Iacon, slums

Sunstorm turned down an alley. He didn't try to go unnoticed, (it would've been a wasted effort for him anyway) rather he relied on the apathy of the area to let him pass without remark. Anyway, The access hatch was only a few more blocks away and he didn't expect to encounter any trouble in so short a time. He glanced at the machinery tucked under his arm. It wasn't as much as he'd hoped for: Salvaging is a slow process.

The ex-Seeker fired an arc of energy at a passing cyber-rat and smirked.

Prowl's Office

Springer looked at Smokescreen. Although he didn't show it, he was suprised to hear him make somewhat of a joke. "I never said anything about killing me, although I'm sure that you have more scenario's in that brain of yours than you just mentioned to kill me. Aren't I glad that I'm usefull then.

Then it was Prowl's turn. Prowl paced around his chair and threw more than enough big words at him to make him brain module spin, but he caught the gist of it. "Thank you," was all Springer could say quickly. He was very suprised that he got his wish to be reenlisted so soon and it was more than enough right now. It gave him hope and confidence that the road to redemption that he's walking on right now is worth the walk.

"That's quite generous of you, but I'm sure that you're going to want me to do something for it in return, right? You want me to return to Crystal City?"

Prowl's Office, Autobase

"That is correct. Your reenlistment comes with a few stipulations - as it should be, considering your past indiscretions," Prowl told Springer. "The first is that you will serve directly under me. An arrangement you will no doubt find far from ideal...but, consider it a test of loyalty. You shall be my chargé d’affaires..."

Prowl paused and looked loftily down to Springer. "That is 'ambassador' in laymen's terms," his said. "Admittedly, while the title is somewhat superfluous, it is legitimate and quite necessary, I assure you. And as you have already surmised, your first mission will be to return to Crystal City and deliver an important message to Gigatron."

Prowl glanced over to Smokescreen. "Smokescreen, if you would explain to him what the SIS has learned."

Firecracker frowned. "That describes a lot of guys. It's not Slingshot, is it? We've already got, uh, some ideas in mind for that'un. Not too bright and a bit of a jerk, but hey...folk say that about me too."

He smiled when Magnificus agreed to his suggestion. It had been his idea and he was looking forward to telling the boss about it.

"You'll have to keep us in the loop if you can get your foot in the door." He shrugged, then stretched out on the sofa paying no heed to the throw pillows he was dislodging. "If all else fails we'll just tell the press 'bout your shady connections and ol' Sunny will be guilty by association. He'll lose and we can disappear his chassis later on when no one cares anymore."

(OOC: Can you get Slingshot dumped into a cell, please? :) )

"You shot the wrong one," Sideswipe told Drift. "Sunstreaker's brain could have used a bit of ventilation. Maybe it would have bled off a bit of the ego."

Smokscreen, who had been perching on the edge of Prowl's desk, hopped off and took a step toward Springer.

"Megatron's troops have built a superweapon that can blow up orbiting starships in a single shot," he said flatly, not bothering with the scientific details that had been put forward in the full meeting. Springer being Springer, Smokescreen figured he'd appreciate that. "Something needs to be done about that, obviously, and we need to coordinate with Gigatron to do it. That's where you come in."

(OOC @ tahukanuva: If you want Sunstorm to run into someone who'll give him a hard time, drop me a line.)

"Slingshot? Rings a few bells, but I can't say we've ever met," Magnificus answered Firecracker. "So, he's kind of a brute then," he shrugged. "I think this 'Slingshot' of yours will get along well with my man."

(OOC: More stuff between these two below. I'm going for a slight cinematic feel for this post - you know, cutting to Slingshot seeing as they're talking about him.)

-----

Holding Cells, Iacon Security Service HQ

The holding cells are locating in building alongside ISS HQ. It is a 'lock-up' used to temporarily hold detainees while they await judgment and/or transfer. Rarely is an inmate's stay long term.

Two ISS officers moved along a long corridor of cells, carelessly dragging an unconscious Slingshot as they hefting him up by the chains of his stasis cuffs.

"What's this one's story?" one officer asked his colleague.

"Him and his buddies caused a scene at Maccadam's. Shot up a few people," the other answered. "Heard he resisted arrest and head-butted Hot Spot."

"Heh, really?" amusement was clearly in the officer's voice. "Explains why this guy's out cold."

(OCC: obviously they didn't get the full story)

They stopped in front of a single-cell - an accommodation only allowed to those that are too violent to be held with others, or in Slingshot's case, too vulnerable*.

(OOC:* i.e. He's unconscious. Can't have other prisoners messing with him after all)

"Retract the bars, would you."

" 'Kay," the officer nodded. He moved over to the control panel next to the empty cell and worked the switches. One by one, the energy beams faded and dropped down into their respective valves.

The two cops hauled the stasis-locked Aerialbot into the cell, still dragging him along, and dropped him down onto a freestanding metal bunk.

Once they disengaged Slingshot's cuffs, one officer 'dusted' off his hands and said, "All right, that's that."

Stepping out of the cell, they brought the energy bars back up, then turned away and made their way back down the corridor.

"....If all else fails we'll just tell the press 'bout your shady connections and ol' Sunny will be guilty by association."

Magnificus frowned back at Firecracker. "I get where you're coming from, but if it's all the same to you, I'd rather it not come to that. Let's stick to the original plan, yes?"

Firecracker grinned. "Yeah, sure thing," he told Magnificus in a voice that deliberately wasn't very convincing. It was hard to tell whether he was serious or just being a jerk though. "Whatever you say."

He straightened up a bit. "Now, you say this goon you're gonna loan me is ex-ISS, right? It turns out that the fuzz have our new buddy Slingshot locked up in the pokey. Someone who could give us the lay of the land, maybe'd be helpful springing the dude."

Slingshot groaned, slowly regaining consciousness and trying to figure out where he was.

Deftwing walked down the prison corridor with a bearing like he owned the place. But then, he more-or-less did. As the Autobots' JAG, his department was in charge of prosecuting, defending and presiding over trials where military personnel were involved. He'd already quickly swept Fizzle, Lionizer and Joyride's cases under the rug with fines, punishment duty and, in one case, a demotion. He figured that his masters, both military and political, would appreciate it if he did the same for the last person involved in this mess.

He flagged down the two officers he saw walking down the corridor and asked, "Where can I find the prisoner Slingshot?"

"I aimed at him, for all it's worth." Drift told Sideswipe. "Shot Electro instead. Good thing he got better. Ol' Sunny retreated, anyway, so that bit was a shot to his pride anyway."

Drift chuckled as the waiter handed both of them a drink each. "What's with you and Sunstreaker anyway? From your tone the two of you don't seem to be on good terms."

Prowl's Office, Autobase

Springer looked over at Prowl and then at Smokescreen. He scratched his head at what Prowl was telling him. Big words weren't his thing and Prowl always did like to talk big. Supposedly it would impress everybody, but Springer was very far from impressed. He was even more dissapointed that he had to work for Prowl directly, but given his current situation, he knew he had no choice but to accept.

Smokescreen kept it simple though. Straight to the point, just the way he liked it. Springer nodded. "Alright, so let me get this straight. I can call myself an Autobot again, but I'll be your flunky," he said while pointing at Prowl, "and you want me to tell Gigatron what you just told me. What about any evidence? I'm sure that Gigatron would love to see some proof."

"Aim better next time," Sideswipe said bitterly.

After the waiter brought them their drinks, he took a few sips before telling Drift, "Sunstreaker betrayed me. He called me to help him with some sort of zany scheme. I ended up in the hospital for nearly a year, with my memory of what happened wiped and Sunny Boy making no effort to get me fixed. He used me and then left me to die when he was done with me. Where I'm from that's not how you treat a brother."

"This has all the proof he'll need," Smokescreen said, tossing a datacard at Springer. It wasn't exactly a complete record of what his men had shown them -- he'd censored anything that could reveal the exact source of their initial lead -- but it would definately be enough to raise Gigatron's hackles. "Mostly dry, technical details, the physics behind how we think the weapon works. Feel free to read it if you'd like," he said, highly doubtful that the ex-Wrecker would even consider it.

Crossing his arms, he said, "There is one more thing. As you probably guessed, you won't be our only agent in Crystal City."

Drift shrugged as Sideswipe told his story. He gulped back a sip of his drink, then shrugged. "So... it's not only the Decepticons that can change, yeah?" Drift shook his head. "A bit tragic, that. I mean, I knew Sunstreaker was kind of a bastard, but never that cold."

"No thanks," Springer said in reply to Smokescreen as he caught the datacard. "I'm sure it'll only bore me."

He tucked the datacard away in one of his compartments and then nodded. "Yeah, Repugnus," he said, rolling his optics at Prowl and back at Smokescreen. "Quite convienent now that he didn't kill me, huh?" he added with a smirk. "He told me via an encrypted transmission that he was working for you. Do you need him to be extracted? Or can I count on his assistance if things go awry?"

"He was always like that," Sideswipe told Drift, taking another sip. "He's just not bothering to hide it anymore. Why should he? He burned his bridges with all the other Autobots when he killed half of Moscow and tried to join the Decepticons. After that, no matter how desperate they were for bodies to fight the Quintessons it was only a matter of time before he got himself drummed out."

It took no small amount of concentration for Smokescreen to keep from wincing when Springer revealed that Repugnus was his agent. He'd kept that from Prowl for all sorts of very good and entirely self-serving reasons after the Monsterbot had decided to get into a firefight with half the ISS on his way out.

"Yes, quite," he agreed with Springer. "Consider him at your disposal now, for whatever you have in mind. And that includes blowing his cover to Gigatron if you need to give him something to prove that you're on the up and up. Repugnus's behaviour since he was recruited is an embarrassment to my agency and the Autobots as a whole, and he's decidedly expendable if it comes to that."

"So Moscow wasn't mere rumours." Drift murmured. "I thought it was some sort of Decepticon propaganda..."

Drift shook his head. As Deadlock he had torn apart cities as large as Moscow in other planets, completely massacring the population. It wasn't... he wasn't any better than Sunstreaker. But he kept his mouth shut, and did what any sane man would do — take another gulp of the drink.

Iacon, Underground

Sunstorm finished hooking the new parts into the bizarrely piece-meal machine he had fashioned. It wasn't quite ready. No, not quite. But it was close. So so close. He had been planning this ever since he'd deserted. Ever since that day he burst out of the Temple of Primus and flew out on his own, it had all been for this. Damn that Deathsaurus. Making him doubt. Sunstorm knew he was the true son of Primus. He knew it. But then, Deathsaurus... Sunstorm had seen him speak face-to-face with his world's Unicron. A being every bit as powerful and terrible as this dimension's Chaos-Bringer. And Deathsaurus still doubted the existence of the divine. Of the super-natural. Hrm. It had.. shaken Sunstorm's faith, yes. But no more. This machine would prove once and for all that Sunstorm was the God he believed himself to be.

As soon as it was finished. Hrm.

Sunstorm sat down in a corner of the room and began to read a copy of King Lear.

(ooc; What? I'm sure Cybertron's got some translations of Shakespeare laying about.)

Magnificus cocked his "eye brow' at Firecracker.

"Ha. Ha," he 'laughed' in a deadpanned manner. "All right, you can drop the snarky jerk shtick now." While his tone suggested slight annoyance, he showed poise and good-humor in the presence of his guest.

---

Magnificus pensively tapped his lip as Firecracker continued.

".....Someone who could give us the lay of the land, maybe'd be helpful springing the dude."

When he finished, Magnificus lowered his hand and rapped his fingers against the arm of the chair.

"Mmmm, I'm not so comfortable with that idea," he said. "But, if he's willing to help you guys, I guess I can...you know, simply turn the other way," he shrugged. "He no doubt knows a thing or two about ISS facilities and protocol. Can't say I've ever felt the need to ask, though."

When Deftwing approached to the two officers, one tossed up his hand blocking the visitor's path, "Hey, who the frag let you in here without-"

"Shh, cool it," his colleague stepped in, gently pushing him aside. "He's a legal advisor."

The officer looked to Deftwing. "We just put him in his cell, actually," he said "Right this way, I'll take you to him."

The officer motioned Deftwing to follow him down the corridor.

Prowl's Office, Autobase

(OOC: Oh...the data Prowl had Mainframe compile and encrypt for him was meant to go to Springer. Oh well, it wasn't that important of a detail, anyway. What Smokescreen handed over is pretty much was the same thing. So, yeah, no biggie.)

Prowl looked to Smokescreen, his face evincing no emotion.

"Repugnus?" he said impassively.

He said nothing more of the matter, maintaining his usual cold professionalism while Springer was present. His stringent sub-routines, after all, prevented him from reacting in any other way. Though, Smokescreen, who he assumed had a hand in staging the Monsterbot's escape, had indeed crossed his mind.

Words would most certainly be exchanged, but for the moment, he would have to remain willfully ignorant of Smokescreen's dealings.

"Along with this data," he looked to Springer. "You are to relay an additional message - one that you will be provided prior to your departure - that in essence states that we wish to extend our cease fire with Gigatron's forces*," he told the triplechanger. "To carry out your mission, you shall also be assigned a shuttle. The vessel's course will of course be pre-plotted. If you deviate from the flight path, it is programmed to return to Iacon. A precaution," he raised his chin. "To make certain you stay on task."

(OOC: * More on that message later.)

"I doubt it'll ever come to that," Springer said in response to Smokescreen. "I don't want my path to redemption to be stained with the blood of an Autobot. No matter how crazy he is." Springer scratched his chin. From what I heard, his infiltration is a success and nobody suspects him to be loyal to the Autobots."

While Prowl showed no sign of emotion when Springer revealed that he knew Repugnus was a secret agent, he knew that this was new information to Prowl. Springer wondered if he maybe shouldn't have said something about it, but he didn't dwell on it much. Afterall, they gave him a hard time too, so this'll give Prowl something to scold at Smokescreen too. Springer smirks at the thought.

"You won't have to worry," Springer said to Prowl. "I'll get the message delivered to Gigatron inclding the data. Do you want me to go to Crystal City alone or am I getting an escort?"

Sideswipe shrugged. "Yeah. And apparently, committing mass-murder for absolutely no reason made him a little bit unpopular. Who would have guessed?" He shook his head and looked at Drift. "Killing for a reason is one thing. Killing because your paint got scratched or whatever the hell set Sunstreaker off is completely different."
