"No worries." Clench replied to Eject. "He's not a brand new entrant or anything like that. He has proven himself here, but he needs a bot with the right managerial style to market himself. I think he is somewhat lacking in the intelligence department." Clench said, recalling his earlier conversation with Grimlock.

"You can watch the fights on the holo-vids if you need proof of his talent. His name is Grimlock. A little raw with the finesse, but lots of raw strength and brutality as well.

"We will leave in just a few." Thrust replied to Thundercracker. "Need to see make sure nothing bad goes down here for the next few moments." He said, indicating Lugnut.

Kaon, Streets

Deathsaurus's comments caused Dirge to look briefly over at the other mech, but he quickly resumed his vigil on the area. He had noticed his employer's odd behavior as Astrotrain had, but it wasn't his job to be concerned about such things. If he allowed such things to distract him, he might not have an employer for long. He did however nod to acknowledge the comment.

Jetfire half-shrugged; he'd never really followed sports. "Seems like a funny way to pick your leader," was all he said to Starscream.

Lugnut nodded briskly. "Of course," he told Starscream. "The comm-net is overloaded right now, so we won't be able to get a signal through from here. The governor's palace has a dedicated hardline running to the capital, though. You should have no problem getting through from there."

That part was true, at least. He wasn't sure on the specifics, but he knew that Megatron had resources that had a hand in the communications infrastructure. If either of the scientists had tried to place a call, they would get nothing but static.

The large Decepticon started to walk away, hoping to short-circuit any future questions.

Predacon shrugged. "One step at a time," he told Finback. "First, we need to stabilize your condition. Then we can see about repairing it."

Had he been as half as organic as what they were discussing, Scorponok's words would have made him blush.

"Flattery will get you everywhere," he told him. "If you have one you can spare, preferably one that's brain-dead or not-yet developed, it would be ideal. Possibly several. Just in case."

Megatron closed the channel to Thrust, then turned to regard Venom.

"Thank you for coming," he told the other Decepticon as he tossed a datacard at him. "I've made a few changes to your script, mostly to the wording." Wryly, he said, "You're still trying to make me sound like a politician."

As he spoke, he returned Deathsaurus's message: By all means. I have a few appointments to tend to, but I'm free for the evening.

Venom nodded.

"Apologies Governor Megatron, it's difficult to strike a balance there are still elements of the population who percieve you as merely a flash in the plan jumped up Gladiator. I was attempting to add some gravitas."

Finback wheezed.

"sounds very sensible , no point building a new body if I expire in the meantime."

"Right." Scorponok replied to Predacon's more sensible suggestion. "Got carried away by new prospects, my dear colleague. We will need to stabilize your condition, mister... well, we never did get your name, no?" Scorponok waved a claw at Finback, more civil now although he was still partly scowling.

"Flattery, Predacon? Hardly. Praise goes where praise is due. I will get set in acquiring one of the blank protoforms I have around here. And the organic components, too. Say, Predacon... have I told you about the techno-organic protoform I tried to make a couple of months ago?"

The large Decepticon didn't wait for an answer as he stepped out of the laboratory. "Be back in a bit, Preddy. I'll get our stuff while you play doctor."

Energon cube in hand, hunched over in the shade, Grimlock observed the comings and goings of the entire spaceport. He noted as Brawn and his crew disembarked from their ship. He noted that the short mech was built strongly. While tiny, he would be troublesome if they were to meet in a fight.

Grimlock noted as Straxus descended in the secure locations. Grimlock didn't recognize Polyhex's governor, but he seemed like one who relied more on brute strength in battle. Doesn't look like a meek politician, though. He also noted Gunrunner landing nearby. The bearings of that young Transformer made Grimlock assume correctly that he was a military mech, albeit a greenhorn. A veteran would be mature enough to be less flashy in landing, especially in a location as seedy as Kaon.

Grimlock observed back to the large-ish group that he noted earlier. The duo of Seekers and their large companion were still there... no. The black Seeker was gone, but the red Conehead and the large purple brute were now talking to a host of others. Grimlock narrowed his optics. He recognized Thundercracker and Dreadwing from his earlier look at the spaceport, but the other two he didn't notice until now.

They looked like the polished, scientific type. The white-and-red Seeker stood in a more confident gait than the others of similar build around him, which gave him an air of superiority, sort of. He had an intelligent glint in his optics that made Grimlock note that he would be a dangerous opponent, if a probably cowardly one. Grimlock guessed the Seeker would strike from afar in battle, or utilize others as shields to protect himself.

The other one also transformed into a jet, but seemed more clueless, like one of those studious scholars who never stepped out of their quarters. Grimlock shook his head. Someone like him wouldn't survive a round in battle.

Ah, there the black Seeker was, hiding behind some crates, barely noticeable had it not been for Grimlock's well-honed instincts. Evidently to be better to attack the newcomers should hostilities ensue.

Grimlock's optics narrowed. The black Seeker, the red Coneheaded Seeker and the purple-and-green brute seemed to be part of an organization. While they may be nothing more than some common thugs, word on the streets is that some large rebellion force is building on the horizon. A militia, if you will. And with a gladiator like Megatron running for office, Grimlock figured it would be a little while until tensions peaked.

The question is, if slag hits the fan, which side would Grimlock be fighting against?

"Those of a military design are more likely to choose a leader who is strong and has proved himself worthy of respect, Jetfire," Starscream replied.

He turned his attention to Lugnut. "I'm sure we won't have any problems," he said, quite guilelessly. Then, a little caught out by the other's rapid departure, he hurried after with a quick nod to Jetfire.

Governor's Palace, Kolkular

Megatron smiled. "Gravitas comes from how you carry yourself, not what words you use," he told Venom gently. "And as you say, a good number of my people still see me as nothing more than a gladiator. The quickest way for me to lose their respect is for them to think that I'm reading a script written by someone smarter than me."

He smiled.

"Even though that's exactly what I'm doing. Kaon loves me because they trust me to understand what the common mech wants, and a part of that," he chuckled once, humourlessly, "unfortunately, is sounding like their idea of the common mech. Polysyllabic words and grandiose, expressive language, as well-crafted as it may be, simply don't fit with what they want to see in me. Thankfully, I spent enough time with Skullgrin and his actor friends in my celebrity days. I know how to play my role."

"Fantastic," Lugnut said, making sure to flash Starscream the closest thing to a smile that his face was capable of producing. "If you'll follow me..."

He led the two scientists toward the exit, then out into the VIP parking garage where an opulent hover-transport waited for them.

Jetfire inclined his head slightly. "You know more about these things than I do, Starscream."

As he followed Lugnut out to the transport, he cocked and eyebrow and said, "Nice machine. Not even Prime's people picked us up with quite so much style."

Predacon nodded in agreement with Finback. "Exactly! So Step One is to harvest enough protoform tissue to build a healthy 'shell' to encase what's left of your body. Step Two will be to introduce the organic compounds you'll need to keep what's left of you intact, long-term. I think a genetically-engineered bacteria will work, one programmed as a hunter-seeker to search out and destroy any disease outbreaks. Combine that with enhanced internal repair systems and you should be able to survive in comfort indefinitely."

He shook his head at Scorponok. "No, you haven't. When you get back, though, I have to insist that you do."

"Ah, nice." Skywarp whispered to himself as Starscream and Jetfire followed Lugnut to the hover-transport. As soon as they are out of his sight, the Seeker crouched forwards, and disappeared.

He materialized with an audible crackle of electricity inside the transport, sitting himself in the pilot's seat. He positioned himself in a relaxed position, then whistled as if he had been waiting for them all day long.

"I'll do better than that, Predacon. I will show you what a techno-organic protoform looks like." Scorponok called out before he stalked out of the laboratory... knocking his head on the roof of the door in the process.

Scorponok muttered under his breath as he hunkered down, shuffled out of the laboratory, and made his way out of the Institute.

The ex-Senator transformed as soon as he stepped out of the building, driving towards the border between Kaon and Stanix, the rather inhospitable region the locals have taken to call the Acid Wastes. The dead metallic detritus around Kaon's landscape were crushed under Scorponok's treads, while anyone foolish enough not to move aside as the gigantic construction vehicle came rumbling through were batted aside by Scorponok's scoop arms.

After some time, he arrived in the abandoned Acid Wastes. It was a mixture of dirty brown and green, with a tinge of rust that uncomfortably reminded Scorponok of Finback's predicament. Steams of acid hissed out of the ground. There were some buildings in the Wastes, but those were abandoned. The beautiful city of Stanix jutted out of the ground in the distance, but otherwise there was only the Wastes. The tinge of sulphur reeked in the air, and Scorponok felt the outermost part of his exostructure beginning to peel off. He wrinkled his nose at the smell. An unarmoured Empty would corrode to death within an hour or so.

Fortunately, Scorponok was built sturdier than that.

He transformed into robot mode, and began to walk with purpose into the Acid Wastes, thick feet squelching into the constantly liquid-filled (well, acid-filled) ground.

Thrust looked on as Lugnut, Jetfire, and Starscream were about to board the transport.

"Alright guys, everything looks alright now, so let's head out." Thrust said to Thundercracker and Dreadwing.

On an encrypted frequency, he sent Lugnut and Skywarp a message. "Want us to fly escort above, or go ahead and meet with Megatron?"

"It's Lugnut's call, Thrusty-boy." Skywarp cooed into his commlink, putting his legs up on the dashboard to add to the impression of a bored chauffeur, whilst keeping an optic at the windshield to make sure their two charges don't pull a fast one on Lugnut.

Acid Wastes

Scorponok stalked to one of the abandoned scientific exploration buildings. But instead of entering it, Scorponok shuffled towards a pile of debris on its side, and stood on top of it.

His weight triggered a sensor, that opened the ground to reveal a lift. Scorponok stepped on it and tapped his claws on his hips as the lift slowly descended. Even underground, acid still dripped down, and the pungent smell filled the air.

Unlike the lift column, the storage house below was pristine clean. Several stasis pods were stacked, three of them larger than normal protoforms. Drones accosted Scorponok as he stepped down the lift. Two hovering ones held acid-neutralizing sprays in their three-fingered hands and began to systematically decontaminate Scorponok as they hovered meticulously around Scorponok's massive frame.

The lead drone was a six-wheeled gray and orange one, and was as large as a typical Minibot. It transformed into a robot mode, and spoke in a mechanized, flat voice. "Greetings, Master."

"Fasttrack, get the Ginrai protoform here, as well as two others. One of the large, modified ones, and one of the sparkless blanks." Scorponok told the drone as he allowed himself to be cleaned. Fasttrack used to be one of his employees... until Scorponok snuffed out his spark for insolence. Since it was a shame to waste such excellent material, Scorponok placed his own version of AI into it to create a more intelligent drone.

"At once, Master." Fasttrack said, and shuffled off to move the stasis pods.

Scorponok sidled over to a pile of datapads, and selected several. One contained three months' worth of research on technomatter and organic combination. The result was Ginrai, Cybertron's first techno-organic Protoform. A spark kept the body online. It is still a transformer, but with organic elements intertwined seamlessly with the technomatter. It could regenerate health faster due to its organic components, and it would be enough to fool sensors trained to ignore organic components.

The perfect assassin.

This 'Ginrai' is named after something Scorponok had heard once before in one of the ancient stories (he did have a penchant of melodrama, which he reveled in) regarding techno-organics or something. It was the content of the first stasis pod that is now loaded onto a hover-cart by Fasttrack.

The second one was similar to a regular stasis pod, with one key difference. The protoform was a 'blank'. It was without a spark. Blank protoforms are extremely valuable in medical purposes, as well as scientific experimentation. Which was why Scorponok had quite a number of them here. It was the one that would be used for their little patient.

The third one, though, was modified slightly by Scorponok to be larger than a normal Protoform. The practice was relatively easy, almost as simple as upgrading to a larger body, but is frowned upon by the church for some silly ethical reasons. The reason Scorponok brought it... well, Predacon will be wanting to creaete a multi-changer as soon as possible.

And the other datapads Scorponok carried contained schematics for weaponry and several different designs for six-changers Scorponok had thought about in his spare time... If what Predacon was planning would be true, then it wouldn't be so far-fetched to create a six-changer... why bother with three, when they can aspire for more?

Scorponok grinned. Some of the schematics focused on exploration, but most... were weapons of mass destruction. Genocide weapons.

"We were just talking about Grimlock." Eject replied to Clench.

"I assume this means he wants to be done with those back alley fights he's been participating in?"

Kaon, The Red Geist

Astrotrain held the door open as Deathsaurus entered. An elegantly cased server met them, "Ah. Deathsaurus, sir. You table is right this way." He led the trio across the room and into a glass encased lift. They exited into a small top floor balcony and were seated. The in-table data screens pulled up drink lists as they sat down.

Deathsaurus gestured to Astrotrain and Dirge, "Order anything you please. Then we'll discuss business."

With appreciation showing bright on his face, Starscream climbed into the transport and sank back into one of the form-moulding bucket chairs.

"This is special, isn't it?" he remarked to Lugnut. "There can't be more than a round eight of these on the whole planet - unless the Uraya manufactory has stepped up production. Must have cost the equivalent of half the output of the Energon mines for a vorn fractal."

As he chattered happily, though, Starscream happened to glance out of the window and back at the spaceport terminal. His optics were sharp of necessity, space being a rather less than safe environment, so he was quickly able to ascertain that an awful lot of mechs were showing interest in the party. But, then again, he supposed that they were a bit of a show, plus the vehicle was sure to attract attention.

Wheejack's Work Shop

"Good, good," Wheejack replied to Highbrow. "I knew there was a reason why I took you as my assistent. You think ahead." Wheejack scratched his chin (or wel, whatever he has) as he was looking over the weaponry. Most of them only needed some minor adjustments to fit the shell. "Thirty eight percent, huh? Well I guess it'll have to do right now. Maybe if the shell is synched up with the mech, it'll perform better. Right now that's just guessing though."

Wheeljack started to work on the weapons. Let's just hope we don't fry the mech's brain module. That's not going to do any good for good our name."

As Wheeljack was thinking about the mech, Gunrunner's transmission came in. It startled Wheejack so much that he accidentally fired the weapon that he was working on, punching a hole through the wall. "Whoops!" Wheeljack said. "Well at least I now know that it works."

Wheeljack walked over to the com unit. "Greetings, Gunrunner. You know the way to the shop? If not, these are the coordinates." Wheeljack transmits the coordinates to Gunrunner. "We're ready to test it, so you're more than welcome to join us!"

"Highbrow, prep the Pretender Vehicle for testing!" Wheeljack shouted across the room.

Highbrow flinched as the shot tore through the wall. And that's why I stand on the opposite side of the room when weapons are involved. He thought to himself. "Good to know the weapons are functional." He said, laughing.

Highbrow started making the final preperations to the pretender shell, bring it online. "Do we have any blank protoforms to test it on before he arrives?" Highbrow replied to Wheeljack. "I think we will be ready, but it never hurts to test one final time."

Kaon Office

"Yes, something to that affect." Clench replied to Eject. "He wants a challenge, and more credits. But he needs a good manager to get both. Someone who can help promote him. Someone who can make a name for him." He finished. "That's where you come in. I can't do it because it would be a conflict of interest. Would look bad if I was caught."

And since I am no longer in the race for govenor, I need to keep this business going to replace what I lost in advertising and campaigning.

"Got it, Wheeljack. Coordinates received." Gunrunner transformed back into his jet mode and shot into the air, heading towards Wheeljack's laboratory, kicking up a cloud of smoke as he did so.

"So, what exactly will this 'Pretender Vehicle' do to me?"

Exterior, Main Spaceport:

Straxus looked around, aware of optics on him, and also aware that nobody had actually approached him yet. No matter. Given the ostensibly covert nature of his task, public acknowledgement of his arrival would be a bit of a bother. Consulting a downloaded map, he transformed to his hover mode and headed towards the governor's palace at Kolkular.

Kaon, The Red Geist

Dirge wasn't fond of these places, the decor and drinks often too fancy for him, but it was the boss's tastes. He made sure not to show any of his own displeasure, keeping his expression neutral as he did his job, inspecting the room before he came to the table himself.

"Standard energon," Dirge ordered, glad they had some basic items on the list. He looked over at Astrotrain and Deathsaurus to see what they ordered, then continued keeping vigilence on the surroundings.

Spaceport

"Get out of here," Lugnut growled subvocally to Skywarp and Thrust over their com link. "The last thing we need is the marks spotting you before we get to the palace."

More audibly, he said to Starscream, "Actually, we've got a factory here in Kaon producing vehicles for the city. With Megatron in power companies find it a lot easier to license their designs to local builders than try and import stuff built elsewhere. One of the many ways he's dragged our economy out of the waste extractor."

Jetfire clambered in beside the other two fliers and said, "What else has Megatron been doing?" The scientist really wasn't interested in politics, but if the spaceport was any indication Kaon had come a long way from the squalid, poverty-stricken hellhole it had been when they'd left.

"I'm not really the sort of guy to talk to about policy," Lugnut admitted. "I'm more of a gopher than anything, and a new hire at that. I just know that they've done a lot to stop foreign firms from exploiting Kaon's people and resources. Most of the shanix that they'd been taking back to Iacon or Nova Cronum are staying here now, and it's made a huge difference."

(OOC @ Blackjack: A preexisting protoform won't do Predacon much good when it comes to making Sixshot, since he needs to 'birth' one from scratch using his new code. Not that he won't find a use for this one anyway... :glance: )
