gestalt team, Ramjet... and they are persistent. Although I suppose you do have Astrotrain backing you up..." glancing at Razorclaw singing, Blackjack shook his head. "Although I suppose it isn't the Decepticon faction without a conflict or two, no?"

"You're in a shuttle. We're about to head back to Darkmount." Tinker told Acid Storm, while closing a panel on the other green Seeker's side. "My designation is Tinker, one of the field medics stationed in Darkmount. Soundwave led a team here to pull you guys back to Polyhex."

Shuttle

Ramjet shrugged. "Maybe it would be, but I wouldn't like it very much," he told Blackjack. "Hell, we gotta beat up someone when there's no Autobots around, right? Preds'll do as well as anyone, if they wanna play."

"Right. Got it." Acid Storm slowly pushed himself up until he was sitting and was pleasantly surprised to find that he wasn't blacking out from the exertion. "Thanks for the help, Tinker. Can I, uh, move around a bit?"

Shuttle

"I suppose so..." Blackjack replied to Ramjet. "Plus, there's a whole lot of you Seekers, aren't there? It's very close odds, you see... the Predacons are deadly hunters, although Tantrum and Headstrong might be simple minded. One on one with any of them you might win, but as Predaking, well, you might be hard-pressed. Just saying."

"Yeah, sure. I fixed all the internal damages, all you need is a recharge and some patching up of your wings. So long as you don't get into a fight you'll be fine." Tinker told Acid Storm.

Veteran’s Hospital

Vindicator and Zenith soon arrived back in the main area of the hospital were the battle had taken place earlier. They wasted no time in getting to work and bagging the bodies.

As Vindicator gathered up the shattered remains of Blunderbor he couldn’t begin to imagine how the forensics team back in Polyhex would be able to get any useful information out of this pile of scrap metal.

Downdraft soon arrived back with the rest of the triple changers. Vindicator was about to say something to him for leaving but thought better of when he saw that Downdraft was directing the other triple changers to help with gathering the bodies.

Vindicator waited until the other triple changers were done packing the bodies up before hoisting his own bag up over his shoulder and leading them out to the shuttle.

Shuttle

Acid Storm slowly got to his feet, holding firm to the gurney he was on until the resulting dizziness went away.

"Thanks for looking after me," he told Tinker. Then he caught sight of Detour and made his way over toward the Micromaster.

"Did we get him?" he asked.

Ramjet shrugged. "Bring 'em on. Combinin' just makes 'em a bigger target!"

He wasn't sure he actually believed that, but felt obliged to provide the thuggish bravado that he was known for anyway.

Once Vindicator finished collecting the bodies, Megatron followed him and his triple changers onto the shuttle. Soundwave followed a few paces behind, not even bothering to look at his commander.

The communications officer hit the button that closed the ship's hatch and said, "All troops accounted for. Tinker, take us back to Polyhex."

Shuttle

Blackjack smiled and shrugged at Ramjet's reply. "That's the spirit! Bigger things make a louder boom when they fall, after all. Words that all Micromasters take to heart."

-With more people like him in the faction and less people like the self-absorbed Razorclaw, we wouldn't even have this Civil War.- Blackjack thought.

"Hey, you know anywhere in Darkmount that could use the services of a Micromaster like me?" Blackjack asked Ramjet. Might as well as try to find where he would fit in the new hierarchy, after all. When Vindicator, Megatron and Soundwave entered the shuttle, Blackjack gave them the obligatory salute.

Detour winced when Acid Storm approached him. This conversation had to take place sometime, after all...

"In the battle that ensued, I managed to sever his head." Detour began, "But apparently he's a Headmaster or something, because his head transformed and ran off. I pursued him onto the Silver Circuitmaster Station in Polyhex, but he rallied the civilians there against me. We had to break off the chase when Commander Jaggor and Dark Walk's delicate systems were punctured, creating an implosion that engulfed much of the Station. Stratus chose that moment to slip away, and Misfire and I were ordered to return."

Detour looked down, optics downcast. "I'm sorry."
_________________________

"It's part of the job. You're welcome anyway." Tinker nodded to Acid Storm. Tinker turned to begin repairs on Misfire, but Soundwave had given him orders, nodding to the communications officer, Tinker strode towards the pilot seat and sat down, and began powering up the engines. "Strap yourselves in, Decepticons... we're taking off."

The shuttle began to lift of the ground, and soon gained altitude and velocity as Tinker brought it towards the direction of Polyhex.

Shuttle

Razorclaw stills at in his chair, watching and listening to what the others were talking about without showing any sign of emotion or reacting to anything. His optics ahad an icey glare over them now and the other Predacons saw it. They were getting a little giddy as they knew their leader had picked a target.

Rampage kept sharpening his claws on his sword while humming another one bits the dust. If only to annoy others with it. He looked at Ramjet from time to time and snickered.

Shuttle

Vindicator clipped his shotgun into one of the gun racks mounted inside the shuttle. Now that they were leaving Kaon he doubted he would need it again.

He nodded at Blackjack when he saw the micromaster’s salute.

As he felt the shuttle take off Vindicator leaned back in his seat, sitting quietly as they headed back to Polyhex.

Shuttle

Hightower having entered earlier enjoyed the theatrics between Ramjet and Razorclaw smiling, wondering who'd strike first but was disapointed when nothing happend, and sat there as the shuttle took off

Shuttle

The shuttle soon passed above Veterans' Hospital, where Galestorm had been stationed to keep an optic on matters there. Tinker activated the sub-light engines, and the shuttle quickly picked up speed. They sailed above the Military Security Row, and the ruins of Kolkular, an ugly, tainted scar, loomed below them, a reminder of their recent failures. Near it one could note the immobile form of the gargantuan War Machine that's now deactivated.

Behind them was the Acid Wastes and the industrial districts of Kaon. In front of them Polyhex soon grew distinct. The contrast between the two city-states were easy to spot. Kaon was disordered and disorganized, in dirty, rusting shades of grays and browns, truly the most down-trodden slums of Cybertron. Polyhex, on the other hand, was sharp purple and metallic. While not as shining as Iacon is, Polyhex still had with it a sense of grace, of a strong order that gripped the land, of the might of the Decepticon empire, of peace through order.

Blackjack smiled as he glanced out of the viewport near his seat. He certainly wouldn't miss Kaon. While Polyhex had its Dead End regions, they felt more like home than the desolate, grimy streets of Kaon, a city that, to the Micromaster, felt like a dying beast gasping for its last breaths.

Kaon might have had its days as the site of the beginning of the rebellion, of the Decepticons' once-mighty fortresses in the early days of war, but those days were long past. Kaon had become obsolete. Just like that poor disillusioned Emirate Corvus and his clunky War Machine. Compared to a state-of-the-art Micromaster? Hah! There was no comparison.

Likewise, it was great that Megatron did not insist on creating his main base at Kaon again. True, he did recruit lots of new warriors and established the area as part of his territory, but Blackjack appreciated that Megatron would return to Polyhex. After all, the resources there, the strategic location, the troops already stationed there... Polyhex was the future. Kaon, though it had its time, was the past, and would be best left there.

And Polyhex? To Blackjack, Polyhex was home. It was where he was raised after he was created by Thunderwing. The Dead End regions was where he trained, the casinos there were where he gambled, and it was the fateful area where he met with Megatron for the first time, some ten, twenty years ago...

-It's going to be great when we get home...- Blackjack thought, smiling.

Shuttle

"A guy like you? Small, smart, shifty?" Ramjet shrugged as he mulled over Blackjack's question. "I figger Soundwave would be happy ta have you."

The Conehead completely ignored Razorclaw. If the Predacon wanted to start something now, with Megatron aboard with them, he was welcome to try.
_________________________________________

Acid Storm waited for his anger to boil over when Detour described Stratus's escape, but it never happened. He didn't feel anything, honestly, other than a vague hollow emptiness inside.

"You did your best, I'm sure," he said to the Micromaster, aware of just how flat and tinny his voice must sound.
_________________________________________

As the ship lifted off, Megatron moved to the front of the cabin and rapped against the hull to draw his troops' attention to him.

"My fellow Decepticons," he began, "I'm not one for speeches, so I'll make this short. I just wanted to let you know that I'm very, very proud of what you accomplished in Kaon. When we arrived it was a city in rebellion, run by corrupt functionaries and businessmen. Because of you, order has been restored.

"We can't stop there, though. There are too many other Decepticon city-states scattered across Cybertron that need our help, ones that are ruled by Gigatron's followers or by self-interested local elites. Very soon now we'll start mobilizing for another campaign.

"That's tomorrow, though. Today is a time to celebrate, and to remember those of us who fell. When we land at Darkmount, take some time to tend to your wounds, recharge and relax. But in twenty breems, I want you and all of your Decepticon brethren to meet me in Polyhex's main square. After what you've done, you deserve a celebration."

He stepped away from where he had been speaking, caught Soundwave's eye and said, "Make the arrangements."

Soundwave practically bristled. "This is a ridiculous waste of resources," he said, softly enough that the troops hopefully wouldn't be able to hear.

"Troop morale is never a waste of resources," Megatron told him.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about," Soundwave said icily. "Your war--"

"The war," Megatron retorted, "is necessary if we're ever going to restore order to Cybertron. My mind is made up, Soundwave. Don't bring this up again."

"Yes, sir," Soundwave replied contemptuously, then walked away.
